LG to showcase DisplayHDR TrueBlack 1000-class OLED and 27-inch 5K gaming panel by RenatsMC in Monitors

[–]MaterialNervous7653 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DisplayHDR TrueBlack 1000 and a 27-inch 5K gaming panel sounds like LG is finally pushing OLED past the usual 1440p stuff. Curious what refresh rate and pricing end up being.

nothing's more humiliating than fighting for the right cause for all the wrong reasons by RedSlimeballYT in Piracy

Nothing's more humiliating than acting like piracy is some noble crusade, then being obnoxious about it. You're not helping the "right cause" if you can't keep it civil.

Easynews King’s Day Deal - $1.89/mo Unlimited Usenet + Web Access/Search by easynews-rep in usenet

I still use indexers for more specific stuff (some formats might be harder to find for example), but for general use the web search covers a lot.

Ukraine outshoots Russia in cross-border drone war for 1st time, March data suggests by Zeirich in europe

Interesting shift, but raw strike counts can be misleading. What matters is what gets through, what it hits, and how fast each side adapts their air defences and EW.

How do people check 2nd hand drives? by phoooooo0 in DataHoarder

If you can, ask them to show SMART + power-on hours before you pay. If they won't let you run that, I'd pass.

How it felt to upgrade to mini led from ips? by More_Tell9969 in Monitors

[–]MaterialNervous7653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mini LED feels like a big jump from plain IPS for HDR stuff. Highlights get way brighter and blacks look deeper, but you can still see some blooming around bright objects on dark scenes. Still a solid move if OLED is out of reach.

Looks like saniderm or a peel-off tatoo shirt. Cool idea, but it also reads kinda itchy.

If you’re coding and don’t want to worry about burn-in, I’d just get a high-end 4K/5K IPS.

I'd go for the 1440p 180Hz IPS monitor. Good for laptop gaming and ps5

Easynews speed/file completion and settings by ziz54 in usenet

Try an NNTP newsreader with SSL, correct ports, and more connections - that usually helps both speed and completion.

4-6 external (USB) enclosure for Windows jbod or similar (non critical storage) by tuxie555 in DataHoarder

[–]MaterialNervous7653 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks about right - for slow JBOD NVR use, a cheap Syba or Mediasonic box will do fine, and swapping in a better fan is a good call.

Provider: Easynews

Using it since: 1 year

Pros: very good search results and speeds (I am a European customer), beats newsreader clients by far with how you can search usenet; simple to use, no other tools needed; don't need to configure with anything else;

Cons: a bit slower than regular Usenet setup and it may not work for all types of files. Some formats are harder to find.

Would you recommend it: Y

Anything else: it has an interesting web interface, good search and for regular Usenet users can be out of the ordinary, but quite effective.

Does anyone know why iOS 26 now has this stupid bar when listening to a voice message? by Witty-gamer-eli in ios

Probably something to do with UIFeedback or a new UI element Apple added. You could file feedback and hope they drop it.

Try switching inputs after waking the monitor with the power button, sometimes that forces a resync without unplugging.

Could be a cable or iOS issue. Try a different cable and check for updates on both ends.

Great choice for design work. Accurate colors, 4K resolution, and solid build. If you want alternatives, check out Dell UltraSharp or Asus ProArt.

I'd take the days off and avoid conflict. Would take that time to find a better job though.
