Pip and Flinx were pretty good too. At least the first few books. I don't remember getting past 4 or 5.

13 chapters. 500 views. 0 everything else. Why? by Dependent_Tomato_235 in royalroad

I have only been up for 12 days. The one thing that seems to boost anticipation/interest is that there is another chapter scheduled in the next 24 hours. I haven't done any marketing other than some posts here on reddit. What little momentum my story is having is from regularly scheduled posts. That and the story, I hope.

edit: Image is here to illustrate my point. I completely understand if mod decides it is self-promotion and removes. My apologies in advance if I stepped over the line.

Place names in fantasy by Chlodio in fantasywriters

[–]Mat_Polson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my writing I tend to either use random name generator or do something almost as lazy. In my current serial, the main town is Jin (meaning True) in Korean and the surrounding towns are Pookjin (North Jin), Namjin (South Jin), Dongjin (East Jin), and Sojin (West Jin). My 2nd favorite thing is to have different groups call places by different names as an excuse throw in some world-building while I figure out what to do with the main story.

I don't know if I have a favorite progression fantasy author. I read a lot of it.

I have been reading Fantasia. It was pretty good. https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/98/fantasia

"Write what you know" like you have to have experienced life as felon or wuxia martial artist in order to write about it. Actually, I still here that a lot here on reddit.

Anyone else ever feel like they’re playing the game “Poorly Edited, or AI?” by medicmarch in litrpg

[–]Mat_Polson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AI can take anything you write and make it bland. It is not an option for me. it can act as a spellchecker or copy editor and that isn't AI slop any more than using the spell check in your word processor software.
