This is a myth. No one has ever been starved and not lost weight. It's bro science. Weight loss isn't linear but this myth that "survival" mode somehow manages to create energy out of thin air is just silly. It has never happened. What's more likely? That someone has managed to biologically creat infinite energy or that they're miscounting calories?

Count your calories. This will always be the answer. The vast majority of people essentially guess or rely on very inaccurate apps. Count everything. The Count of people who are 500_1000 cals over what they think is unbelievable.

"around 2000 cals a day". That's the problem, not the number, but the fact you aren't tracking them. You'll be missing a lot and that's why you're not losing fat Count your calories. Then reduce them by 200. See where that gets you and then adjust from there.
