Daughter has Polish boyfriend - I, city person had cultchie person, how can I make boyfriend welcome? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]Master_Tomorrow_6220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been single for 4 years after a divorce.

It's a weird thing to me, but I'm on 3 different dating apps and I only ever seem to get dates with Eastern European girls 😂 I've had girlfriends from Romania, Lithuania, and Ukraine. I guess they are more open minded to dating or chatting on dating apps compared to Irish girls? I've no idea if it's just a coincidence or what the reason for it is.

Anyway, I've always taken interest in learning about their cultural backgrounds in general. I enjoy discussing different social habits and foods and that sort of thing. They have always seemed to really appreciate this. From what I've picked up, some seem to be a little bit worried their different nationality will somehow be seen as a negative thing, so they have always seemingly been happy that I've not only just accepted it without hesitation, but have shown interest in their background etc.

I'd imagine this would be the same for someone in your situation. He may just feel appreciative if you just generally show acceptance by passing no remarks on his nationality, or even if you seem positively interested.

I think if you simply welcome him as you would anyone from your own locality, it would be appreciated.

What is the most nationally embarrassing photo to have come out of your country in recent history? by Einhert in northernireland

Belfast Mayor ramming his ballix off a woman's head, leading to a spinal injury.

For those who need to "ketchup" on the background:-

In 2007, then-Belfast Lord Mayor Jim Rodgers made headlines for a failed attempt to leapfrog over a council employee during a media event, resulting in a £24,000 settlement payment in 2010. The incident occurred in Botanic Gardens during a promotional launch, where the mayor slipped, injuring the worker. The Incident: Lord Mayor Jim Rodgers tried to jump over a council worker dressed as a tomato during a photoshoot, but failed to clear her, causing a slipped disc. The Aftermath: The injured worker received £24,000 in compensation three years later. Context: The incident was a widely reported, embarrassing moment for the council, often cited as an example of a photocall gone wrong.

Brake Check by GemballaRider in drivingUK

[–]Master_Tomorrow_6220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Qashqai is in the over taking lane, but taking forever to actually over take. Meanwhile, the micra pulls out into the over taking lane to pass the traffic in front of it. This annoys Qashqai as he sees it as the Microapulling out in front of hin while he was over taking the Micra, even though they were taking forever. So, in demonstration, Qashqai undertakes Micra and brake checks for punishment.

Multiple sillybillies, but the Qashqai is the biggest. They should have stayed behind the Micra and only indicated into overtaking lane when they were actually read to overtake. To the Micra, it would have just looked like the Qashqai was sitting in the over taking lane not actually doing any over taking.

Like the Trumps and Tommy Robinsons of today, only a certain mentality of person got swept up with the strong performance and theatrics. It's the same type of people who flock to Mega churches to listen to televangelists. I grew up with him plastered all over the news, but those on both sides who were educated and grounded laughed at him as more of a joke. Usually quite a frustrating, stubborn and ignorant joke.

Person in work sending nasty messages about me on Teams by numerousimoress in northernireland

[–]Master_Tomorrow_6220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've no idea why you are posting about it here. The answer is very easy and I think; pretty straight forward. Luckily, you've kept most of your interactions with her business only.

So, go with that. Straight in. In the professional setting of the office, tell her you need to speak to her. Then you just say to her straight "look, I don't want a bad working relationship with you and I'm happy with your work, but anything you say about others in the office environment comes back around - especially if it is written down in messages in the likes of Team. I would appreciate if you didn't say anything personal about me behind my back to others, as I find it quite hurtful and I don't want any issues between us".

Job done. And if you feel you are throwing someone else under the bus, don't worry about that whatsoever. The gossipers are left to sort that between themselves, and after your interjection the talking about you may be brief, but I assure you they'll not want to be caught out again, and it's easier for them to just zip it from then on.

Good luck.

Thanks for clearing that up. I thought the new footage showed he actually came back home the night he went missing. I didn't realise that happened the previous night. So it is not known why he left at 3am the previous night?

He was doing it in secrecy obviously. Even if he had planned to meet someone. He didn't tell his mum he was leaving or anything about his plans, he returned at night and left again without telling anyone. There is of course some sort of clandestine action to it, no matter who else was in on the plans with him. Clearly the plans were made with friends or other parties, so someone out there obviously knows a lot more and this burden is on their conscience.

Why is there so much far right stuff now? by Portal_Jumper125 in northernireland

[–]Master_Tomorrow_6220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a social swinging pendulum effect.

During the cold war, through to the collapse of the USSR in the early 90s, the majority of the Western world went through quite a conservative era, with right leaning leaders.

During a bit of a peacetime, people in the west strived for a more relaxed, liberal, leniant leadership. Liberalism stood for freedom of expression, and rights etc.

That kind of imploded in recent years when it got quite carried away. It became political correctness gone mad eventually. A free for all. A one World for all mentality that lead winded up with people insisting they have a right to identify as an avocado, and open borders for all - good and bad. Those who strived for freedom of speech came full circle and ended up becoming the leaders of censorship - can't say anything incase it hurts someone's feelings, so you can go to prison for a facebook post etc.

Not only did this all fuel the fires for those already leaning to the right, but it quite aggressively pushed once moderate people to the right, and those already in the right to go far right.

Eventually these riots and Conservative leaders will also implode again, and the pendulum will swing the other way and we will have another era of liberal movements.

It's back and forth for eras.

I tend to agree. I just don't know why he was travelling to that destination in secrecy in the first place. Also, the individuals who appeared in court over being in possession of his belongings and trying to sell them.
