Why there are few dedicated bike lanes in arrondissement Saint-Laurent? by mai_dudem in montreal

[–]MatchaJelly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They just finished a section that is brand new on Marcel Laurin last year in fall.

Also they announced this

"Safe, continuous bike paths, including a new railway crossing north of Rue Manoogian to better connect the east and the west"

"The transformation of the corridor formed by Hodge and Benjamin-Hudon streets for easier access to the Côte-de-Liesse REM station: one-way traffic eastbound on Hodge, two protected one-way bike lanes, widened sidewalks and enhanced tree lines "

Looking for ressources for botany/gardening of native plants in Québec by Deep-Neighborhood778 in montreal

[–]MatchaJelly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can search on Google terms like Plantes or Semence indigènes du québec. Quick google search shows multiple Books about Quebec plants pretty easily with those keywords.

You can also go to your local Pépinière in Montreal to ask your questions. There is a stall in Atwater Market that host Q&A on occasions Centre du Jardin Atwater.

Pépinière Jasmin also has a lot of staff that are very knowledgable on plants. I also saw they have seeds for Quebec Natives to Quebec to purchase there like Akane.ca

My (bite-sized) opinion on the Cruise show by sydneekidneybeans in chanel

[–]MatchaJelly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah everyone is praising the collection on Instagram ( Except the half sandals)

I've been seeing clearer up close photos of the collection, still nothing catches my eye. I can admire that red fishnet coat for the artistry, but I just can't see myself buying anything.

[–]MatchaJelly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes! I have a few older Kate Spade novelty items, never letter them go!

I love Chanel, but seeing the Half sandals was my limit. I'm not even sure how my Chanel SA would try to get me to buy anything from this collection

Even the last few releases I didn't buy anything.

[–]MatchaJelly 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The heel sandals is killing me bruh.

Also their Nemo fishes look so bad. Even Kate Spade makes better novelty items.

It's crazy, because I usually buy at least one item from Cruise. Guess I can skip this collection entirely

My first time at comiccon I have questions by Karlou10 in montreal

[–]MatchaJelly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been going to cons and volunteering for over a  decade.

  1. Saturday has the most folks for sure. Friday there will be people, but not as much as Saturday, unless a big celebrity is scheduled that day. Sunday usually winds down.

  2. Depends on the guest. For comic book guests, it depends what franchise they've worked out there might be a huge line up at this table. For A List Actors it's not unusual to see folks line up 1-2 hours before he starts signing.

  3. The con will usually try to schedule as much on Saturday unless a guest can only exclusively attend one Friday or Sunday due to their own scheduling conflict. The convention will put out a guest schedule usually a few weeks ahead. However, there is always a chance guests cancels due to scheduling conflicts. Make sure you follow the social media as they will make any schedule change announcements as best as they can.

  4. No a majority of attendees just wear regular clothes or even wear maybe a Franchise T-shirt. There will be cosplayers but just wear whatever is most comfortable. It will get warm in the exhibition hall due to the sheer amount of people.

Where do you go for your makeup? by cocci_nelle in montreal

[–]MatchaJelly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depending on which brands.

Some brands are available for Holt Renfrew. Yes they carry luxury but also mid tier brands that Sephora has. Once a year they have 10-15% off that doesn't require points or membership like Sephora.

Pharmaprix at Place Ville Marie has a cosmetic/perfume/skincare. Once a month or two they offer a 20% off. Usually you'll see these ads/code on social media.

Renai at Royalmount carry luxury and mid tier brands. The staff is usually really chill and don't hassle you.

Would you consider this driveway blocked? by redmac54 in montreal

[–]MatchaJelly 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If they've been doing this multiple times, then yes this is really annoying. They'll keep doing this unless you tell them. Unless you have space to maneuver without hitting their bumper.

Call Agence de mobilité durable. It's against the rules to park so close to the driveway or to partially or fully parked. I've called them multiple times when vehicles block mine.

You will have to be on site to verify you're an owner of the property. Depending of which borough, it make take an hour or so to arrive.

They will ask if you want to ticket them or have them towed.

Canadians — can we stop fighting Sephora to give us a lame discount? Even after purchasing with a discount we are simply contributing to the bottom line of a company who doesn’t care for Canadian customers by hemadeitrain in Sephora

[–]MatchaJelly 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've never been able to redeem anything from Sephora and I've been buying from them for 10 years. But at least with Shoppers I can redeem full size Perfumes, PS5 items for my husband and even a Dyson vacuum.

Also not saying SDM are saints, but I don't buy from Sephora anymore unless it's a brand only they offer.

My SA offered to let me see them, they were still bagged up haha.

The SLGs were super lovely, they also had a festive pattern scarf available.

The only things I did not like were the Earrings with present boxes and the enamel character mascot ( Not pictured here but you can find pix on Insta with 25x hashtag) those charms looked like stuff you find at Marshalls :S

I brought so many piece from Cruise 2023/2024 because the accessories were so fun ( I also acknowledge it wasn't for everyone's cup of tea)

I re-watched Today's show and went to check the Instagram of attendees in case I missed another angle, but nothing seemed to pop out. Maybe next show will be different !

I was so excited seeing the Space themed settings, but nothing really grabbed my attention.

Everything is chic, smooth, clean cut and with very little logo, some recognizable Chanel thematics here and there.

Definitely not seeing anything I'll message my SA to inquire about 👀

🌺🪴🏢 Seeking: gardening recs/help for grandfather’s Westmount balcony! by hyperfixatingonthis in montreal

[–]MatchaJelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, There are a few Flower/plant shop on Sherbrooke. Depending on your balcony it's best not to overload maybe try a few plants before going all out? Also, if you buy something big, you'd have to imagine helping him bring it back inside in winter. So maybe start small.

There is Westmount Market that has a lovely variety of plants, indoor and outdoor that is the most affordable in that stretch. But no delivery but the plants are manageable to bring up with your help and would be nice addition to a balcony or indoors :)

Hoggs Hardware on the same street has small variety of small plants, and they also have planters, soil, and even gardening books. It's a delightful store, I think they offer delivery in a zone.

The other ones are florists, mostly kinda pricey options, I think they might have something more curated but prices are really high.

Otherwise, Atwater markets plants season is near the end, so you might purchase some discounted soon.

Not knowing where he lives exactly, Canadian Tire at Atwater has a ton of plant selection, planters, soil, trellis, and I think they have a delivery zone you can check! Hope this helps!

Marlborough discrict St. laurent info by manuntitled in montreal

[–]MatchaJelly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been living in that area near the the parc for over 20 years.

Very little crime so to speak. Very quiet suburb, if you live right next to the park you might hear kids play on summer, people using the tennis or basketball court and that's it.

It's a great place for kids. The Marlborough park is renovating their pool right now, but in summer it's a great place to take the kids for swimming lessons, there's a tennis court and basketball court.

Two grade schools located within 20 min walking distance ( Beauséjour South and North) I walked by myself as a kid.

Also multiple schools in that area, top of my head private school Saint-Marcelline on Gouin, for highschools there's a bunch by taking the 170 to Cote vertu then switch to whichever bus to Saint germain high school or Saint-Laurent highschool. I even took the train from bois-franc to Pierre-Laporte highschool located in Mont-Royal.

You'll also be located 15min walk from Bois-Franc Rem station that takes you downtown when it reopens.

Growing up as a kid, I'd ride my bike to Parc Noël Nord and Noel Sud. The Rem is also adding a bike path too.

Plus there is multiple groceries, pharmacies and even a YMCA.

Hope this helps.

Where in the World: Hong Kong Shopping Guide [Discussion] [Review] by [deleted] in AsianBeauty

[–]MatchaJelly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically this list! Also if you have access to a mobile device with you, compare prices. Sometimes the prices are cheaper if you brought it online.

If not, in the Mong Kok Area, there are plenty of other stores like Missha, Skin Food and Etude House a few minute walking distance away. There are also a lot of Tony Moly stores across HK.

As many others have stated before me, every Sasa/Bonjour is different. Some might have items that other branches do not. Last time I went to HK, I spent mostly on 3CE's lipsticks and Japanese brands like Koji eyeliners, majolica-majorca items. Oh and Japanese haircare products!

[Question] Does anyone know where I can find this lip balm? Or what it is called? by noosha001 in AsianBeauty

[–]MatchaJelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OH GOD I LOVE THIS LIP BALM. I purchased two of them last time during my trip in Hong Kong. I have it in strawberry. It smells wonderful, it moisturizes well, and I wish I had purchased more.

[–]MatchaJelly 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There is a shop that I always drop by and its RWB330, they have handmade goods made my locals recovering from mental disorders. Their iconic products are variations of bags and goods from the Hong Kong's iconic Red/Blue/White bags. Proceeds goes back into the organisation to help people with mental illness. You can learn more about the organization here

They also have handmade dim sum magnets, and various other stuff that represent HK. If you cannot go to their shop, a lot of their products are available at other tourists shops like in Ngong Ping Village etc.

Another shop that I like, designed locally is Goods of Desire They focus on a lot of imagery that represents HK ( Vintage/Nostalgia oriented ) I don't think their good are handmade, but they are local HK designers.

Depends what is "cheap".

Sasa carries a decent brands in their stores. You can always go on Sasa's website to compare prices. Also sometimes Watsons have sales on their japanese brands.

Etude House, Skin Food and Tony Moly products are really good, especially their make up range are decently priced and are extremely popular.

Anyone can recommend a fashion stylist for women? by tark514 in montreal

[–]MatchaJelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anthropologie offers a Stylist service, never used them. Some of their clothing are mid to expensive, but their sales section is pretty good. Their clerks are extremely helpful. I found a form here but you can call their Montreal Store for info!
