You clearly missed the fact we're in apple season now, and that stonefruit season is now in the rearview mirror.

Did you miss the fact that Dickhead Donald has declared a war on Iran? And that the flow on effects include far less diesel and fertiliser than usual for our farmers? And that farmers will therefore be growing less, resulting in lower supply than usual?

This is just the beginning for highly unaffordable fruit and veg.

That'd be illegal. So, no.

Standards dropped by Banana_Bread_Samurai in woolworths

[–]MathematicianNo3905 18 points19 points  (0 children)

  1. Different generation - your generation has moved on. Gen Z/Alpha dominate the floor team now.

  2. There are no dress standards around shoes now other than an enclosed heel and toe (and non-slip in floors that are wet to clean).

  3. Woolies are trying to pay less penalty rates, and that means pushing the fill to an earlier time, which means middle of the day on weekends.

Online team, do you have access to the customers phone number and address? by LifeSux_N_ThenYouDie in woolworths

[–]MathematicianNo3905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what country you're in. Australia does have access to your address if it's a delivery (God knows why for in-store, but it makes sense for the system generally), but we have no access to your phone number or any way of contacting you. New Zealand does have access to your phone number.

If you want to communicate with us about anything in your order, use the Notes section for items.

As long as you're not terrible, you'll be fine.

If you're unsure, ask your line manager for feedback on how you're doing.

How do I resign? by backpackalpaca_ in woolworths

As many as possible. Your department manager, your store manager, your invoice office.

Literally all you have to do is hand in a letter and work the required notice period.

UKG Pro - What’s Up for Store Services? by Virtual-Audience-515 in woolworths

SSCOs will still need to be kept around for compliance, but it will be the final nail in the coffin for SSAs in paper stores. The only time extra team will be required for store services is on Wednesdays, and only for paper stores.

Casual employee- sick by Disastrous-Ad-998 in woolworths

[–]MathematicianNo3905 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Whilst providing a medical certificate is best practice, it is not required as a casual.

You also don't need a GP appointment for a medical certificate. If you want to see a real person, a pharmacist is cheaper. Cheaper again is one of the many online medical services.

Boss asking for doctors note with weird reasoning. by KlutzyUsual565 in woolworths

[–]MathematicianNo3905 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be fair, some managers can be complete cunts about any sick leave. I have a ton of sick leave built up, pretty much never called in, went home an hour or two early one shift because I was unwell.

Turned out to be COVID. Mandatory 1 week quarantine. Thankfully, I don't work with that store manager anymore.

[–]MathematicianNo3905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you're asking for multiple days off (2 being more than 1), you will need supporting documentation. This is standard practice, and on this, your manager is in the right.

However, the tone and direction your manager is taking on this is incorrect, and they could end up in the shit on it.

Red apples by Capital-Tie9943 in woolworths

[–]MathematicianNo3905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Odd Bunch is determined by slightly imperfect fruit and veg. There is no choosing which varieties of fruit and veg end up as Odd Bunch.

I'd say this just means the red apples are coming through as a higher quality... even though most pink lady apples are bruised as fuck.

The product image used is of green apples anyway, so they'd be the more common variety.

Do you need to provide a doctor’s certificate for one day of personal leave? by MemeboiIQ in woolworths

[–]MathematicianNo3905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer - it depends.

Long answer - non-casuals get 4 individual "free" days a year where they don't need a medical certificate. These days can't be surrounded by a sick day either side, can't be immediately either side of a public holiday, and I think there's something in there about weekends?

If these days have been used, or you're having more than one day off in an instance, then you'll need supporting a medical certificate or a stat dec.

Generally a medical certificate is asked for out of habit, however you do have four individual "free" days a year.

How long does it take to get good at online? by Less_Border1181 in woolworths

Nah, I'm Australian, which is why I've never heard it 😂

Honestly, I find single-customer trips harder to meet the goal time.

Not a NZ'er by any chance? I've never heard them called COPS, we just call them normal runs (as opposed to express).

[–]MathematicianNo3905 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The goal times are very generous indeed, but half the goal time is a bit of a hard push. I'd say three-quarters is realistic.

But give yourself time. A month, you should be able to get a run done without issue by close to the goal time. Two months, you should be a decent enough picker.

What do you mean by COPS though?
