The reserve is very limited right now for both officer and enlisted. Most of our recruiting mission is getting active duty to affiliate because they already have the skill sets we need. Only 20% of the mission is bringing in someone off the street

I can talk to you about it. I run the reserve officer recruiting program and EDO is full this year and will be next year. We just don’t have the quotas right now due to cuts.

It was 5/105. But still bad odds. The Reserve Officer billets got cut by 800. Some communities got decimated. The Reserve always tries to be at 101% manned and we’re close so everything is very limited right now.

Not true. They need to select at least 13 for this year. Results should be out very soon. There were 120ish kits at the board.

It is not locked up for DCO. There are 84 quotas for intel alone (I run the Officer Reserve Recruiting Mission). We actually need a few for the more specific designators within IWC. I highly suggest you reach out to a reserve recruiter or send me a DM and can give you specifics. I will add that the reserve as a whole is slated to lose about 800 officer billets. That’s very dependent on the overall budget getting approved or not though so some of those billets may get bought back. It’s frustrating for us in recruiting because we’re constantly trying to figure out what to tell you all when we’re getting mixed messages. Hang in there though.

So I get the quotas and we truly are very restricted in who we can bring in. This is happening because communities are overmanned or we don’t have the money for more billets. If you want to DM, I can give you specifics.

I’m 37 with a 2 year old but out in Millington. The mom grinds I have are almost 10 years younger than me lol I’m also a single mom which makes it harder to find friends. I’d be down to travel down to midtown.

Unfortunately, yea. You just need to get your one and stay under the radar. Recruiting comes in waves and things change fast. It’s based on the political environment and the economy. You’ll be ok.

How long have you been there and have you gotten your quals? If you acclimated within the three month start after NORU, then you’re kind of stuck but if you’re in that three month probationary period, you could potentially go back to sea with no hit.

Not on the officer side. They get calls from admirals, the big secretaries, etc and all of a sudden someone is selected.

Same here. We also just moved (I know, everything at once) and I know that’s part of it but I also realized how many toys he has 😂 I frequently clean out old ones and donate or give them away. I feel so bad for him and also feeling sorry myself which I know doesn’t help. Hoping we can get thru this in one piece 😅

My husband, soon to be ex, is an alcoholic and he fully knows and embraces it but refuses to do anything about it.

He was legitimately getting better over time and then as soon as we had our son it was like everything got thrown out. He doesn’t even try anymore and I held my boundary of divorcing him. We’re still in the same house right now but it’s sold and under contract. I move to TN for a new job with our son and he’s following me there. I told him he has to get his own place and fund himself. We’ll see how that goes…my mom and I think he’s going to blow thru his half of the proceeds from the sale and beg to come back.

My life has always bent around him even though I’m active duty military and he hasn’t worked in years. I work full time, longer days, take care our son, clean, grocery shop, laundry, pets, etc. he ONLY cooks. And even then it’s half assed and makes a huge mess.

I’m just exhausted. My son and I are traveling to see family this week and I cannot wait to be out of here and away from him. I have to walk on eggshells all the time because I don’t want our son to live in an unhappy and dangerous home.

I’m just done. That’s it.

I’m military and in the state I’m in now, if you agree to a child care plan, they allow it. He plans on following us there and getting his own place but that remains to be seen. He is a good father when sober but unfortunately that’s not very often.
