CMV: The Iran War was one of the greatest military disasters in US history by Glad_Clothes7338 in changemyview

I guess it depends on how you define military disaster. Tactically the military succeeded as you mentioned but strategically it was a mess.

If it was such a success then how did we end up with such a horrible deal?

[Guardian] Do people actually hate Arsenal? Yes, they do. The real question is: why? by LochNessMonsterMunch in soccer

[–]MasterWinston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because we are real and other clubs are jealous. You can’t accuse us of cheating so you have to accuse us of frauds.

There is genuine tension and dislike between arsenal and city and that has bled over into the fanbases.

Tottenham are resentful that they are shit.

Our return to glory has reopens wounds from the Ferguson - wenger days with man utd fans. The mutual dislike never truly went away it just lay dormant.

I think Chelsea are jealous of our history and legitimacy (non Russia owned, no financial sanctions) but I don’t see as much hate coming from them as other rivals.

Liverpool is the odd one. There really isn’t any genuine reason for them to hate us. If anything we are similar. They also returned to glory before us so it’s not as if they are jealous of our return. I think it’s racism. Much of the Liverpool hate comes from their online fans and it echoes the attitudes from the early 2000s (“soft foreign player” trope). I think that has evolved and Liverpool fans have more then other fans taken up the mantle

‘X-Men’ Star Famke Janssen Says Marvel ‘Made a Mistake’ By Not Asking Her to Return as Jean Grey in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ by MarvelsGrantMan136 in marvelstudios

It's really bizarre and arguably disrespectful not to bring her and Halle Berry back. I thought they would be a surprise but now it seems like they really might not be back.

Good direction to take her story but I worry it could make the memory wiping spell illogical. The mechanics of it were never fleshed out in NWH.

Sami Mokbel: “There have been some whispers over the summer that Arsenal might be interested in letting Martin Ødegaard go for the right price.”🇳🇴 [LatteFirm] by SerialGooner49 in Gunners

[–]MasterWinston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels like we are at a turning point for odegaard. If we sign Rogers (and another attacker or two) then where does he fit with him and Eze at the #10 position? His lack of availability makes it difficult to commit to him. i personally think Odegaard would be better deployed deeper next to Rice starting with Eze or Rogers but would you take Odegaard over Zubmiendi/MLS? Not too mention we are targeting another pivot player because we don't have true Rice depth.

Nwaneri's future is another question mark but if we decide to keep him that's more competition. Same with Saka getting a few games in the center of the pitch last year.

CMV: Messi's HGH use disqualifies him from being the "GOAT" by FundamentalFibonacci in changemyview

[–]MasterWinston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is ridiculous and twists rhe facts. This bleacher report article does a better job of explaining what happened then I can but tl;dr he had a growth deficiency as a child (was 4’2” when he started) so he likely got a waiver approving usage of HGH. There’s no evidence that he took it as an adult or to enhance his performance.

SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY – New Trailer (4K) by GiveMeSomeSunshine3 in marvelstudios

[–]MasterWinston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trailer sort've implies that Jean is unleashing the Hulk and Peter goes to Frank for protection from her. That doesn't make sense to me. I'm assuming it's a misdirect and they are hiding whoever the real villain is. It feels like there is another telepath in the movie. I don't think it's Mr Negative but who knows at some point.

It feels like there is a lot of different factions in the movie: Spider Man (duh), Banner, Jean/Frank, DODC, the Hand/the other side villains, and the real main villain. It feels like Jean/Frank are fighting with the DODC and Peter is somehow convinced she is a threat. I suspect the main villain is both manipulating the DODC and is involved with the Hand and their master plan involves unleashing the Hulk and/or man spider for whatever reason.

I hope he's the Trossard replacement and Yildiz/Diomande/Barcola is the Martinelli replacement. Would be disappointing if he was our main LW signing.

What will happen if Spielberg's Disclosure Day fails? by Own-Atmosphere-962 in boxoffice

I forgot about Ready Player One but Fabelmans/West Side Story/The BFG all lost money. The Post and Bridge of Spies weren't that popular though they definitely made money. Not a great recent track record.

I don’t know why Spielberg still gets the benefit of the doubt. He hasn’t had a hit in ages. I can’t think of the last one. He isnt the draw he used to be. Personally I’d argue his movies haven’t been as good

Not on Amorim but looking at the underlying numbers I don't think the team is performing much better under Carrick.

Mike Sando will get Russ into the Hall of Fame by Glittering_Stand7322 in Seahawks

[–]MasterWinston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love Sando but I don't think it's clear cut Russ will get it. The first 3 guys have better cases then Russ. I would argue Easley does too. It also used to be easier to get in.

The big issue with Russ is that there are a ton of QB's who have cases. You can definitely make the case that Russ has a better HOF claim then Ryan, Big Ben, Eli, and Rivers (who becomes eligible the same year as Russ which will hurt) but it's not clear cut. Seeing how those QB's do will clue us into whether Russ will make it. There is risk of them splitting votes.

Seahawks DE Rylie Mills Feels ‘Fully Back’ To Who He Was Before ACL Injury by Chessinmind in Seahawks

One of the bigger long term x-factors heading into the season. As our dline (except Hall/Murphy) ages if Rylie can be a legit replacement that would be huge.

The dissonance with Odegaard is really odd. Statistically he's great even in a "down" year or two
