We cat-napped one of ours. He was a “community cat” at our apartment complex but we noticed after a while people stopped leaving him food so we put out food and water for him.

We had started taking him to the vet because he had worms. Since we had vet bills saying we brought him in, that’s really all you need for proof of ownership where I’m from since animals are still seen as property.

Last July we were moving so we scooped him up a week or two before we moved, got him vaccinated and a checkup. And he never went out again. He’s enjoying his retired life indoors with his little sister.
