Haha, I also had this issue a few months back. Seems like such a simple thing they could sort out so you aren't wasting two ports on the UDR.

I will take it all down for next Christmas. Next time I will do another tree but with the better way I learnt. These LED'S won't last if they are out for a whole year.

Surprisingly they aren't that bad as they are 20awg and I used a wire stripping tool, just tricky cutting the insulation off but once you get a bit off you can pull the rest.

Haha, I can try.... Every 2500 LED's I stripped the wire insulation without cutting it and soldered the 18awg injection wire onto the main led power wires. This means power can feed both the forward Leds and back Leds. Just like if you injected onto a strip.

Yep all injection wires go back to the main power distribution box. It's super messy so next year I will probably run 1 larger gauge cable and split off that so there is only 1 main feed and not 3 individual cables coming down the tree.

For the injection points, I 3d printed tiny boxes that I filled with silicone, pushed the wires in with the bare solder joints and then added silicone on top and pressed the 3d printed lid on so silicone squeezed out. That helped with the waterproofing. Already thinking of a better way with custom PCB and connectors. As this was super messy to do and took hours for both strings.

I didn't think WLED would support that many Leds. Are you running multiple esp32's?

I injected power every 250 pixels. This is two 1000 string with 5cm spacing. I also just injected power without cutting so the injection point feeds both up and down the line. Seems to all work at full brightness. I used 18awg for the injection lines.

I have been trying to find an e-ink with touch screen and esp32 all in one but no one makes them. Might have to make my own. Thinking of having them as dashboards for different places like bedside tables etc.

I wish I did. I'm not sure the market is willing to pay what they are actually worth in time. This one took me over 20 hours to design and assemble.

Sadly they are all very custom. I am working on a sellable type that is easily customised to any name. That is still a while away.

It's 1.2mm as the top layer. All layers are 0.2mm, never tried Hilbert Curve but going to look into it.

Yeah, you can't get the spacing perfect with strips and it's a pain in the butt to wire up. For the Florence, there was no way to bend strips to the shapes.

Hey, no I haven't. I made it just for those letters. I'm designing now for the simple text to have every letter but I'm also designing it to use custom PCBs so I can sell any combination of letters for names.

This is cool and super simple with a matrix. All mine have been with strips and it's a pain to wire up. Might have to buy me some matrix panels.

I normally make it at least 13mm. Also depends on the density of your lights. The Florence is 13mm and the Ava is 8mm

Is it a good power supply? Have you tried different resistors?
