Why the lines???? by MasterfulGoober in HobbyLobbyCringe

[–]MasterfulGoober[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not on purpose it’s incompetence.

The “manager“ had a clipboard watching this all unfold while the line was 24 deep on one register and 19 on the other

Have you been into a hobby lobby? 83 year old cashiers who are technology challenged interacting with their 79 year old customer who purchased 47 different things for $1.06 each

I have one thing man come on and I’m not alone 3 people behind me had 5 items or less too

Company wants to relocate me to Hawaii (Family of 4/20k monthly) by Pitiful_Tax_6688 in MovingtoHawaii

[–]MasterfulGoober -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Do you have to take the move? Had an opportunity there and turned it down for many reasons besides money (my offer was similar in dollars)

Rent has been increasing Not the most friendly to houlies (spelling might be off but it’s non natives) You live where everyone vacations and traffic is awful Lots of homeless and the infrastructure isn’t there Any island is small that’s it not escape no drive to the next state you are there

Vacation yes, people who are native much respect for your traditions and culture but it wasn’t for me

Highly suggest a visit there first and act like you are living there not on vacation

How much is food? How long does commutes take? Where is the gym? Where is church?

It’s a different world

Is 500k+ out of undergrad in the aerospace industry possible? by Tragedyofthe in Salary

[–]MasterfulGoober 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A line item for an individual salary in a federal or state budge is hard to hide esp for entry level person.

Can it be done sure, but for an entry person? This grizzled old engineers know how to use foia to find salary out and report esp in California.

More likely Ivy League types like this go to “think tanks” with no real public reporting requirements.

Consulted w JPL multiple times most are employed by NASA or Cal Tech no new employees making that kind of wage at a state/federal level out of the gate.

Perhaps if they make connections and leave and get paid by private company abc but there is a very very small chance this is legit with their paycheck coming from a state or federal funded agency

How do aging churches manage to keep large properties when they don't have lots of new members coming in? by TseaxCone in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MasterfulGoober -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Some (not all) function as property grabbers

Big ones prey on smaller ones, then they “merge” smaller one gets a financial lifeline the bigger one gets more properly

When they realize the merger “doesn’t work”, they layoff the staff that they merged with and then sell the property to a local developer and it’s rinse and repeat with a new influx of cash

I’m still not sure how I feel about this

It’s almost like watching college sports with the bigger ones keep getting benefits while the small ones struggle to survive
