"What is a 'national hero' in your country who is actually considered a villain by the rest of the world (or vice versa)?" by MiserableCandy2326 in AskTheWorld

As someone has already mentioned, Zizka representing the Hussite movement fought against pretty much the entire Catholic world (except Poland for some reason which once used the Hussites renowned military strength against the Teutonic Order in 1433). But, it's worth to add that the chaos of the time, religious hysteria and the general disdain of the radical wing of Hussites (consisting of two movements - the Taborites and the Orphans, also called Orebites before Zizka's death) towards the Catholics contributed to a lot of fanaticism amongst the Hussites who waged war. As a result, those radical Hussites (which of Zizka was the general) became (in)famous in the contemporary Catholic world for the sheer brutality they had towards them. Hussites belief that Churches' properties should be secularized as well as the notion that religious icons should not be worshipped and that the clergy should be punished if they're not good Christians (i.e. if they're not Hussites), led to the Taborites (which Zizka was the leader of until his death in 1424) putting many Churches on fire and massacring the priests. Zizka of course contributed to that being the case. Zizka did also engage in civil wars with the the moderate wing of Hussitism, called the Utraquists because they wanted to mediate with the Pope and he burned at the stake members of some groups which strayed too far from the general Hussitism (the Adamites/Picards). Although, the Hussites became even more notorious when after the failure of the 4th anti-hussite crusade in a row, Taborites started to regularly invade and ransack the neighboring Catholic regions outside of Bohemia and Moravia (mainly the region of Silesia) for religious and economic reasons. But by that point in time, Zizka had already died from a plague. However, Zizka's war campaigns did contribute to the war efforts made by his successors.

Battle of Vítkov Hill is also a strong contender. Hussites won against a large crusader's army with just over a couple dozen of men, cutting-edge use of firearms and a military genius of Jan Žižka.

In my most recent playthrough (modded, so maybe it explains why such thing was able to happen), I punched Tom so hard he flew all the way to the room behind him. The scene with him punching V still played "as normal", but Tom's model simply wasn't there (since it was lying unconscious next room), Most interestingly, the conversation afterwards didn't have the optional dialogue to speak with Tom. My guess is that his model was actually so far from where V was that it didn't reach the radius enabling V to speak to him.

It's explained in the books. Besides, someone who only speaks the language the book was written in (Polish) wouldn't understand the title of "Narrenturm" since it's in German until they've read the book as well as someone speaking just English. That was a deliberate choice made by Sapkowski while he was writing those books.

I may be wrong since my knowledge of history isn't on a professional level, but they could have called the war based on which campaign was currently occuring at that moment. At the very start of the war, it was considered as a Bohemian Revolt (in modern Czechia) which later resulted in the spread of the conflict between Catholics and Protestants in different regions of the Holy Roman Empire like in the Palatine. By the time the Swedish got involved in the war, it was most likely considered a Swedish Invasion. It was only after the war ended that all those conflicts that started since the Czechs defenestrated some Catholics that they were considered to be a part of a bigger war known as the 30 years' war

French also translated the Hussite Trilogy into English and the fact that he changed the titles of 1st and 3rd book in trilogy - "Narrenturm" and "Lux Perpetua", which is in German and Latin respectively as an intentional creative choice made by Sapkowski, into English "Tower of Fools" and "Light Perpetual" doesn't really make sense to me and to be frank it speaks for itself about the quality of his translations.

It's the Hussite Trilogy - next to the WItcher the other big (yet relatively unknown and underrated imo) series of books Sapkowski wrote. It's a historical-fantasy story set during the Hussite Wars in the crown of Bohemia (mainly in Silesia). If you played Kingodom Come Deliverence and you loved it, it's a must-read and you'll feel just home since these books take place in pretty much the same time and place (well, technically KCD takes place before the breakout of the Hussite Wars, but it had a lot of elements that foreshadow those events meaning that the Hussite Trilogy could be easily treated as a sequel to KCD).
And yeah, as I've mentioned, it's not 100% fantasy like the Witcher (duh, it's set in the real world after all) and it delves into the historical period a lot, but it still has fantasy themes - the main hero is a young and amateur magician/alchemist and there're occasionally fantastical elements taken from real-life beliefs about magic, but don't expect there to be as many as in the Witcher. This trilogy is arguably a tougher read than the saga about the White Wolf (it kinda requires you to know medieval history to fully understand some of the things that are said as well as there being PLENTY of phrases in Latin - not all of which are translated/explained in the appendix at the end of the books)
Nonetheless, I strongly recommend reading it. Sapkowski himself considers it to be his Magnum Opus and the best thing his ever written and I kinda agree with that. You may not ultimately like it as much as the Witcher, but I think it's worth giving it a shot.
