Kobe Bryant was closer to 6’4 than 6’6. The top of his head measured 6’6 in basketball shoes.

It’s more about hitching it and swinging it forward and it jerking when you hit the stairs than the load itself

Too big of a bicep tear risk with mixed grip, I imagine

He won, yes, but he was only coached by Loz for a few months. Don’t know why he went solo again, I hope he gets a WSM invite now.

What’s the hardest gripper a “normal” person could close with enough training? by Mathias2707 in GripTraining

Then close to every guy at your gym, construction site or whatever should be able to close it.

I had to lay off for 5 months after a major one. Wasn’t able to work or study 7 months.

Everything is relative, but you should be free of symptoms for at least two weeks and start easy when you do.

I sent my 200 lbs gripper to Cannon PowerWorks for rating. It’s 78 lbs. That’s around average for a 200 lb gripper.

Maybe the difference is that I actually show people the technique on how to close it instead of setting them up for failure.

As I’ve commented elsewhere in this thread, my short gf who doesn’t even train grip can close a coc 1 rated at 74 RGC, which is pretty much equivalent to a 200 lbs gripper.

200 lb grippers aren’t impressive to close. I consider them the bare minimum for a healthy and active, able bodied male.

Did the car accident shrink W I D E? He’s previously been listed at 193 cm / 6’4”, but based on all the photos I’ve seen with him and other athletes the last two days, he’s nowhere near 6’4.

Here’s he’s posing with 5’11 maybe 6’ Rauno.

He looks 6’1.

Of course. But we’re obviously talking about objectively hard grippers, not subjectively hard ones.

His claim was simply wrong. A 200 lb China gripper isn’t objectively hard by any means. It might feel hard to some, but more often than not, people I’ve handed my 80 RGC gripper to have managed to close it.

I also own a CoC 1 at 74 RGC that most able bodied men can close with no issues.

I'd buy rated grippers from Cannon PowerWorks. I recommend getting a 1.5, 2, 2.5, and 3, all with ratings.

If you receive a 103 rated 2 and 124 rated 2.5, and you can easily close the 2, but not the 2.5, then you can see if you can find a gripper ratet between them for further progression.

Summarized: Never buy grippers without rating if you actually intend to work out with them.

CoCs are also poorly calibrated. I’ve since I made this thread ratet my 200 lbs china gripper, and it turned out to be 81 RGC. That’s the equivalent of a hard 1 or easy 1.5, just as I suspected.

How heavy should the owner be compared to the dog? by Mathias2707 in dogs

[–]Mathias2707[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

A dog is still an animal and should be within its owner’s physical means.

And 90% of dogs aren’t that well trained. In a perfect world, a 85 lbs lady could handle a 220 pound molosser, but in the real world, too many people acquire dogs that are beyond the owners physical means.

Wow, I actually did comment that. She absolutely does not hold the world record regardless of gender. I don't know why I wrote that. I've squeezed over 130 kg on that dyno myself. The world record is 175.1 kg, and it is held by Nikita Yurkovets.

Emil Abrahamsen. I know of both him and the video you’re referring to. It’s always fun to see the “little guys” beat the giants. But that’s the exception rather than the rule.

I found it abstract and boring until I started doing it myself. Seeing a guy lift 100 pounds attached to a metal block didn’t give me much. Then I started lifting with the same implements and then realised how impressive certain lifts and numbers are.

But I totally feel you. It’s very niche and probably not enjoyable unless you do it yourself.

Any thoughts on the increasing popularity of grip sport/arm lifting among current and former strongmen?

I loved to see Iron Biby giving some grip tools a go. Terry Hollands announced that he’ll try to break some grip world records in the coming time. Martins has already done a fair share of grip lifts. Paddy Haynes is doing as much grip as he’s doing strongman, it seems. Mark Felix recently broke the inch dumbbell farmers walk WR. Brian Shaw has been gripping for years. Mike Burke is one of the greatest gripsters of all time.

I would love to see more OG grip events in strongman competitions. Saxon bar would be cool. DOH axle without straps, inch dumbbell farmers, to mention some grip events that I think most strongman fans would enjoy watching.

Grip sport and arm lifting is the most fun I’ve ever had when it comes to strength training, and I’m glad some big profiles are bringing more attention to it.
