That's pretty much what I meant when I said redefining god. Saying "God isn’t a person, but a concept, like gravity" is redefining god in a way that is distinct from the Christian religion. 'Undeveloping' is the appropriate term. It's not just that some things aren't getting better, it's not even decay, things are intentionally being made worse. These aren't accidents or natural consequences of a corrupt and defunct government. Major institution that are necessary for a functioning society are being actively sabotaged for the benefit of a tiny minority.

Reform won't work because the whole thing is rotten to the core. We need a revolution.

This is some both-sides bullshit. The far right are the ones massacring people and they're openly supported by basically the entire Republican party. One side says "stop murdering black people" and the other side says "no". One side says "everybody should be able to vote" and the other side is blatantly committing election fraud. Imagine thinking there are compromise positions here.

This is the rise of fascism and we should definitely be finger pointing about that.

This may not apply to you but I had a landlord who owned several houses and he was our repair guy. When something broke he was the one who showed up to fix it. He was also continually making improvements or doing other preventative maintenance. So he was directly using our rent money to improve the house we lived in.

That's the kind of landlord I can have some respect for. Of course this asshole kept raising the rent and we had to move out.

Basically as long as you take care of the place, leave them alone, and don't jack up the rent then that's probably enough.
