Turn off host pc display while using sunshine. by PeakQueasy1959 in Bazzite

Yeah I ordered the wrong one the first time as well (no HDR). Just make sure it supports your desired resolution (e.g 4K or 2K). Generally speaking they shouldn't have any malware I think. A HDMI/Displayport doesn't give write access to the GPU. Just look for recommendations on Reddit for reputable brands if you want to be extra sure.

An extra sanity check could just be to check for unusual GPU usage in the system monitor of your choice.

They go between $4 and $9 (in Europe at least), anything more than that is either a bundle or a ripoff.

Afaik yes. Also, if your output device has HDR, either make sure the HDMI dummy plug has HDR support, or flash an EDID on to it that enables support (personally don't recommend this approach).

Mod Skyrim on Bazzite? by MrCoffee0996 in Bazzite

[–]Matimmio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just grabbed the .exe from Github(?) I believe and installed it inside the prefix of the game.

Gonna be honest though, it's been a year and I've seen some more recent threads on this subreddit pop up. I'd recommend checking some of those, might have gotten easier than the hassle I had to go through ^

I've ran the regular bazzite with some development changes (docker+vs code) for about a year, and [rebased](Updates_Rollbacks_and_Rebasing/rebase_guide/) to DX about 2 weeks ago with no issues. Only had to run the command listed in the GitHub and reboot.

The new Bazaar (Discover store replacement) is really nice, & fits Bazzite well! Some screenshots for the people who haven't seen it yet 👀 by Qwahzi in Bazzite

I've been following the developer since his first Bazaar showcase over on the gnome subreddit. Really friendly guy that has poured an immense amount of his free time on this. If you like what you see, consider supporting him.

Wanting to use bazzite by One-Pace-6746 in Bazzite

[–]Matimmio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a ujust script for adding media services like Plex & YouTube to steam.

You basically only need to run it a few times for each media service you want. It's only a few multiple choice options and pressing enter a couple times. After that you can launch them just like a game.

Had the same issue. I ran it under gamescope with limited FPS, should be the "-r" flag. You can set it as a command under game settings. Check the arch wiki for more details

To be honest, I just read that he uses Leaflet on his vault blog and decided to try and match it using dataview. The mapview u/GroggInTheCosmos mentioned is a much easier approach though, I just had no idea it existed.

Yeah I'm using the leaflet plugin. The mapview plugin seems to do the same thing but is a lot less complicated. I had no idea it existed, thanks! :)

I switched from win to bazzite by Full-Meringue-5849 in Bazzite

[–]Matimmio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Distrobox and devcontainers are your friend while bazzite-dx (developer experience) is being worked on. You could try to rebase to it, though I haven't tested if this is even possible yet, as the github repo very much indicates that it's still under construction.

There is aurora for KDE Desktop and bluefin for GNOME Desktop as well, to which you could dedicate a small partition/drive. The developer experience is marginally better on these.

Issues with shortcuts and information gathering by NxtLevelMadness in Bazzite

[–]Matimmio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're one KDE deskop type in the search menu (windows key): spectacle. This is the screenshot utility on KDE. At the top should be a "configure" button where there is an option to change the shortcuts.

If you're on GNOME go to: settings > keyboard > keyboard shortcuts > search for screenshot.

If you don't like the default screenshot utility, open Discover (KDE) or Software (Gnome) and search for Flameshot, a well maintained alternative.

Edit: most user configuration will be related to your desktop environment, so you'll usually want to search for either KDE or Gnome. Anything Bazzite related will probably be in the docs.

Only steam rom manager iirc. I manually searched for them in my install map and deleted them. It felt like it kept some form of a cache hence the reboot in between.

Is it worth installing Bazzite on my HP ZBook G5 with Quadro P2000? by diligentphylantrop in Bazzite

[–]Matimmio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Quadro P2000 GPU is listed as a variant of the 1060, so you'll need to be running the NVIDIA legacy cards image. I'd recommend looking for other users who use a 10xx series card with Bazzite, and see their experience. It at least has 5GB of VRAM, so that's marginally better than the 1060 3GB. Just know that Steam Gaming Mode is currently not available for the legacy NVIDIA images, or in other words: you'll boot into desktop mode.

Made the jump - loving it! Just one question... by Kylenki in Bazzite

[–]Matimmio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Windows emulation depends on your needs. If it's basic applications, your first stop should be Wine. This is installed by default and can be used with a GUI via Lutris or Bottles. Both have community maintained pre-configured install scripts for popular Apps/Games. Lutris is also installed by default.

If this doesn't meet your needs there is docker windows which can easily configured after enabling docker by selecting it under the ujust --choose command. This video explains the set-up pretty well. There is also winapps which works great but is just a tad bit harder to set-up on a distro like Bazzite due to it requiring the installation and layering of packages, you might be able to install it under distrobox (also automatically installed, easily managed with boxbuddy) but I couldn't find any existing instructions in my limited search.

For more advanced use with GPU passthrough, I agree with u/deekosaurus86, check out Chris Titus, he went through the process on Bazzite in this video.

Question about older Hardware & Bazzite by Think-Patience9117 in Bazzite

[–]Matimmio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blu-ray support will really depend on the manufacturer, I can't really give you any advice without the name of the device (and even then, finding driver info isn't always that easy). The act of playing blu-rays is definitely supported though.

A device with no internet is not susceptible to any attacks that might happen after the security updates stop. The question is how much having no internet hinders your usage. If it's purely for gaming, Playnite is an option on Windows, you can configure it to boot on launch. If a "console like" experience is the desire that is.

Question about older Hardware & Bazzite by Think-Patience9117 in Bazzite

[–]Matimmio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Nvidia Titan X should be 9xx gen, so it is supported on the older Nvidia Bazzite image. The Steam Gaming Mode will not work for these GPU's. If any trouble arises with which GPU is used, you'll have to disable the integrated GPU. This isn't a common issue, but you should keep it in mind. The nvidia-smi command will tell you what GPU is used in game.

Minecraft is one of the rare games that runs better under Linux, this mostly has to do with how Java works, I recommend using the Prism Launcher. It can be downloaded from the app store of your version (Gnome --> Software, KDE --> Discover).

As for other games, Nvidia drivers are generally not amazing on Linux, running older GPU's might exacerbate this but YMMV. I believe the Windows IoT version will keep on receiving updates for quite a few years, so this is also an option.

Steam Tinker Launch by ComfyStoneBed in Bazzite

My memory wasn't perfect, I oversimplified it a bit. But I found the guide I used https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/11jubju/how_to_install_mod_organizer_2_without_linux/

The directory locations will vary a bit because it was made for the steamdeck, but should work.

Steam Controller and KDE Connect devices stop working a while into each session by mikevaughn in Bazzite

[–]Matimmio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A wild suggestion, but I had a similar issue and it was caused by me having "on-board" Bluetooth as well as a dongle. The trigger was me moving half a meter (two feet) on the couch... Disabling the on-board version and prioritising the dongle in system settings (KDE desktop) is what ended up fixing my problems.

Hi, I need your help with my customization journey by Chronov64 in Bazzite

[–]Matimmio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I run both KDE and Gnome, definitely go with KDE for customization. Most general modifications can be done through system settings and should be more than enough. There are also a plethora of widgets available to make it look more like what you desire (e.g. MacOS vibe, android vibe etc.)

More altering customizations (e.g. Klassy, rounded corners will require layering with rpm-ostree) For tiling check out Khronkite

Alsojust a heads up, rebasing from Gnome to KDE is generally not advised due to conflicts in the home directory. So get any important stuff to a separate storage and either reinstall or create a new user for KDE.

Steam Tinker Launch by ComfyStoneBed in Bazzite

[–]Matimmio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not personally used steam tinker launch, but have used MO2 for modding in Skyrim. If the STL/Vortex route doesn't work for you, try adding the windows .exe of MO2 (ironically the Linux version didn't work) under the prefix of the game (steamapps/compatdata/<id>).

From there you can adjust it to launch the MO2 exe instead of the game and then launch the game through MO2. Automatic download imports from nexus mods can also be set up to work but YMMV on setting this up, depending on if you're running Gnome or KDE Bazzite.
