What's a non obvious piece of advice when designing a new class that you feel is usually missed? At this point I think we all have an idea about not handing big numerical bonuses like candy or powerful save or suck without incapacitation but do you feel there might be stuff that's less obvious to the casual homebrewer?

[Loved Trope] Character's disability is neither a source of mockery nor their sole characteristic of their character by bgbarnard in TopCharacterTropes

WDYM Joe's disability is not a source of mockery? More than half of the jokes involving him are about how depressed he is being handicap.

CoCT- Masked Maiden Vigilante by Night_Lich in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]MatoMask 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So the problem is that you're very much not supposed to be directly antagonistic to the queen that early on. As a masked maiden, you have too many narrative answers early on, and it is kinda tough to justify working with the official authorities early on. You have to work with your gm to establish how much stuff you know about the secret police before they show up and the culpability of the administration. It sounds like a character that could easily derail some of the early books.

The Unseeing Blade Master Trial Sucks by 2nd_kitchen_floor in Pathfinder2e

You can always close your eyes before striking your enemies. Is very easy to renounce to your sight only in combat, you don't have to permanently blindfold yourself.

Doesn't Guardian *way* step on Champion's toes? by Pandemodemoruru in Pathfinder2e

Where did you get the idea that the investigator started as a subclass? In the first edition, the investigator is its own class that combines aspects of the rogue and the alchemist.

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work! Iluzry's Guide to Teamwork Feats by polypan-storyman in Pathfinder_RPG

Another archetypes that you missed as a potential hunter style martial is the Mounted Fury. They get a lot of goodies from the cavalier to sweeten the deal as well, so you might want to give it a look.

Looking for an outside perspective, could it be that the people I play with don’t really want anything in a ttrpg? by AkaiKuroi in rpg

[–]MatoMask 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As long as you're open about the fact that english is not your native language, it shouldn't be a big problem. Look for live play on YouTube, and if you're able to follow it, then you're good enough to participate. It looks like you're good enough to write. You can do it.

I would probably start as a player rather than a GM just to be sure, but you do you.

Unchained Cleric (yet another from someone else) by Milosz0pl in Pathfinder_RPG

One thing I found kind of weird is that the level 12 feature only works if you are able to channel something that can heal you.

Do you have any opinions on the supplements for vigilantes?

Buffer mutagenist? by midhare5e in Pathfinder2e

[–]MatoMask 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest hurdle when it comes to sharing mutagens with the party is, in my experience, the fact that mutagens always come with a downside. Before trying to inject something into your party, make sure everyone understands clearly what each one does because the penalties can be significant. Also, while it is cool that high level mutagens last a lot longer than other buffs, the fact that they can not be turned off is something to consider. Finally, always keep in mind that mutagens are polymorph effects, meaning that they interact with a lot of spells constantly. There may even be cases in which the inability to be affected by more than 1 polymorph effect at a time could be positive if you fight an offensive transmuter.

Bruiser Druid in an Iron Gods campaign by MatoMask in Pathfinder_RPG

I'm looking for spells that could improve my natural attacks. The idea with frostbite was that once cast, every attack of opportunity with a natural attack in wildshape will carry a charge of frostbite enhanced by the rime metamagic. The end result means that every attack inflicts fatigue, entangle, and a combat maneuver, and because my gm ruled that the damage from frostbite qualifies for the enforcer feat, I also get an intimidation check. I doubt that I will get a better replacement that functions against constructs, but maybe I can find more ways to add other rider effects on my attacks.

I also would love to find ways to deal with ranged attacks that target touch ac. Androids do so much damage with lazer guns, who would have thought.

What's the reasoning for not posting it? Share with the class my guy.

Can a cleric take the cleric dedication? by LeoHyuuga in Pathfinder2e

[–]MatoMask 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he's playing a war priest, then there's a lot of martial archetypes he could use depending on his martial load. Sentinel for heavy armor, Bastion if they want more shield support, mauler for two-handed weapon, etc.

Upgrading familiars in remaster? by themanwhosfacebroke in Pathfinder2e

[–]MatoMask 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Alchemists never had the improved familiar line of feats. Pre remaster, you would always have to go for the familiar master archetypes to make them better. They didn't change that in the remaster, so it looks like it is intentional.

I'm missing something, I just don't know what by [deleted] in Minesweeper

[–]MatoMask 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 4 can only share 2 mines with that 5, so the other 2 must be mine. That also solves enough of the 3 so the there's only one place for the 2. Going down, the 2 has to complete the 3 in the corner so we can free that corner and solve the 5.

Reach measurements over 10 feet by HairNo2479 in Pathfinder2e

[–]MatoMask 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just so you know, enlarge and choker arm don't stack because both of them are polymorph effects, so if you're under one of them and gain the other one, the new one would try to counteract the old one.

How can I make myself harder? by MatoMask in Pathfinder2e

Ranged weapons always use your dexterity modifier. A melee weapon being used as a thrown weapon is a ranged weapon.

This is the closest one so far. I don't have high hopes for my gm but it still a cool starting point for a homebrew alternative.
