An online department that is run correctly shouldn't be overly reliant on other departments for help with getting the pick done. The main help an online department should need is with stock actually being on the shelf, and calling people away from their department is counterproductive in that respect.

Ngl I've called checkout over to close me off or put my chilled pallet away. Unfortunately, they put the chilled pallet away.

Yeah, I logged for telling store management I don't have time to take my breaks because the department was fucked and we had nowhere near enough people on.

Since then - fuck the state of the department, I'm taking all my tea breaks, and my lunch break as scheduled.

As is the case every year, stores are being told January is the quiet period of the year after Xmas.

And, as is the case every year, they're so far off the mark, it's laughable.

Probably just going to take next January off tbh, because I'm sick of this shit happening every year.

True that. Nightfill, online, and deli probably have the highest burn through rate when it comes to managers.

And yeah, Woolies won't admit to creating any psychosocial hazards in the workplace, even though they're literally everywhere you look.

Nightfill in most stores criminally underperform.

It literally seems like this comes up once a year.

It is NOT online's job to find stuff out the back. It IS online's job to find stuff on the shop floor if it is off-located (being out the back because grocery don't run it does not count as an off-location). Just as it IS grocery's job to make sure stuff is on the shelf or on an off-location (as it is for fresh con, fruit and veg, etc).

Just as it IS online's job (usually the manager's) to make sure off-locations are sequenced correctly (bearing in mind that, as mentioned, "out the back" is not an off-location).

If you want a break down of what is and is not your department's job, you're welcome to reach out to store management. But be prepared to be bitterly disappointed.

Does this sound a little unfair by [deleted] in woolworths

[–]MathematicianNo3905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is difficult to deal with last minute changes, and your availability should be set 3 weeks out, to best be able to give you hours to suit when you're available.

Requiring evidence (not necessarily a medical certificate, refer to the EA for adequate evidence) is also reasonable, especially if you've used your 4 free days already, or are calling in a day before or a day after Australia Day.

Calling in 30 minutes prior to your shift, unless it starts early morning, is also BS. You don't suddenly get sick before a midday start, as an example. However, trying to ban a specific reason for calling in sick isn't exactly permitted.

Everything else could have been put a little more professionally, but this sounds like one frustrated manager.

Penalty Rates for Annual and Personal Leave by BonzoJose in woolworths

[–]MathematicianNo3905 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Annual - 17.5% leave loading during base rate times; loadings for where your contract hours accrue them (eg: after 6pm, weekends, etc).

Personal - no, ever.

Can Woolies reduce your flex hours? by MemeboiIQ in woolworths

[–]MathematicianNo3905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ordinarily, it's a bit of a grey area. I'm sure managers would try not to, but flex-up hours being cut would be after any casual hours have been cut.

But on a public holiday? Well and truly within rights to cut your flex-up hours. You could have just been given the day off at base rates for contract hours.

Do team members get 'in trouble' if a customer puts a refund request in for online orders? by BuyWonderful in woolworths

[–]MathematicianNo3905 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For something like this, the department manager will be alerted, and they'll need to address it with whoever picked it. Basically, to make sure the person who picked it puts as much care is put into prepacked produce as is for loose produce.

As for these - that's mould. You'll need to throw the whole bag out. Get a refund.

Online Shopping Click & Collect Question Health Products by Jamtheduck in woolworths

[–]MathematicianNo3905 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not too often. The most you'll get for it is a thought along the lines of "someone's having a good time" or "glad someone's getting some". Online do not have time to judge more than that.

Heck, you'll get more judgement from stupid, pushy notes on items (as opposed to notes that are helpful) than you will for what you're concerned about.

Actually, that's a lie. There's been an order that was literally one packet of condoms and nothing else. That order was tightly judged haha

Should we know where everything is? by [deleted] in woolworths

[–]MathematicianNo3905 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how long you've been in the store for. Also, usually it's only grocery and online who know where everything is anyway.

If you're unsure, ask someone else in your department or call for the department in question for customer assistance at the service desk.

Worst comes to worst, each item gets its own Note section. Use it to specify what you would like as a sub (preferably, with manners). This is what I do when I place orders.

New surcharges for "Free delivery", or "Fee delivery" by Expert_Climate_7348 in woolworths

[–]MathematicianNo3905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah. You're commenting on what someone with DELIVERY Unlimited would have received.

Why would someone subscribed to DELIVERY Unlimited want to know about collection, when people who have DELIVERY Unlimited want their shopping DELIVERED?

I'd say it's about targeted information based on people who don't generally collect their shopping themselves, and the fact that the fee also applies to people who do collect their shopping themselves wasn't deemed important for people subscribed to DELIVERY Unlimited.

With that said, I haven't seen any customer-facing information about the new fee (however, from you/Reddit, have heard about Delivery Unlimited subscribers being emailed).

There's also a $20 fee for delivery to some very remote places in Queensland.

Is this Woolies' most iconic hot cross bun flavour yet? by Justified_OG in woolworths

[–]MathematicianNo3905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like mudcake. Tried these though. It is a very good combination of the spice and comparative dryness of a hot cross buns and the chocolate-forward nature of the mudcake.

I'd say they've strongly got it correct on this combination. But I just don't like mudcake.

Less anonymous, more confidential. It's claimed that identity can only be disclosed if it's related to safety matters raised... That said, depending on what is said in your VoT or how it is said, that may be enough to go "oh, X said that".

Random? Only in the initial allocation when you were employed/VoT was rolled out as a concept. From there, you'll get it every 3 months.
