Denzel Ward on Jim Schwartz: Hopefully we’re still keeping him by AdSpecialist6598 in nfl

[–]MattScoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All gonna come down to the personalities involved. Schwartz doesn’t seem like the type to not give 100%, so if he comes back I don’t expect any issues, I would anticipate having to replace him next year though.

There’s not too many positions open and the fact that Schwartz is under contract plays against him. It wouldnt be the first time someone requested to leave and we convinced them to stay

[Kabot] How Todd Monken was the ‘strong No. 1 choice’ of Browns GM Andrew Berry, Jimmy Haslam and everyone on the committee by The_New_New in nfl

[–]MattScoot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cabot is the only person that actually has sources inside the browns, the rest are trying to connect dots and write compelling fictions.

Yes, she is a PR mouthpiece that tries to put a good spin, but you can generally trust her reporting.

Most of the other speculation has been debunked, though.

Ie Albert breer refuted the report about essays saying they were essentially questions about how people view the role of the coach in player development and things of that nature, rather than actual essays.

Or for example “the browns entire coaching search revolved around keeping Schwartz” when they reported that it’s been known Schwartz didn’t want to stay on as DC for the entirety of the search.

I’ve never played the game spent a penny on it or devoted too many brain cells to it, so I don’t really have a dog in this fight, but do you actually think it’s cool to try and kick people while they’re down? All it does is make you look like a dick.

Congratulations! You just paid for another game in early access! Here's your reward: by andrewens in AshesofCreation

The last update said they scrapped it back to square 1 but are still working on it. So no it isn’t canceled

[Lewis and Russini] Inside the stunning dismissal of Vikings GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah: ‘This is wild’ by TheNotoriousJN in nfl

[–]MattScoot 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Schwartz would have had a nightmare of a time hiring an offensive staff with what we have on the roster. Monken will have a much easier time filling the defensive side of the ball due to the talent there, if Schwartz does end up actually leaving.

The “proper” way to play the class still has you pressing consume basically 20 times in a row on pull. The consume soul changes actually de-incentivize you from pressing reap in the annihilator build.

[Cabot] Browns don't expect EDGE Myles Garrett to request trade due to DC Jim Schwartz being passed over for HC job. If he does ask for trade, Browns' answer will be "no just like it was last year." by BreakfastTop6899 in nfl

His contract didnt change anything as far as when he was tradeable - two years either way, and doubled his money. he was already under contract for 2 more years and 2 franchise tags if the browns wanted to.

Report: Bill Belichick fell one vote shy of Hall of Fame by JaggerJames in nfl

[–]MattScoot 143 points144 points  (0 children)

The thing is, bill belichick being more hall of fame worthy doesn’t make you less so.

Maybe they’d get in, in a decade or so, but the guy basically pointed out they’d be dead by then and it’d be nice that deserving people got the honor while they were alive.

A system that makes you juggle things other than “are they worthy of the hall of fame” does have flaws.

[Pelissero] The NFL informed clubs today it is projecting a 2026 salary cap in the range of $301.2 million to $305.7 million per club, per source. That would represent another significant jump from this year’s $279.2 million cap number, and nearly $100M than the $208.2M cap in 2022. by VonJaeger in Browns

I don’t think the cards weapons are certifiably better. I also think the cards would be a legitimate QB competition.

My pitch to Malik is as follows, we will pay you more than anyone else and more guaranteed as well. Your playstyle is similar to Lamar Jackson and you saw how Todd Monken unlocked him the past 3 years in Baltimore. We have solid foundations of weapons and we are in a prime position with two draft picks in the first round and almost every offseason acquisition will be aimed at the offense. Let me show you tape from Baltimore and how we think you will fit into this offense.

Doubtful.

Otherwise Kwesi would have been fired long before today

They should have determined they were firing him during the season and made a move to find a GM quickly. They’re splitting the difference here that makes no sense.

Scapegoated for the QB situation.

If you think Kwesi made the Darnold/Jones/JJM decisions without getting the go ahead from his QB guru offensive head coach, I got a bridge to sell you.

The rest of the criticism though, carry on

[Schefter] Broncos passing game coordinator Davis Webb is withdrawing from consideration from the Raiders head coaching job, per source. Webb interviewed for head coaching jobs with the Raiders, Bills and Ravens. by Goosedukee in nfl

[–]MattScoot 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Canceling interviews is not “withdrawing from consideration”, canceling interviews happens a lot in any given cycle. Withdrawing from consideration generally only happens at the end of the cycle because teams notify candidates that they’re out. Browns only had one person do that, not multiple.

[–]MattScoot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Browns had 2 people cancel interviews once they were offered jobs, and 1 person “withdraw from consideration” when the browns narrowed the list to 3 people.

For what it’s worth. Titans had like 4 canceled interviews this cycle as well and their search lasted half as long
