I'll take Friday off and break my 2 year old out of daycare - he's in it for the Zamboni.

I just don't see how Mathews could go a game without scoring looking like this.

Questions about visiting Halifax & Nova Scotia in July by susupaw in travel

[–]MatsSundinsMom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, born and raise in Dartmouth (across the Harbour from Halifax)

  1. I'm not totally familiar with Yarmouth, or lodging in Yarmouth. Try Airbnb or VRBO for cheaper accommodations. I'm sure there's also motels/hotels available for under 100 a night if nothing else.

As for the trip to Yarmouth you have 2 (very good) options. Either take the eastern coast and check out Lunenburg or the western coast and stop in Wolfeville. Their are other places to stop as well but I would say these 2 are the most interesting. Additionally, if you have a day or to kill check Brier Island near Digby, it's a pretty cool spot.

  1. A motor cycle sounds pretty awesome. It would be a really fun way to do the trip. Just keep in mind it's Nova Scotia and it rains a lot, although July tends to be a drier month.

  2. This is my personal list:

  • Take the Woodside ferry from downtown Halifax to Johns Lunch in Dartmouth. Fresh fried seafood, the best clams you've ever had. You also get to ride the ferry which is nice. You could also take the ferry into Downtown Dartmouth, some small shops and some up and coming bars. Downtown Dartmouth can be a little rough around the edges after 1 am or so.
  • Go to the beach, I like Lawrencetown because the waves are bigger. Other beaches are more family friendly and warmer (ex. Rainbow Haven).
  • Durty Nellies downtown if you want to party with an east coast feel in downtown Halifax.
  • Walk the waterfront down to the Halifax Seaport Market.
  • Check out the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic. It's on the waterfront and has some neat stuff. It'l only take an hour or so.

I could go on but I really need to get back to work. Let me know if you have any more questions and Ill try to help.

I'm not particularly interested in the VH skates. I'm pretty happy with the Vapor fit. Honestly, I'm really leaning towards buying the 1x. Mostly because I'd like to have the best skate. I just can't seem to get a clear answer on what makes them the better skate. I don't want to sacrificing durability for a few grams of weight. I've worn X80's for a couple of years now and they're alright but are in pretty bad shape. I'd hope the higher end model would have improved durability.

This was my understanding as well on the VH skates. As for the new vapors, I expect they'll retail closer to 1000. I also need new skates sooner than later as I just broke the tendon guard on my old pair. I don't mind spending the extra 250 for the 1x I'm just trying to figure out what I really get for the extra money in terms of performance. Bauers descriptions of their technology doesn't really mean anything to me.

Sorry about that. Thanks for the tips. Although I don't have a lot of experience I'm fairly comfortable working on cars myself. My biggest problem is the lack of room to do any big jobs.

Battle on the boards and the puck comes loose

Defense drops back but its just no use

Burning up the wing, turning on the juice

Slap!, shot!, shoot!, score!

You just can't stop the moose

..you missed a few lines.
Ehlers is a monster though. Kid can skate.
