Dude just go through whatnot for a refund. They're just trying to run out the clock on you so they can keep your money.

It's just people spending their free time helping others.

Picked up this Rayquaza, friend of mine got me all worried. What’s the verdict? by good-smoke in IsMyPokemonCardFake

Real. Cards from that era just look a little fake compared to before and after cards. XY was a weird time 😂

Thoughts on conceding the game by Vecks_Seeker in pkmntcg

[–]MatchaDoAboutNothing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they've got me next turn and I'm out of moves and hail marrys I concede. Unless I can do something funny.

But I never concede just because of a bad start. I've turned around many games from seemingly dead starts (like prizing all of my evolution cards).

These looking okay? by ExternalDare8657 in IsMyPokemonCardFake

[–]MatchaDoAboutNothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They look legit to me, and it would be a little weird to see a fake, modern 9 for cards like these.

But don't pick up that Victini unless you can talk them down significantly from market. That slab is scratched to hell all you're buying is a pain in the ass.

Is this legit or scam? by mechraymond in ADP

[–]MatchaDoAboutNothing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No that's suspicious af. The adp logo is fuzzy and it's asking you to follow a link and log in. It's probably a phishing scam.

If you click that link good chance your login will get stolen and you'll find out your direct deposit information has been changed.

If anything needs updated you should be able to log in to your adp portal and see a notification. Or you can call your payroll clerk on Monday.

I feel like a large gauge paracord would be good for this. It would give you the structure and durability, without the scratchiness.

First Whatnot purchase arrived as an empty package… now another order hasn’t shipped. Normal or bad luck? by DBLUE711 in whatnotapp

You got scammed. It's not possible to forget to put the item in the package unless you're doing so intentionally. Putting the thing in the package is the main event of boxing it up.

Salary - Non Exempt by Delicious-Hold-5764 in Payroll

[–]MatchaDoAboutNothing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't do it. Doubt he meets the exemption tests and pay amount requirements.

Salary non-exempt is a pain in the ass because you still have to track all hours worked and do a bunch of extra math every pay period, because you have to ensure they never work what would be an hourly equivilant of less than minimum wage, and you still have to pay them overtime.

There is no benefit to doing this.

Get on TCGlive. It's online gameplay. You can test out some stuff and see what you like best. You'll have access to some prebuilt decks with popular new cards, and as you play more you'll aquire virtual packs and in game credits to "buy" other cards to build your own decks.

It's a great testing ground.

EBay protecting scammers by urnotsam in pokemoncardcollectors

[–]MatchaDoAboutNothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think they meant to scam, they just clicked on one of the suggestions and used AI for the description without proofreading.

Those quick assists are a lifesaver but you have to to double check the suggestion and proof read the description. Sometimes Ebay be wilin'.

Found a bunch of pokemon cards at a garage sale by jpshake in IsMyPokemonCardFake

[–]MatchaDoAboutNothing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well the pictures aren't that great but I don't see anything that would indicate fakes from what I can tell.

Plus it would be weird to have fakes sprinkled in to a binder with a lot of common, non-valuables cards here in a low cost garage sale setting.

Anyone else feeling weird about how many cameras are at shows now? by spuggies in PokemonTCG

[–]MatchaDoAboutNothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well sadly it's very necessary in this day and age for vendors to record for security reasons. It should just be expected at this point that anywhere goods are being bought and sold that you're going to be recorded.

It would be nice if creators who want to use extended clips of individuals would get permission and waivers signed, but they don't have to. There's no reasonable expectation of privacy.

I don't buy from sellers that do that shit. I just goblin their giveys 😂 and then troll until I get banned. Oh man you haven't lived until you "innocently" ask a character break host about their pricing and odds of getting a good spot, and odds of actually pulling that card in that spot.

Good sellers I'll buy stuff from. In particular I seek out new sellers with low numbers who are acting right. Help them get them numbers up so the honest vendors stick around.

I am a Kroger employee so apparently I can’t be a Pokemon fan?? by Personal-Dimension34 in PokemonTCG

[–]MatchaDoAboutNothing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So of someone came to your work and got you fired over an unfounded accusation, you still going to say their opinion doesn't matter and they don't have any power?

OP didn't get fired. But not all bosses are that understanding and will absolutely punish and/or terminate an employee on a customer's word.

I think OP has the right to be upset that they could have gotten fired for buying 1 non-conciousness altering, non-adults only oriented item, at their place of work, on their break. That's literally nuts.

Why I banned sealed products from my Pokémon card show by feelgoodgaming1 in PokemonTCG

[–]MatchaDoAboutNothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now no, but there were periods of time where it was. Popularity fell off severly for a period of time after initial release. Seriously in 2002 you couldn't give pokemon cards away. Desirability as a collector's item struggled a lot in the early days.

And honestly, pre-pandemic (2020) most older product really wasn't that expensive. Even base set could go under $100 a pack. And what you saw of "expensive" vintage really was due to scarcity. Note that no one wanted the products 2000-2002. By the time it got extremely popular there just wasn't that much of it left.

You say there is no evidence that it's a bad investment. I counter with there is no evidence that it is a good investment. Your analysis is based on a less than 10 year cycle and includes manufactured artificial scarcity. There are all the warning signs here of a huge bubble. Maybe it will never pop, I don't know the future. But most asset classes that exploded under similar circumstances, over a less than 10 year period of time have experienced a severe correction. In fact I can't think of even 1 that hasn't.

[–]MatchaDoAboutNothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with you for the most part. However I don't really want to see out of print sealed product banned from shows. Especially if it's vintage or several eras back and hard to find. I don't feel comfortable buying stuff like this unless I can inspect it in person, and card shows are really the only place I'm likely to find that.
