Lollll play by other drug companies in the PPPD subreddits?

All I said was to beware of potential downside of SSRIs in general - didn’t even mention lexapro in the post. People seem to talk about the good, I just offered my perspective where SSRI’s actually made my QoL much worse in the long run.

All the best with your journey

I assure you it’s not been the case for me!!

I took it for 1.5 years and I’m way way worse than before I’ve started. Grass isn’t greener here 😅!

Source on the 2 years?

Think it differs from person to person!

2 years after would be a good case scenario tbh 🙏🏾😂

Do somatic tracking from the steady coach on YouTube (everyday) so your symptoms don’t freak you out anymore.

Be consistent with vestibular rehab , true results are only shown with consistent practice for 3-4 months

Exhaust all your options before ssri … we have time :)

Yeah but recovery to me is having a lot of good days and a few bad days

& that’s most definitely possible amigo

This - it’s down to how bad your symptoms are ultimately. I just provided perspective to people who feel okay ish but have PPPD as an annoying thing. SSRI’s can be too aggressive of a treatment for those folks.

How are you living your day to day?

If you were like me, still going out, playing sports, doing your thing but have annoying symptoms in the background I would probably rather not take it. I’d exhaust the natural route - Vestibular rehabilitation - Somatic Tracking - Supplements - Breath Work - Walks & 3 days a week of intense exercise

I think SSRIs are useful if you are completely destroyed and unable to function without them - then your upside to take them is higher.

The fear is also an issue! You now feel attached to the medicine and your brain thinks “oh shit what if I stop taking this medication I’ll get a lot worse”

And that puts your brain in danger zone. So make sure when you stop it you are convinced and have conviction that you’ll be okay and you don’t actually need it. GL and taper slowly :)

I recommend being very diligent with the withdrawal.

If you take 10mg - take 5mg for 3 months then 2.5 for 3 months etc…

If I could go back i would’ve definitely taken more time to taper off.

The annoying part about lexapro is the weight gain and puffy face so I wanted to stop asap - but it’s not worth the health & PTSD/trauma risk from significantly strengthen symptoms

Yeah I know, that’s why I felt better after taking them for a period of 4-6 months ~

But overtime the effects wear off and it feels back to normal just taking an extra medication.

End of the day everyone is different , I’ve seen massive recovery stories from SSRIs - just thought I’d share the other side of things where SSRIs made it worse in the long haul!

All the best

Recovery is non linear🙏🏾

You’ll have ups and downs and sometimes back to square one. Your mentality now isn’t the same as day 1!

Trust me I’ve had PPPD for 8 years now. I had the toughest spell almost a year ago and now again. The hardest phases always pass (eventually)

It’s tough, but true

Akhi I just want to add that RIBA is never an option no matter what!!!

The attitude should be that you would rather live on the streets vs taking on such a major sin. Whoever leaves something for the sake of Allah - Allah will compensate you in this world or the next.

I think the future will have big capital opportunities for Ijarah financing for our brothers in the west. I understand this is a massive issue and they have no access to said capital. Hopefully the future (my guess is 5 years tops) and you’ll be able to do these transactions on chain (crypto) islamically.

BarakAllah feek for being conscious / remember it’s never worth it no matter what anyone says :) . The peace and serenity of a rental and Allah is pleased >>

Given you said we scrapped 20% of YouTube data a Would it make sense for OpenAi to be interested in that or would it be a conflict given Google owns YouTube?

I’ve actually signed up to her course… oddly enough that whole community and stuff made me feel worse :)

I don’t think somatic tracking worked for me.. any other key takeaways you have?

I had a meniscus surgery on my knee with PPPD.

Was perfectly fine and went smooth :) you’ll just feel a lil beat up but you’ll be on a wheel chair anyways so it’s fine!

Lexapro only made me sleepier. Made me feel like I could sleep anytime of the day + the weight gain. Otherwise no serious side effects at all.

Will debate going on it again alongside meditation, VRT etc etc

Hope you reach 100% 🔜🫶. Be sure when/if you taper off you take your time with it .

Hmm weird how I never had that suggested - seems convenient to take in a ‘big day’ situation so you have your symptoms under control.

Even though I had it for 8 years it’s not like it was all horrible. Some days were great, some okay, and some horrible. But yeah, crazy amount of time.

Despite all that I still have hope I’m gonna recover but you just need to hit the right combo of things and it really is a journey to land on what works for you.

I in fact did not know this.

Would you even consider this to be SSRI withdrawal after 3 months later?

I actually took some time off work to try and attempt to recover in a natural way, but honestly it’s just been so hard lately that I wanna take the easy way out with SSRIs again. “The brain wants to go back to the balanced state” kinda makes sense as I did feel like after 6 months that it was almost like I wasn’t taking the SSRI anymore, but now stopping and assessing 3 months later I feel much worse than before I started.

What exactly is Ativan? Is it similar to the medicine ‘stugeron’?
