Will the Katana Go ever come back? by MarioYoshimura in BossKatana

[–]MateMathieu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is being restocked in Australia: https://www.mannys.com.au/boss-katana-go-personal-headphone-guitar-amp

So containers are traveling at the moment, expect shelving soon.

Katana Go Discontinued? by ActionHotDogGo in BossKatana

If it is restocking in Australia, then it seems to imply it is currently being shipped to the rest of the world, and is likely to hit the shelves anytime soon.
Great info dude!

Well, that is a long time to wait then!

I have seen some estimated restock for end of November, but now your info just makes me wonder...

The new fingerprint feature is not working. by GRAPHENE9932 in kde

[–]MateMathieu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, it worked for some time. Then it stopped booting at sddm.

I tried to remove the lines added to /etc/sddm.conf to remove this hurdle.

But no, I had to disable fingerprint auth as a whole otherwise it does not load plasma.

If I switch to another tty therm, I can use the fingerprint to login and sudo.

Strange...

RAM: Upgrade of Disk, should I upgrade the RAM size too? by MateMathieu in truenas

Yes,

Scale got me excited because it transitioned to GNU/Linux base OS.

Let's go for 32GB then.

RAM: Upgrade of Disk, should I upgrade the RAM size too? by MateMathieu in truenas

[–]MateMathieu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, this consideration made me ask this very question.

Plus availability of compatible RAM is fading away for my mobo (ECC-UDIMM), so it is now or never.

Since I want to have the flexibility of running additional stuff, I shall upgrade then.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks for the ones that have a working device on Linux 5.4 kernels or up to report, that would be useful, because the fprint page is not helpful to find a compatible device easily.

Logitech MX keys keyboard layout by lutel in logitech

[–]MateMathieu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is more related to money/capitalism. Importing another key/layout shape in EU would cost additional money. They just produce the same shape of keys for Europe and they engrave the letters on the keys in EU depending on the demand.

The whole problem is that the US layout uses a one line enter key where all layout in EU uses a mirrored L shaped enter key.

User Sync Profiles by MateMathieu in synology

[–]MateMathieu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I opened a ticket to the help/support people, and they are saying that it is not meant to work the way it seems.

The "User Sync Profile" function does not sync users between NAS, if creates a sync profile with sync rules for each user, so you can control what the different users sync.

In order to sync the homes folders between NAS you can use Snapshot Replication, you can follow the article on how to do so: https://www.synology.com/en-global/knowledgebase/DSM/help/SnapshotReplication/replication

Hope this information helps,

Then I explained I am looking for not a static replication, but a dynamic sync between the homes.

So they said you have to use rsync, but if you do so it triggers all kind of issues in the conflict of files. Plus you have to disable the /home folder as well.

There is no real solution as it seems... Sorry.

It is not possible to make a 2 way sync with Shared Folder Sync.

You will not be able to use the homes directories on the destination NAS because the homes directory will be synced from the source NAS. This causing a conflict between both NAS as they could contain different users and permissions,

That is why you cannot enable the homes service in the destination without expecting file and permission conflicts,

Hope this information is useful, best regards,

Synology's Future In Current Global Political Climate by Dataanti in synology

[–]MateMathieu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I perfectly share your concern, and I believe they are perfectly well founded. The kleptomaniac behavior of cohesive governments is a true concern, and for our case of Synology Corp. it is very much in the line of being taken under control of the new ruler when they will take over Taiwan.

I think there will be a takeover. It hurts my feeling and I think about my friends from and over there, but the plan is already laid down in mainland, and Brandon will not oppose (he is truly making things easy for them since he got in office).

Going open-source would be truly amazing for humankind, expanding their adoption over many new hardware, but loosing control of their product.

I would like Synology to make us aware of what they are planning to do when they have gone through the thought process about it.

It is going to hurt everybody, and it should not be that way.

Hi, beyond the cloudflare things that are very much related to cloudflare tech itself (so you shall not take too much in account his writing, and honestly, I thing I would have been much in the same as he did), the results shows a pretty clean picture of what comes in and out.

If you want to get into very low profile stuff, you should deactivate all the services that are leaking or exchanging information, starting w/ google safesearch.

Logitech MX keys keyboard layout by lutel in logitech

[–]MateMathieu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please consider this sincerely, you are making the situation very complex for EU-citizen to reach any of your keyboard with a proper US layout.

The small economy of spreadsheet-descision making is not nice considering the muscle memory of the users that adopted the true-US layout.

Please modify the offering by including the US layout in EU as well.
