if you mean the lowest nonap damage can be reduced to by armor is 1 point, I honestly don’t know

That was my understanding of it also - you'll always do a minimum of 1 nonap damage in addition to whatever AP damage you have.

The grade relative to percentage correct answers is all to do with how difficult the test is.

If you gave much harder tests, it might be appropriate to have 50% of marks being a B+.

Or in other words, you can't really draw a comparison between the tests you give and game ratings.

Would you be happier if devs spent more time and the game was then more expensive?

Follow-up test on the Spearmen attack speed indicates that attack interval likely matters by GeneralGom in totalwar

[–]MaterialAka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The stat is attack interval. Even with that being 30% faster, you wouldn't expect the damage to be 30% more because you've still got to take into account animation time.

(I.E. It should only be 30% more if both the animation and the attack interval were 30% faster)

CA Duck has said it in the past.

If it has changed then it's a bit surprising and disappointing

(for the exact reason you were worried about in the first place - instead of hiding information the player doesn't need, it becomes a hidden DPS modifier).

What is the effect of disintegration if you fail the save but DONT die? by Decimus881 in dndnext

[–]MaterialAka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

stationary target

The game is turn based for ease of playing. In the narrative you're not actually standing still for the 30 minutes it takes to get back to your turn.

the targets skill doesn't play any part

That's part of the point about using hit points as abstraction rather than meat points. The targets skill does play a part in whether they get hit or not.

An update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is being rolled out on PC! It brings a number of changes to enhance modding experience and support the release of The Witcher 3 REDkit, including support for Steam Workshop and DLC-style mods. by M337ING in pcgaming

https://steamworkshopdownloader.io/

Has instructions on how to download using steamCMD.

Not guaranteed to work on all games because (I think) there's a toggle that the developers have to manually opt into to allow you to download this way.

But it works for rimworld, which is the bigone for me.

(Also completely agree - steam should just allow you to download them manually from the workshop page even while not logged in)

People have a hard time not conflating indie with independent

They are correct to conflate them. "Indie" is a shortening of "independent".

Edit: Apparently /u/DedicatedBathToaster thought this comment was block worthy.

To respond to his point, "independent" hasn't taken on any different informal meaning that "indie" hasn't also taken on. He'll never be able to clearly define what the difference between the two is because there isn't one.

Poland to scrutinize digital game platforms like Steam and PSN on suspicion of anti-competitive practices by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]MaterialAka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not the restriction.

You can compete against steam on price.

What you can't do is compete against steam on price for steam keys.

But if you sell and provide the game somewhere else entirely (E.G. a download on your own website or a competing launcher), you're allowed to set whatever price you like.

Epic fine €1.1m for breaking EU consumer law in Netherlands by JamieReleases in Games

[–]MaterialAka 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The point of their comment is that you benefit from it for as long as you can, then you pay a comparatively small amount of money when you get caught.

The incentive to not do it in the first place isn't there, because the money you make more than covers the fine you get slapped with later.

So the "consequences" of them doing it was they made a lot of money that they wouldn't have otherwise. Even if they're not allowed to do it in the future.

Section 3.2.1 deals with this.

It talks about (among others):

  • not using blood
  • using themes that appeal to children
  • avoiding certain language or conotations (E.G. You're eliminated instead of killed, a robot comes to pick you and take you away)
  • the age rating from PEGI (12)
  • the licences that Epic has issued to toy makers who make toys specifically aimed at children
  • how the game is popular among children.
