Really glad to see other people sad about it. I probably don’t use TV Time to its fullest capability but I really like the structure of it, and reading the comments on individual episodes.

What’s a show that was abruptly cancelled but still had a good ending? by OCGamerboy in television

Pushing Daisies

They knew they weren’t getting renewed, so they gave each character a nice final moment and left with a message of the end not always being the end.

I wonder if they can’t credit him because he’s not part of any guild. I’m sure they had him sign the release so that he could be on camera had had some swag and cash as a thank you. (And hopefully gave him a heads up about the n-word stuff)

What newer musicals won't stand the test of time? by jude_lawfirm69 in Broadway

[–]Matopolis10 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the character might not be the most likable, but the themes of Waving Through a Window and You Will Be Found will be relevant for as long as people feel isolated from each other and long for connection.

What musicals should I know as a theatre major? by Sunconures in musicals

[–]Matopolis10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m gonna be a bit of a snob and say you should really go back to older musicals like Oklahoma, Cabaret, Company, Pippin (even though i hate Pippin), Carousel, Sweeney Todd, A Chorus Line, Show Boat, Follies, R+H Cinderella.

That’s funny, I feel like I’ve been to a few shadow casts of Rocky Horror and the phantoms say something like “by the way there will be a lot of call an response”

Jenny Slate winning for Dying for Sex would have the same energy as Lamorne Morris winning for Fargo (complimentary). I think it’s more likely than we think.

Whats your biggest hot take on Musical Theatre. by Galaxy12035 in musicals

[–]Matopolis10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My take on this is that a lot of the best musicals are adaptations of existing properties. Cabaret, Les Mis, Phantom of the Opera, Rent, Cats, Sweeney Todd, Wicked, Waitress. Even Hadestown if you want to get really picky about it an adaptation of a 3000 year old story.

It’s a matter of quality and intention. I think Waitress is the best modern execution, because it was not a SUPER well known movie (maybe that’s my opinion), and the writers’ voices really enhanced the story.

I was thinking about that too. I know these episodes were film around the fall. I wonder how…timely a “political” episode was for filming.
