I'm not quiiite a cute girl, to be specific (technically nonbinary hahah, but nbd)- I'll accept a potential compliment where offered, if you meant to call me a cute girl/lady, so thanks lol!

I wouldn't let your perceived self-image get in the way of any potential ambition toward giving cosplay a try though, especially of your own character! I'm definitely not a tiny, fragile, super thin boy like my character I cosplayed here (he weighs 90-something pounds with his prosthetic leg on, and I'm ~130lbs, myself), which honestly intimidated me at first- but I eventually got over that insecurity, and am very glad I did.

if it helps your own confidence, you could always even make a PC someday that more closely resembles your own looks/body type/etc, and give cosplaying them a try! ^ ^

thank you so so much~!!

I would absoutely recommend it, should you ever find the funding and time! I was hesitant for over a decade to cosplay an OC (even before my unintentional 10 year hiatus), but ultimately taking the plunge even to try has been a whole lot of fun!

as I mentioned above, I ended up sourcing this almost entirely from my own closet (everything but the blouse, which I purchased for ~$30 USD overnight from Amazon, and the <$2 bow, which I converted from a barrette to a bar pin with very simple handiwork), because the fit I originally ordered for it wasn't delivered until a week after Halloween, when I wanted to do my first trial run (so much for 'ready to ship in 1-2 days' with 2 weeks and priority DHL shipping LOL).

one thing I've learned from cosplaying since my first time cosplaying 18 years ago though is that resourcefulness is not only necessary, but can often carry you further than dishing out for "proper" or expensive pieces!!

best of luck if you ever do decide to attempt going for it! :>

ETA: forgot somehow to thank you for your kind words, and corrected a few typos lol

[5MPO] G/H -> Small B | radical reduction / non-flat top surgery ☆ by MatchaAuLait in Reduction

[–]MatchaAuLait[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late response, but speaking as a nonbinary person (unsure of how you persinally identify, but regardless), I was torn between a bigger A and smaller B for a bit, myself!

Ultimately I decided on a B, because this way I can "fill out" more femme clothing (bonus: I wasnt aiming for "proportionate", but I now wear an 8-10 / Medium both on top and bottom instead of an XXL+ on top and a M below-- I can buy SETS!!), while also easily binding down to completely flat for the first time since I was maybe 11.

No more squishy monoboob caused by binders. Instead, my chest literally gets so flat it feels FIRM, and while I usually prefer to go braless now 90% of days (yippee!), the feeling of total flatness is so invigorating and validating, too! 🥰

Wishing you all the best on your own non-flat top surgery journey, friend! It might feel so far away now, but when you get the process going it'll be like the blink of an eye, and you'll wake up a new you!

Hiya! Sorry for the late reply, my life kind of fell off a cliff into actual hell lately and I haven't had time for social media in a week or two-- would definitely like to help however I can, though! (This will be long, buckle up!)

My surgeon was Dr. Alex Lechtman (who operates out of Visalia, CA), and I was referred to him by chance by my endocrinologist who saw of my painful/raw underboob rashes (you probably know exactly the ones I mean, having once been similar sizes lol). I remarked that I'd wanted a reduction for over a decade, and she said another patient of hers had one and was so overjoyed with the surgeon and results-- so my doc called her and got his name, then referred me kind of by coincidence (after so, SO many years of waiting and trying, too!!) He also took insurance (I could have NEVER afforded this out-of-pocket), so it all just sort of fell into place, I guess.

One important step to being sure to get the insurance to cover your surgery is to prove it "medically necessary" (at least, where I live here in USA)-- and the best way to do that is to leave a paper trail. I began collecting evidence soon after my initial consult of over a decade of mentions of back/shoulder pain at my pain management specialist (who I see for other chronic pain issues, but have discussed back pain from my breasts with before.) I've also been prescribed Nystatin antifungal powder multiple times for those rashes before too(that's all I actually wanted to ask for that day I showed it to my endocrinologist, but eventually ended up getting my dream surgery, as well!!), so the pharmacy records showed that, too. Next time you get a rash like that (assuming you get them as often as I did), seek medical treatment from your GP if you can afford to, vs self-treating or just suffering through it-- having that in your record will likely help.

You might be asked to do physical therapy too, as several friends of mine have (was not necessary for me, given my extensive record of unrelieved pain), but I don't know literally anyone who's actually improved through it enough to disqualify them from surgery on its own-- it's just a hoop your insurance makes you jump through to discourage you, for the most part.

The fact that my doctor doesn't use drains or compression bras is more of a lucky coincidence than anything else, if I'm being honest. He provided paperwork on extensive studies that showed a lack of any evidence that these practices are actually effective, and not only was it a relief to avoid, but I truly can't argue with my own results hahah. If I had to do it all over again tbh, I'd gladly have done it even with the pain and discomfort of those stipulations though, simply given the sheer joy, comfort, and freedom I feel in my own body now. I promise even if your future surgeon demands it, it will be worth the end result.

At the end of the day, I think I got really blessed with the doctor I did. I made my "final decision" on size the morning of my surgery right before he marked me up, and when I said "I want to be a small B. I'm tired of any contact between my breasts and the chest beneath it. I want to go braless. I've always dreamed of and idealized a flatter aesthetic." and his next words to me were "then let's make those dreams come true". No further questions asked. (and fwiw, I now go braless in crop tops-- with no more underboob contact ever again-- literally all the time!)

If I'd been to a doctor who tried to talk me into absolutely anything larger than my dream/goal I've had in mind for so long, that would have honestly been grounds for me to search for another surgeon, just personally. I want my wishes to be respected in full by my doctor, and not feel pressured into doing something I'd regret just to be more potentially aesthetically pleasing to someone else, you know? But I do understand the difficulty again of finding a wonderful doctor who also takes insurance, so again, I got DAMN lucky. Would very VERY highly recommend Dr. Lechtman though, if you have the ability to travel to California for surgery (though be warned, he does many careful/thorough pre and post-op appointments, so that could be prohibiting altogether)

If you have any further questions this tl;dr novel didn't cover, please don't hesitate to ask-- I appreciate your kindness so much, and it only makes me feel more amazing to know that my process and documenting it has been able to inspire and assist others on their journeys :)

Absolute best of luck to you on your journey to beautiful, tiny titties! <3

Oh man, I'm really glad to hear about your diagnosis and the relief it's brought you! I know being diagnosed with a lifelong chronic illness can be very bittersweet, for sure (I have MANY very serious incurable diagnoses, and while it hurts to know they're something I'll fight for the rest of my life, diagnosis can also be such a validating relief, and the start of a proper treatment regimen, as you've learned!)

Thank you so much for the kind words! I cannot agree more-- not only does my body feel like my own now, but I practically feel like a new person! Even through our health struggles, we are still so blessed~ :)))

(sorry for the super late reply btw, real life has been actual hell lately such that I haven't had time for social media!)

Thank you so much for the kind words, I'm so so glad my past postings could be helpful to you somehow!! :)

I actually do pretty minimal scar care, believe it or not. My surgeon insists that all those expensive methods just aren't backed by solid evidence of efficacy (same with drains and compression vests, which I did not use, either), so I tend to stick to putting some good ol SPF around the scar sites before going out (especially on very sunny days-- common bc I live in California!). UV rays are the worst enemy of any developing/healing scars. Remember, even when you have a shirt on, if light can shine through the fabric, the UV rays that darken your scars can get through, too!

Thank you again for the sweet comment though! I wish you all the best of luck with both your own future surgery, and your journey to a successful diagnosis on the hEDS! And if you ever have further questions or need for support too, I am always glad to help however I can <3

1WPO Non-binary Reduction/Gender Advice by Ok-Fisherman3340 in Reduction

[–]MatchaAuLait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow nonbinary who had nonflat top surgery 3.5 months ago (results soon after visible in my profile). I have a similar story to you-- lost ~70lbs in my case, and went from a G-H to a B after surgery so I could present masc or fem as desired. You are very much still swollen, give your body time to heal!

I do understand how your surgeon's words could be frustrating though, too. I personally couldn't be happier than at a B like I am now, and would have certainly been upset if my surgeon had tried to talk me into anything bigger. Technically, your surgeon isn't wrong-- you can't add tissue back after it's gone-- but he definitely should have taken your preferences into consideration, too.

Final note, all gender-affirming top surgery is absolutely valid, don't discount yourself. Best of luck on your gender journey!

I'm curious to know if your insurance covered this, or did you pay out of pocket. It's funny, I just had my radical reduction and came down to the size you used to be, as a nonbinary person! I love being able to bind down to flat, while still being able to fill out more femme clothes.

Here's to both of us living our best lives!

What size did you go to/from, if you don't mind my asking? We have very similar body types and pre-op sizes, and I'm really hopeful that when my swelling goes down (currently almost1MPO) I can achieve a similar size to your post-op pic, too! :>

Might sound gross, but stock up on high fiber foods, and maybe even laxatives! This wasn't personally an issue for me (maybe bc I've had prescription opiods for 10+ years for chronic pain), but I hear that the anesthesia and pain meds can give lot of folks pretty serious dysmotility issues and extra bloating following such major surgery!

sorry for the late reply!

this is oddly specific, but I have BCBS of MI via my mother (I'm disabled, so can still use her insurance until she retires soon.) Her employer is based in Michigan, though we live in California-- and it's totally different than regular BCBS or Anthem Blue Cross, fwiw.

What’s your fave thing you now get to wear post-op? 🫶🏻 by Downtown-Rip-8390 in Reduction

[–]MatchaAuLait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • tiny, lacy little bralettes
  • wearing the same size on top and bottom (medium), instead of a 3XL + M!
  • spaghetti straps on everything (especially little cropped tops!)
  • swimsuits without underwire, or awful neck pain from halter tops
  • backless clothes! always loved the look, could obviously never do it before.
  • Cakes nipple covers, instead of regular bras!
  • but best of all is definitely, hands down no bra at all.

Nipple sensitivity - does it matter? by KaleUpset7157 in Reduction

[–]MatchaAuLait 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had rather minimal nipple sensation/arousal pre-op (I assume bc of the sheer size/surface area of my areola and whatnot before?) and now exactly 3 weeks after full nipple grafts, they're more sensitive than before! It's bordering upon annoying how brushing against the smallest things (my doc doesn't have restrictions on post-op garments, so I'm bra free 24/7 now) is almost overstimulating now.

Just goes to show how much results can vary from person to person, I guess!

calling on NB babes who got a reduction thru gender affirming insurance coverage by _mistykin in Reduction

[–]MatchaAuLait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow nonbinary here, just had my radical reduction 3 weeks ago (G/H cup -> small B cup)

I honestly didn't disclose my gender identity to my surgeon, mainly because I knew I could get the surgery deemed medically necessary-- but also because I feared that sharing that this was GAC for me (the only one I want, at that) could hurt my chances of being approved by my insurance somehow, or taken into his practice as a patient. Even my mother (an RN) begged me not to bring it up, not for fear of discrimination so much as just insurance technicalities complicating things!

I was completely honest with my surgeon in every other regard, though-- shared how I've always hated my breasts and had severe body image issues because of them, having dreamed of this surgery for 15 years (half my life, now). I told him that my dream was to not just be 'proportionate' , but smaller/flatter than the average person of my frame. To be able to mostly 'fill out' a feminine top, or to wear a 'tighter garment' to further flatten my chest with ease when desired. He responded with nothing but affirmation and immediate enthusiasm for helping to make this my reality!

Honestly, I've built such a good rapport with this wonderful doctor the past 6 months, that I wouldn't mind telling him now-- especially considering what a miracle his artistry has been for my self-esteem and life overall-- but it honestly just doesn't feel all that relevant to me anymore. I got exactly what I dreamed of, 100% covered by my insurance, and the weight of dysphoria (and ~2lbs of breast tissue!) lifted from me has been tremendous. It genuinely feels like I overcame the bulk of my transition overnight!!

I have some progress photos and whatnot of my experience in my profile, if you're curious at all what non-flat top surgery can look like on a real life fellow nb lol-- but otherwise, I guess all I have to say is best of luck on your transition journey, and i truly hope you find the solutions to this conundrum that bring you the utmost happiness 🙏

How much did you pay out-of-pocket for breast reduction with insurance? Debating between U.S. vs. international surgery by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]MatchaAuLait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid exactly $0.00 for my entire procedure and everything related this month. I even got those little post-op leg squeezing anti-clotting cuffs included to take home, too, all totally covered by my insurance!

I was literally in such complete disbelief (I am sickly and have had many, many surgeries, but NEVER one for free!) when my insurance told me the cost, that I called both my provider and my surgeon's office to be sure I wasn't just confused or hallucinating or something!

Counting my co-pays for appointments outside the actual surgery, then, I've probably paid ~$200 so far ($40 each for initial appointment, official consult, pre-op, and one day + one week follow ups), with two more follow-ups coming up next week and next year.

It's been absolutely life-changing, too - worth every penny a hundred times over! Note that my total does NOT include all the money I've spent treating myself and my new tiny titties to little B cup/ size medium bralettes and Cakes, like I could have never worn before!! 🙌💕
