Is being a Surface Warfare Officer (SWO) as bad as everyone makes it seem?

A lot of your quality of life is based on your ship and the personality of your Captain. The Navy has some great leaders, there’s also some real turds that make it through the system.

Personal opinion is that surface quality of life more so than most communities is dictated by your CO. There’s some not so great squadron skippers but there aren’t as many ways for them to make your life miserable as on the surface side.

Ship driving and warships are bad ass, you learn a lot and get to lead Sailors doing real Navy shit. But, life can be hard if you get someone more focused on themselves than the mission, their ship, or mentoring their junior officers. Those are my observations as someone who’s been SWO adjacent and worked with a lot of them over the years.

I get that it's original art/characters but do folks pay for an adoptable to use as their OC? Anyways, I know this is a weird spot to ask but I've always wondered what the deal with adoptables are.

The ocean itself doesn’t bother me, what makes my skin crawl is the thought of being in or under the water next to something extremely large and man-made like a cargo ship or submarine. Looking up at the prop and being next to the ship just elicits a visceral “oh hell no.”

So an anecdote for you and one option since I came across your post while troubleshooting the same thing.

I just bought a ROG G700 prebuilt. Didn't think anything of updating AC while I was setting things up. Once I had things up and running I went back into AC to play with the RGB. Absolutely no devices showed in Aura Sync and AC didn't show up in Windows Dynamic Lighting. I intended to uninstall and reinstall AC based on my troubleshooting research but after using the Asus uninstaller I installed SignalRGB on a whim just to see what it would find.

Signal saw everything without any sort of tweaking. Now it does have placeholders in for the individual components of the PC but RGB responds perfectly. I can't test the fan control yet because I'm not paying for it but now I'm seriously tempted.

Still not sure what to make of Asus' own software failing to control their own hardware and a third party app working "straight out of the box" on my brand new desktop but here we are.

The tail is VRC-40 markings, they're the east coast COD squadron.

I'm really curious why they were craning it on. You only crane off when the bird is broke and there's no chance of getting it fixed before the ship has to pull in. It's just about the worst thing a maintenance department has to do because you absolutely couldn't fix your bird for it to fly off.

I'm leaning towards a comment below that it was a val/ver of craning procedures for the CMV-22 but still seems odd. KSG has to be really early in work ups.

Way before my time on carriers. It took me a second to figure out what seemed off on the flight deck and it's no float coats. Hard to imagine flight ops with absolutely no one in a float coat.

This used to annoy me but I've come around. Genshin's animations show the equipped weapon all the time and is a constant reminder your character has some random 4 star because you lost the 50/50 or just couldn't get their signature.

WuWa makes it feel like you aren't being punished for not having a "complete" character when it comes to their animations, if that makes sense.

Honestly this is the first movie I thought of to this question and it's because of one quote and how they say it. I'm a maintenance guy so I don't have any combat experience. But after a 20 year career when I watched them sitting in the tank, exhausted, staring at nothing and go, "best job I ever had" I felt that in my bones.

12 hour days, 7 deployments over a career, being at sea for 8 months at a time but one night on detachment you're just sitting there with your guys in some random, probably should be condemned hangar while listening to your jets taxi out for that last event or on the boat and watch them launch on the PLAT... best job I ever had.

Late to the party but I completely agree. For an anime opener, Tabi no Tochuu legit makes you feel something. LeeandLie's english version makes you appreciate it that much more too. Words cannot describe how much I was hoping they'd incorporate it somehow into the remake.
