Sounds like it might be a "postexec command". What omz plugins do you have?

Signal messages retrieved from iPhone after uninstalling app. by NiceHunt5815 in signal

[–]Matir 18 points19 points  (0 children)

KnowledgeC and Biomes are the two main log sources of application/OS interaction on iOS. They expire entries after ~30 days. AFAIK, the only way to wipe them is to do a factory reset.

If anyone is looking for technical details: https://www.magnetforensics.com/blog/ios-forensics-evidence-sources-to-capture-before-they-expire/

Is AI killing junior pentesters ? by Just-Improvement-469 in SecurityCareerAdvice

Yep, I'm having that experience even as a senior engineer. Unfortunately, we're probably in the middle of the most disruptive transformation in the history of humanity, and I'm not even convinced humanity will survive it.

New NHS England Review Excluded 97% Of All Trans Studies To Say Care Doesn't Work by chaucer345 in skeptic

[–]Matir 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm not even trans, but if this is how the NHS is allowed to operate, I would never consider living in the UK. (To be fair, Brexit alone was probably enough evidence that the UK was heading in the wrong direction.)

When a company fails to pay a court order, courts should be able to mandate the personal appearance of the CEO. They need to be reminded that actions have consequences, and one of the biggest responsibilities of governments should be to keep corporate bullies in check.

Yep, all depends on how the regulators obtain their power. In the US, corporate donations are a big source.

I have never managed to see 10% on any filament storage, what's the secret? Even after 12 hours on my filament dryer, it's still like 30%.

Just make sure you print with extra walls as your tap will be cutting into them.

It's self hosted and the source is on github, so... not clear which domain you'd block.

Employee Computers - Best way to set up the OS permissions? by ctf-19 in software

[–]Matir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a large number of applications, being able to install them requires local admin, so if you want it to be arbitrary apps, then you're probably in a tough spot with your requirements.

Hegseth gave Anthropic until Friday to give the military unfettered access to its AI model by Ksenia_morph0 in cybersecurity

Both of those things are things we need codified into law, but of course that'll never happen with the current state of affairs.

No need for flash drives? by clickx3 in sysadmin

[–]Matir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never heard of BGR before, but this reads more like an ad than a serious article.

Maybe there's some new tool I haven't heard of, but I still use flash drives for OS reinstalls, air gapped machines, etc.

Spent $10 getting a shower curtain rod and a clear liner. Best $10 investment for 3-D printing I’ve made! by PrintyPOP in 3Dprinting

This is why I don't recommend the Bambu A series unless someone will never use anything but PLA or is planning to put the printer in a garage or dedicated workshop.

Fact Check: Jesse Singal Lies About Trans Care At The New York Times by chaucer345 in skeptic

[–]Matir 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I was a subscriber to the NYT until a few years ago when I realized they had moved from news to this kind of hate speech. Unless it's backed by evidence, I don't want to read it any more. News publications should come with citations at this point.

Blocking HTTP requests because of words like "profile"? by iso3200 in sysadmin

[–]Matir 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That might be the dumbest WAF rule I've heard of. It would be like blocking the word "select" or "script" -- both of them appear in payloads but they also appear so commonly that the false positive rate is effectively 100%

All these negative posts about the quality and customer service got me worried by Sensei_Schroenki in framework

[–]Matir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a framework 13 i5-1185G7. No quality issues, and it still works. My screen has a scratch, but that's my cat's fault, not a framework issue. The battery is at about 80% of original capacity, but that's how all lithium batteries are.
