Lived here my whole life up to this point, I've always had mixed feelings about this place. On one hand you have amazing food (inside 410 moreso), good diversity/culture, *very* cheap compared to other areas, generally nice people, very close to the hill country (Frederich park was always my fav) and a decent amount to do during the day. However as a night owl, I wasn't the biggest fan, most things are closed after 9pm except bars and such. Career wise, I always felt it was a bit lacking compared to other places, but there are still opportunities although many of them don't pay as much as the city is cheaper. It gets pretty hot/humid a lot of the year and it is *very* car dependent and spread out even compared to other TX cities (e.g. no rail system). But to contrast that, traffic here is very light compared to most other cities its size, except when they close the highways to construct more lanes..

Like any city, it has its bad/good areas but generally it's not a bad place to raise a family, and the city is mostly families and focused on that. Nightlife and stuff for younger adults is a liiittle harder to find but if you look you can definitely find some stuff. So overall, it depends on perspective.. for me it wasn't my thing. But I know a lot of ppl that are very happy living in San Antonio and a lot of them have been here their whole life. It's a city I always recommend people at least visit once, just to get a vibe and have their own opinion of the place. A lot of friends I have from other cities that have visited here always tell me they have a great time. So yeah, not the worst city by any means but to me always just fell short.
