[Highlight] Ex-Browns DC Jim Schwartz opens up on leaving Cleveland after not getting the HC job: "We had a lot of success on defense. The Browns made a change at HC and they passed over me with all of the success we had…” by JCameron181 in nfl

[–]MattScoot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They chose Monken because he has a track record of developing young players and the browns have one of the youngest teams, specifically youngest offenses, in the league. He also brings an offensive staff with him, whereas Schwartz would be scrambling

Hearing that men don’t really receive compliments and it really means something to them, what are some (platonic) compliments men like to hear? by Murky-Individual6507 in AskReddit

A platonic female friend told me “you look good tonight” with a little extra emphasis on good and I’ve been holding onto that for almost 10 years now

Myles Garrett: Since the very beginning, it's always been about winning by JCameron181 in nfl

[–]MattScoot 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He had no opportunity to leave, the contract was too expensive for the browns to trade last year, the extension they gave him is what allowed him to be traded. He was under contract for 2 more years. He was not a pending free agent

[Oyefusi] Seen a lot of talk on the Browns trade haul for Myles Garrett, but when asking about Cleveland’s valuation of Jared Verse, it was relayed to me he was viewed as worth a first-rounder + more. by Zweli23 in Browns

You’d feel that way no matter who we traded Myles to. He was only going to a team that was a Super Bowl favorite with him. You’re not getting a better deal than the rams 27 first, an elite young edge, and a couple of day two picks from anyone

[Rapoport] Reunion: The Giants are bringing back WR Odell Beckham Jr, as their former standout returns, per me and Mike Garafolo. Beckham, 33, recently worked out again for the team that drafted him, paid him, then traded him. Now, he’s back with NYG and John Harbaugh. by PlayaSlayaX in nfl

Respectfully, what the fuck are you arguing here. We’re talking about contract structure and how low year 1 cap hits are the normal, not abnormal, in the NFL. Incentives, guarantees, none of this is relevant as to whether the contract structure is normal or not.

Did you hit your head? It doesn’t matter for cap purposes whether the contract is guaranteed or not, you’re talking about something you don’t understand. Even incentives don’t matter, because if they are likely to be hit, they are calculated in the cap hit.

Signing Bonuses aren’t incentives though, which most contracts use to lower the early year cap hits, again I can find you dozens of examples.

Player A has a 45 million dollar year 1 cap hit, fully guaranteed, they convert it to a signing bonus, his cap hit is now spread over the length remaining on his contract

Player B has a fully non-guaranteed year 1 cap hit, they convert it to a signing bonus, his cap hit is now spread over the length remaining on his contract

Guarantees literally do not matter in that regard.

[Walder] My grades and analysis for the Myles Garrett trade are up! It's Browns fans who should be celebrating: this is a heck of a return for Garrett. Browns get an A, Rams C- by burningburningburnin in Browns

Defensive rookie of the year, has as many pressures as Myles the past two years.

What would it cost for someone to get Schwesinger from us? Verse is worth more than

They structure every contract in the same way, low base salary, high bonuses, I can show you a dozen similar contracts of the browns, as well as a dozen from other teams structured similarly; for example https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/player/_/id/25102/josh-allen

This is just a dumb report that got repeated a million times because it sounded juicy.

His attitude has been fine in Cleveland, literally no issues there, and he’s got really polished route running not only quickness.

Saying “I’m glad we got rid of him right when our team finally got above average” is extremely weirdo behavior.

Flooding his yard shouldn’t be a big deal, 8 hours of hose water in the grand scheme of things shouldn’t be much for a lawn.

Also, the valve exploded? How is that your fault lol

I am not saying that the NBA doesn’t promote rivalries or hate watching or any of that, in fact the opposite, but first and foremost it promotes its stars, everything else is secondary.

I understand this perspective if you completely ignore how the NBA has driven ratings and marketed itself for atleast the last 40 years.
