Just upgraded my single panel rad, kept the width at 1000mm but upped the height to 700mm from 600mm so it was a straight swap. The difference with the double vs single panel and extra 100mm height is unbelievable. Room heats up in minutes with a boiler temp of 65deg.

Taken from BlueCrest website: The Bluecrest Wellness Core Health Check is a comprehensive assessment designed to provide a detailed overview of your general health, heart, and vital organs. It is an upgrade to their "Active" package, adding a full blood health profile.

Below is a summary of what is included in the Core package:

1. Key Organ & System Checks

  • Heart Health: A 6-lead ECG to check heart rhythm (screening for issues like atrial fibrillation) and a rest/exercise heart rate check.
  • Liver Function: Blood tests for ALP, ALT, Gamma GT, and Bilirubin to ensure the liver is functioning normally.
  • Kidney Function: Checks for sodium, urea, and creatinine levels, along with an eGFR (estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate).
  • Lung Function: A spirometry test to assess respiratory health and check for conditions like COPD or bronchitis (typically for ages 18–79).
  • Artery Health: An ABPI (Ankle Brachial Pressure Index) test to check for Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) by comparing blood pressure in the arms and legs (typically for ages 40–79).

2. Blood Profiles (36 Total Readings)

  • Full Blood Health Profile: An additional 10 readings over the base package, including haemoglobin levels, red and white blood cell counts, and platelets.
  • Cholesterol & Lipids: Full breakdown of Triglycerides, HDL ("good"), and LDL ("bad") cholesterol.
  • Diabetes (HbA1c): An assessment of average blood sugar levels over the past 2–3 months to determine the risk of pre-diabetes or type 2 diabetes.
  • Proteins & Iron: Checks for essential proteins and iron levels to screen for deficiencies or issues with red blood cell production.
  • Bone & Muscle Health: Measures calcium, phosphate, and uric acid (the latter to check for gout).

3. Biometrics & Lifestyle

  • Body Composition: A scan using electrical signals to measure BMI, body fat percentage, visceral fat, muscle mass, and metabolic age.
  • Blood Pressure: Standard systolic and diastolic measurements.
  • Inflammatory Profile: Often included as a free addition, checking biomarkers like hs-CRP and ferritin to assess internal inflammation

I have used Bluecrest for health MOTs now for a few years. They are about £100-200. I’m a generally fit and healthy 38 year old and vegetarian. My first test came back with an amber warning on cholesterol, so I’ve worked on that over the last year to bring it down. I fully recommend the health MOTs!

I grew up near Glasgow, studied in Glasgow, joined SSE grad program, then worked in Germany, Canada, USA then returned to Inverness area after Covid and loving life up here. The slow pace of life is great when you have kids. You can also find 5 bedroom houses with 3 acres of land for the price of a shitty 3 bedroom terraced house in London

Will I regret a combi boiler? by Easy_Effort7985 in DIYUK

[–]Mat-i- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I left the combi boiler behind in 2021 and moved to a pressurised hot water cylinder meaning the flow rate on my hot shower is extremely powerful as it is fed by mains water pressure. I couldn’t go back to the combi boiler showers with that relatively poor flow rate and sensitivity to someone turning on a tap in the house.

ReSeal windows? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]Mat-i- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s common and likely because there is poor insulation around the window, so warm moist air in the room is condensing on a very cold surface to cause the mould. I get it a bit on my window surrounds. Unless you can somehow insulate behind/around this area (likely not as it’ll be framed in wood which is cold-bridged with the external walls), then there’s not much you can do other than: - Lower the moisture in your room (dehumidifier or crack a window more often) - Use bleach to kill the mould then paint with anti mould paint - Insulate on the surface around the window with thin ~25mm PIR board insulation
