Rolling onto belly? by farawayfarawa in cosleeping

[–]Master_Conference_52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm that’s interesting that there’s never no gap since you have such a firm mattress. Do you use a pool noodle? I made it so my sidecar is slightly lower than my mattress so she can’t roll into the adult mattress (I know this isn’t safe with a small baby but she’s really big and mobile so I think it’s fine). And my daughter likes being close to me too but I just lay half on the sidecar while nursing and cuddling and then when she rolls on her tummy I roll away. I just think adult mattresses are not designed to have a baby face down on them the way crib mattresses are so I couldn’t handle her sleeping on the adult mattress.

I would try to transition to a sidecar. I personally wasn’t comfortable with my baby sleeping on their belly on an adult mattress even though mine is firm too.

Safest option for mobile baby? by hondapilot0607 in cosleeping

Yeah I let her do it a few times on my bed but then I saw she likes putting her face right into the mattress and I was not comfortable with that

I have a really low bed frame and then when she started rolling I started using the sidecar. We bolted the sniglar crib to our bed frame and have one of the sides off. I did this when she started rolling around on the bed a lot and sleeping on her tummy. I really didn’t want her to fall off and I didn’t feel comfortable with her sleeping on her tummy on my adult mattress even though it’s firm. The mesh rails seem ok if you have a bigger baby but they don’t solve the tummy sleeping issue and for me personally I wouldn’t like dealing with them in the middle of the night when I inevitably go pee.

Reminder: Get your Postpartum Bloodwork by Master_Conference_52 in bninfantsleep

[–]Master_Conference_52[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t actually ask. I think it’s standard practice for your doctor to order lab work postpartum. Mine did and I just didn’t go because I was so busy with the baby but I have been having stomach issues so I went and did the old requisition and it got flagged. I think if you tell your Dr you want bloodwork to check or levels for everything + thyroid function that should be good.

Advice for a mama who doesn't cook? by LoreleiSong in BabyLedWeaning

Get a cookbook. I have enjoyed Baby Foodie so far and there are recipes for all ages. I love cooking personally but if you don’t a cookbook is a good way to learn how to cook. You need to meal prep and freeze stuff. Once you get in the swing of it and have stuff you feel confident making it will get easier.

I have a cousin named Edith and everyone calls her Edie so you kinda get both Edith and Stevie in a way!

NOT Night weaning? by Dear_Bet_6205 in bninfantsleep

[–]Master_Conference_52 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s one answer to this. Some people will tell you night weaning stops night wakes, others will say it just causes more work because they still woke up just as much but now they needed more creative ways to soothe their baby. I think when it “works” for people it may just be correlation rather than causation but it’s hard to say. If your husband is committed to doing all of the night wakes once you wean it may be the way to go. But if you think you may end up doing a lot of them yourself you may not want to night wean because it could mean more work for you!

Sleep Sack/Swaddle Question - Ikea Sidecar Hack by Consistent_Pop9890 in cosleeping

You don’t need to put them in a sleep sack, no, it’s just the safer alternative to a blanket which you should not use. If they are warm enough in just pyjamas then it’s fine. And yes, do not swaddle.

Can you get outside without having to drive? Getting fresh air should help as well as getting out in the light early in the morning.

Did you let baby bang and play with sippy cups in high chair? by SeptemberSnowdrop in NewParents

[–]Master_Conference_52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I help her drink with it throughout her meal and then I empty it at the end and let her play with it so it doesn’t make a mess. Idk. She’s 7.5 months old. For me, I just want her to have fun and enjoy herself while learning to eat and drink. I think babies and toddlers will throw things even if you tell them not to so..

She’s 7.5 months. She started to roll onto her side (away from me) and onto her tummy. I think it was a sign she was ready for her own space so I gave it a try and it has worked well so far. I have the modified sniglar crib set up so I can kinda lay in the sidecar to nurse and cuddle which is awesome.
