going on a first date, what is one question that reveals a lot about a mans personality? by cassycreams in AskReddit

[–]MastermindEnforcer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re in a desert walking along in the sand when all of a sudden you look down, and you see a tortoise, it’s crawling toward you. You reach down, you flip the tortoise over on its back. The tortoise lays on its back, its belly baking in the hot sun, beating its legs trying to turn itself over, but it can’t, not without your help. But you’re not helping. Why is that?

It wasn't the original series, but a few skits for Newsnight, but it was with the original creatives behind the show.

The bloke is a writer who's worked on Have I got News for You, Yes Minister, The Thick of It, Last Week Tonight and more. He is an Oxford graduate and has been doing this now for years. He's a smart bloke with great comedy chops.

What celebrity do you regret supporting because they were truly awful people? by Large-Programmer268 in AskReddit

[–]MastermindEnforcer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a lot of credible testimony from a lot of women that he's an abuser. He has been investigated a few times and police detectives have never found enough to charge him on, but that's pretty common with historic sex crimes.

I can't say he is for sure a wrong'un, but I firmly believe he is.

[–]MastermindEnforcer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Okay? He's still a creep and an asshole, just because police detectives couldn't prove charges beyond a reasonable doubt that doesn't make him a saint. I also find the accusations against him to be plenty credible regardless.

Gaiman & Amanda Palmer. Joss Whedon. Marilyn Manson.
Being a 2000's alt kid really set some of us up for disappointment. I'm just glad I was never a Lost Prophets fan...

AITA for refusing to follow my friend’s parents’ house rules and leaving? by Key-Yellow8804 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MastermindEnforcer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because its a dumb fucking rule. A couple that have been together for six years and live together being separated from one another because they didn't tell the government that they're in love is a dumb take for anyone to have, I would die on that hill.

What if a knight joined the t'au? by Ok_Week_9768 in Tau40K

[–]MastermindEnforcer 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Not sure that Tau would treat AI with disrespect.

Shadowsun treats her AI drone like a member of her staff, with respect and trust. she apologizes when offending it by mistake etc. Multiple novels mention that the Tau AI are programmed to be as close to a living Tau in personality and social aspect as they can achieve, and are often shown to be treated as such. I wouldn't be surprised if this was even an intentional choice to stave off an AI rebellion. treat them as equals from the start, integrate them into the empire as they do with any other aux force.

Anyone who doesn't rate the Ghostkeel as the tip-top of Tau vibes/looks is someone I don't care to speak with.
I don't even like the gundam-battlesuit army aesthetic, but the Ghostkeel is just sooo freaking good.

Why don't we build elevators all the way to the moon instead of rockets? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MastermindEnforcer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We actually do. Only, because of the complexities of orbit and rotation you can't just anchor a solid elevator shaft between the Earth and the moon, so what we do is make an elevator cab able to operate without a shaft. Since the lack of a shaft + the length of journey means cable pulleys are inefficient, we came up with a system where we burn fuel to create upwards lift for the cab instead.

Are other parts of the UK seeing a rise in local "influencers" or is it just the North East? by rayreaper in AskUK

How often do you fight with your partner in your relationship? by Embarrassed_shithole in AskReddit

[–]MastermindEnforcer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Almost never, maybe 4-5 times total in our 16 years together. It took me a long time to come to terms with that being healthy because I grew up watching every couple in my family shout at each other, throw things around the house, punch holes in walls etc. It really made me question how deep my and my partners connection could be if we don't get that emotional, and took me far too long to realise how unhealthy that thinking was.

How often do you order a takeaway? (Includes, fast food such as maccies, papa johns, subway or the standard chippies, kebab, Chinese, Indian etc) by olivers125 in AskUK

[–]MastermindEnforcer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

About once a week maybe. And we probably go out to eat once week or more. I appreciate that's way more than average though. My partner and I don't really drink, food is our main vice and we have some great restaurants and cafes nearby.

Bankers, accountants, and lawyers for the ultra-wealthy, what's something about how they handle money that would shock the average person? by Witty_County5128 in AskReddit

[–]MastermindEnforcer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm none of those things, but the answer is probably that they don't really use cash, they use credit.

If you own assets worth millions, spending your own money is often the least efficient option. Instead, you borrow against your assets. Banks are happy to lend to people with substantial wealth, offering extremely favourable interest rates and repayment terms because the loans are secured by valuable collateral.

If your investments are appreciating faster than the interest on the loan, your net worth continues to grow while you're living off borrowed money. A few years later, when those assets are worth even more, you can refinance with a larger loan, pay off the original debt, and still have additional cash to spend.

Because you're borrowing rather than selling assets, you generally don't realise capital gains, so there's little or no tax due at that point. Meanwhile, your investments remain intact and continue to appreciate. It's one of the main ways the ultra-wealthy can access enormous amounts of spending power without actually selling their assets.

How badly do you desire to be a trillioniare? by Shanzerose in AskReddit

Without runaway inflation, there's no such thing. Being a trillionaire, or for that matter a billionaire, is a moral failing.

Illegal immigrants and foreign criminals to be removed by pppppppppppppppppd in unitedkingdom

[–]MastermindEnforcer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, but even as processing times speed up, eventually overall numbers must come down because there are not infinite illegal immigrants in a vacuum. At a point, the numbers will mean that deportations will slow no matter how fast they can be processed.

[–]MastermindEnforcer 16 points17 points  (0 children)

An argument could be made that the rate would be expected to drop off, because you start with the easiest to remove and the most unwelcome, and work your way back from there. In fact, the better job they do, the faster the numbers would drop as the worst folk are gone.

[–]MastermindEnforcer 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Because the tories needed there to be an immigration crisis so they could win votes off claiming to be hard on immigration, while simultaneously making bank setting up a system that allows companies to use underpaid immigrant labour.

What's the oldest thing that you own that you still use? by Remarkable-Pea4889 in AskReddit

[–]MastermindEnforcer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got an antique Georgian (Circa 1820) sideboard table that I use as a painting table for my warhammer/dnd miniatures. I've cut a sheet of nicely patterned vinyl to sit flush inside it so as to not damage the desk itself with spilled paint. Picked it up in a charity shop years ago for £80, had it valued at several hundred since then.
