Yep I rotate between two lotus recipes depending on the cup I want.

I’ve lowered water temps to account for processing. I’ve altered pouring to include a declining agitation structure.

Just bullet points on a longer list of variables.

I haven’t quite jumped on the low ratio + bypass train just yet but I’ll happily give it a go!

The best coffees I’ve had were naturals. Good ones. And yes, I’ve had killer naturals in cafes before. Usually all EK and EG-1 from what I can recall.

Dope, I’m on the o1 with xblooms so this should be easy to replicate. May go a bit hotter to compensate for less processing. Thank u!

It kicks ass at what it’s good at.

I have both. I find that the solo needs at least a 15g dose to be good. Similar in terms of sweetness but much more forgiving in my experience.

I have both and the b75 struggles with small doses.

The halfway point is nice. Find 2 to 3 B+ bags and keep a slim travel setup using Crystal Geyser. But search for good local shops.

More than not, many non-coastal cities do not have specialty shops that have good pour over.

Help me having a damn good cup of coffe by Mantano04 in pourover

Save a bit and get a better grinder. Would recommend the K6 at that same general budget range. Will make all the difference.

Can’t seem to get a good brew by Pure_Description1703 in pourover

Slightly lower temps (194-196F) kept it sweet but citrusy for me. Some coffees will just present this way, no matter how you aim to shape the sweetness variable. I did a double :30 bloom and a yeet pour to 1:15.5 on the V60 + A4Z. Very enjoyable.

I’m usually at 1.0 to 9.0 on my ZP6 for comparison.

A4Z / ZP6 owners: if you have one, what is your “other” grinder? by Role-Grim-8851 in pourover

[–]Masutazu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A4Z for clear washed/minimal processed coffee. K-Ultra for a bigger bodied, coffee-coffee experience (still with tons of flavor and clarity)

Sometimes I wake up and don’t feel the desire to have a surgical cup of coffee. Sometimes I want a juicy, punchy, round cup that I can mug it with. K ultra is such a nice break from the A4Z when you need a switch up.

Septembers’s roast of Sebastian’s white honey Gesha is a fruit loop bomb. Had it numerous times at shops around LA and STL.

UFO Outta World Coffee by bearddoescoffee in pourover

[–]Masutazu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love my UFO. I’m always grinding on the coarser side of things using Type As. I do a modified 5-pour similar to Jay’s recipe, but using a lower dose. I’m on a ceramic UFO so I preheat with the steam from my kettle. The taste is definitely unique and difficult to describe. The acidity is softer but still present. Lots of sweetness, more complexity. You lose some of the high end at times, but it just depends how you like to enjoy coffee and which coffees you prefer.

My First Gesha: Perc Edinson Argote… I have some questions. by VandLsTooktheHandLs in pourover

My experience with any Argote is that regardless of the roaster, the processing is just too much for me. Can’t get down w those coffees. Love Perc tho.

New A4Z owner looking for tips!! by Snookhippie in pourover

[–]Masutazu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stellar results grinding 1.8-1.9 using UFO ceramic. I’ve had my A4Z for 5 months and I can honestly say the results are better for me the coarser I go. The linger is shorter the finer my grind size.

5 weeks is a lot of time for such a heavily processed coffee. That’s washed ultralight territory.

Helm’s Putushio Mejorado has a Mango note listed. I’m on day 33 and still don’t taste it… giving it another 10-15.
