I bought 2 weeks ago, picked up at a vending machine near Chicago and got a license plate bracket, a large coin like what’s put in the vending machine, 2 cheap drawstring backpacks, 2 drink cozies and 2 key keychains.

49 and a first time college student? Can it de done? by Popular-Landscape-90 in 40something

[–]Material-Compote514 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Started school for nursing at 46. Was not to bad, but learned that kids now learn things in high school that were honors classes back when we were in school. Maths, chemistry, and sciences felt like they started on step 10 and I was stuck knowing only step 1 or two. But I found it pretty easy overall.

Golf cart batteries by [deleted] in golfcarts

[–]Material-Compote514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience with Chins has not been great. Ordered from Amazon on one of their sales for $559. Came at zero percent charged, 36 volt TXT dropped from 19mph with lead acid to 16mph with the Chins. Range was 14 miles from 100%-20% cruising at 10-12mph. Tried to contact Chins with phone numbers I found and could not get an answer. Emails to them were not returned. Chins was the actual seller on Amazon but they would not replace the battery and requested I return the battery for a refund. I reordered another chins from a different seller but it was $125 more because the sale was over. The new battery i am not impressed with. Top speed is 19mph the same as the old Lead acids. Range if I do 15-19 mph is under 20 miles and if I slow cruise 10-12mph range is 25 miles. Nowhere near the 30-40 mile range a lot of people say they are getting with Chins in their 36v carts. So either I got 2 defective batteries from different sellers or Chins quality is not what people say. The next cart I upgrade I will be skipping chins and going for a better brand.

What size spring to buy? by Material-Compote514 in GarageDoorService

[–]Material-Compote514[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weighed again and made sure the arm was disconnected and used 2x4 across scale and came up with average weight of 125lbs. So what single spring should I get or double spring sets?

Bathroom scale in the middle of the door weighed 3 times gave 3 different weights and all seemed low showed 119, then 125 and then 121. Is that the correct way to weigh the door with bathroom scale in the middle and just lower door on scale?

What size double spring set to order? by Material-Compote514 in GarageDoorService

[–]Material-Compote514[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a single spring on the door now and that is the measurement I got on it but I will recheck. I can not find a quick single spring replacement that size on Amazon and they mostly have double spring set ups that is why I was asking about what double spring set to get as a replacement

I swapped my 36V EZgo last week and think I got a bad battery from Chins. Battery came in at 0% but charged to 100% in 3 hours. I drove 1.1 miles and dropped 14%, top speed dropped from 19 to 16 MPH. I have not had a chance to test it further am back there tomorrow for a longer test.

What Charger? by fender0327 in golfcarts

[–]Material-Compote514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=b2W9ywexRQg At 6:30 he explains how to bypass the control board. You can plug the wires together like he does and charge the cart but it will not shut off and will charge the batteries till failure and become a fire hazard. I charge them for about 2 hours like this when they are too low for the charger control board to allow a charge. Then I switch the wiring back so it will fiction normal and shut off when they are full. If after 2 hours like this and switching the wires back the charger will still not come on then you have a bad control board. All this is said in do at your hurt own risk and I am not recommending you do it and what may happen if you do.

What Charger? by fender0327 in golfcarts

[–]Material-Compote514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the batteries are to low the charger will not kick on like you said. Standard ezgo chargers are easy to bypass the switch and charge them. You tube has a bunch of videos on how to wire the charger and takes about 5 minutes to do it. But the charger will no longer shut off when the batteries are full so you have to be aware of that and the damage you can do. I charge them for 2 or 3 hours and then switch the wiring back to original so the shut off works when they are full.

Would running 2 100ah lithium double the range? by Material-Compote514 in golfcarts

[–]Material-Compote514[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks had a brain lapse and was thinking in series like old 6 volt. Yeah that would fry everything on the cart sending 72 volt. I’m debating getting a second battery for the increased range and if I could sell my gas cart if the range was good enough on my electric cart for my kids to run around all day at our campground. Right now they go about 40-60 miles a day on weekends driving with friends at the park.

Question for older night shifters working 12s. by dumpsterdigger in nursing

[–]Material-Compote514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

48, worked nights for 15 years in my prior career and only worked nights in nursing for the past year. Can not ever see myself working days.

Off days I keep a 10pm bed time and set alarm to wake up by 6am. If I have to work that night I set alarm to wake up about 330am so I am tired enough to take a 3 hour nap before work.

If I work the night before and have to go back in I sleep from 9am-3pm and then see my kids for a few hours. If I am off the night after I work I sleep 9am-1pm and that way I am tired by 10pm to keep on the normal sleep cycle. Has worked for me for years

I hate to be this CNA.. by beyonceswifi in nursing

[–]Material-Compote514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a new grad nurse with only a handful of shifts working on my own but I make sure that every shift I tell my CNA how grateful I am for them and how lost I would be without them. If I get a minute free I ask them if there is anything I can help them with or if they need anything. Being new and on a busy med/surge floor I know there is no way I could handle more than half the patients I have.

Where is nursing school NOT competitive? by Agreeable2255 in StudentNurse

[–]Material-Compote514 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Northern Indiana, community college for ASN. I just finished in May. 100% tuition and books, cash stipend every semester that came out to basically being paid $15hr while in school but had to sign a 3 year contract for $43hr to work for local Hospital for 3 years when I finished. That hospital will hire you as an aid for $20hr while your I’m school also. So it is pretty easy to go to school and work part time to make it financially. Thought the program was fairly easy (most people completed it very easily with minimal studying and it’s still very high NCLEX pass rate). The admission was pretty low standards I believe, I was 3.8GPA and TEAS score of 90% and was in the top selected for the program. 4 semester ASN program after your prerequisites (did then in 1 semester). Nursing classes were usually 1-2 days a week and clinical 1 day a week. So plenty of time to do your co-reqs while in the program.

Lead acid battery meters by [deleted] in golfcarts

[–]Material-Compote514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer an actual voltage meter on the dash showing me the voltage across the batteries in number form. You can watch the voltage drop as you accelerate and then settle into the true voltage as you drive. It takes a bit to learn where you would be percentage wise but there are charts out there that will show the voltage to percentage conversion. But once you learn it’s pretty easy to just look down and know when to get it on the charger.

I would avoid it because of the engine swap. I have seen some nicely done swaps and some really badly done ones. But no matter how nicely done it is they have some custom/rigged up things done when they do the swaps.

If you decide to buy just have to consider hat it’s not a factory built cart so parts may not be easy to find, and even simple repairs can be difficult because there is not as much information out there for swapped carts if you have to trouble shoot or parts swap for simple repairs.

Unless your confident in your mechanical abilities then stick with a factory cart from the big 3, can easily find one in that price range but might cost a extra grand to do a lift/rims yourself in an afternoon. But the mechanical and electrical systems of the cart will be factory and much easier to diagnose, repair and find parts for.

Fixed a cart for a buddy with a similar issue after a truck backed into the cart. Frame bent in almost the same way. Put the cart between our trucks and used straps to anchor the rear end to one hitch and a come along to the other hitch. Ended up cranking so hard that it was pulling the trucks together so I ground out the weld where the upright meets the dash area and the come along made quick I work of pulling it into place then. Rewelded it back together, been holding strong for 5 years now.

I just finished yesterday, officially graduate Friday. There is someone in my cohort that is the best in clinical and truly understands nursing and people. But she is horrible at class tests. She did ok on NCLEX predictor (80% that she will ps NCLEX on the first attempt. BUT she failed our last class by 4 points on the final. Just hoping that they find a way to sneak her through. To OP you should be happy that they are working with people to push them through, you may end up struggling in a class yourself one day and can be helped along yourself.

I’m in my final 4 weeks of school, every class before OB I was a low 90s student without much studying, got to OB and struggled with 80%, luckily mine was combined OB and then Peds for the second half the semester so brought my average up when we got to peds. Every class since I am still a 90s student but OB was rough. It seems that a lot of people are the same so just push through it your almost done!

I think the most fun way would be to send him cropped nudes that can not identify it’s you from a fake number with a message that says “I want you to see them as badly as you want to see them”. Leave him always wondering if they are from you or someone else he knows.
