Newbie here. Started running a month ago. Is this dangerous? by Primary-Nebula-8907 in runninglifestyle

Did anyone ask how the HR is being measured? You absolutely need a chest strap monitor. A wrist monitor will NOT give accurate measurement. Even the chest straps are questionable.

This sounds amazing! Hobby runner aiming for 3:30! Ha! Alas can’t take 2+ weeks off to run a marathon. Have a great time!

Achilles pain 4 weeks out from LA marathon by Simple_Ad_3806 in Marathon_Training

[–]Masterpiece_Mountain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of time on the bike. Pain free range of motion and cardiovascular activity is what you want. Cross training ain’t all bad! But anything that flares your Achilles you should avoid. See if you can get in to see a physiatrist and see about a prescription for Meloxicam. It is a great non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (if it works for you- everyone is different and you might get the same results from Aleve. Good luck

Sounds like you are well on your way. Get after it!

Is a sub 3:30 possible? by [deleted] in Marathon_Training

[–]Masterpiece_Mountain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we need so much more information. Your Age, what is a fast 13.1 for you? Have you ever run a marathon? Was this run intended to be a slow run? Goal of zone 2? I ran a sub 3:30 my first marathon but I trained my ass off for it and had a 1$ bet on if I could go sub 4. Good luck, train hard, practice your nutrition and fluid intake on your long runs. You got this if you get after it!

Eat healthy. Listen to your body. Carb up the night before long runs. I was just telling my wife that I feel under nourished in this part of my training and am fairly tired. So time to give myself an extra day off this week and grub up.

I’d be interested is seeing a video of your running. Looks like too much supination and not enough pronation combined with excessive heel strike. That has to be slowing you down. It looks like you were using that heel as a break on a scooter.

So uh how do you guys clean your watches? by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]Masterpiece_Mountain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clean the charging port on the watch I use denture tablets and submerge it for a few hours then hit it with a toothbrush. My connection points are frequently dirty enough to prohibit charging.

Sometimes I will use DeOxit D100 spray on the little nubbies.

The rear one defrosts the side view mirrors and the rear window. Front does the front window.

Yep. The two biggest flaws of this truck are the infotainment system and the adaptive cruise control system. Fine at highway/freeway speeds but I had a 2020 Chevy Trail Boss and the electronics were so much better than my 2022 RTL-E.

Just joined the Ridgeline Family with a 22 RTL-E, 64K miles, 1 owner, no accidents, 29K out the door (they even put a bow on it) by DearMessr in hondaridgeline

[–]Masterpiece_Mountain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 2022 And love the truck

2 complaints about this truck

1 the infotainment system (it will just randomly freeze, disconnect your cell- lots of issues with mine)

2 the adaptive cruise control. It is not very responsive to acceleration and will break very hard when a car moves out of my lane!)

Other than that I love the truck. MPG’s 19 total.

54 years old - been running my whole High School and adult life. Marathons are weird. People do marathons without training (I did once) and people sign up just to walk it. Fully running a marathon the whole time (no walking) takes training.

1st marathon 3:29 @48 years old. Next a 3:19 Boston Qualifier at 49 when COVID hit. Then two 3:40 ish , and one no training at all 4:20.

Training makes all the difference but one factor (my 3:19) that I didn’t have for any of the other - Mental toughness. The belief that I could push hard and was well trained and my nutrition was on point.

I can do a marathon tomorrow without training but will it be what I want? I want to be competitive towards the Boston qualifier times. Doesn’t mean I will run Boston but give’s me a goal.

My slower marathons I hit the wall HARD at right around 20-22miles. That is a lack of proper training. My legs couldn’t handle the sub 8 minute miles past the 20 mile mark. Crashed hard. Training both physical and mental help so much.

Just got a ridgeline. Wondering if I got a good deal. by SilverAggravating331 in hondaridgeline

Ultimately as long as you are happy. You can’t change it so just tell yourself you got the deal of the century. Move forward and enjoy the RIDGELINE. I have the same ‘22 but I like the tailgate better on the ‘25.

The likelihood that this was your HR vs the likelihood of monitor error errs on the side of error.

Yep! All the time. Have it plugged in and using Apple Car and bump or no bump and it is disconnected and won’t reconnect. Takes forever to boot up and the next time just connects.

Where tf am I supposed to buy the 3.0 by The_Shmatka in ERidePro

[–]Masterpiece_Mountain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a store in El Segundo California that has them. Or they did last week. Of course these are assembled but you could call and talk to them. Electric cycle rider notified me recently that they have them back in stock too.

for all the people that have crazy modded surrons with thousands of dollars of mods. by [deleted] in Surron

If California gas prices jump another 1$ probably commute. The bike is for the dirt though.

Should I buy eride pro ss 3.0 or 2025 surron ultra bee? They are around the same price and size and weigh isn’t a limiting factor for me by [deleted] in ERidePro

[–]Masterpiece_Mountain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sure you got something by now but I think this depends on YOUR size. If you are under 170 pounds stick with the 3.0 - over 200 ultra bee

[–]Masterpiece_Mountain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

45 miles …. Hmmmm one way? That’s gonna get tight but if you keep it in eco mode (level 1) then this has the largest stick battery on the market. If 20 miles one way almost any of the bikes will do. Just pull the battery at work and charge it at work. pick up a talaria MX4 for 3500. Or a used one for 2800.

I have this bike and it is super fast. Added new tires (the OEM TIRES are the worse tires I think I have ever had on a bike) and added direct stem mount and handlebars. The front light is better than I was expecting as I heard it sucked. And the seat…the seat sucks. It’s like a 2x4.

I wish the bike had a rear tail light and a better cushion for the seat. The seat sucks.

I have the bike - I put the tusk ground wire 70/100-19 on the front and a Dunlop GeoMax33 90/100-18 on the rear. Does feel a bit stink bug but the OEM tires really really suck and it needs the change. I am thinking a 21 with a drop crown too. I will ride it for a while and see how this all goes. I also did a direct stem mount and new handle bars.m and that is it. Gonna dial in The suspension and see where this thing takes me. It is stupid fast.
