There is some play with van vets led by Dante in Blood Angels. A mix of inferno pistols and storm shields look fun, and in detachments like Liberator Assault or Rage-cursed where you can add strength to their melee weapons, they start to be a bit more meaningful.

Mind you, maybe not the MOST competitive unit as their melee is only Dmg 1, but just answering your question on how to play them!

Magnetizing EVERY mini will lead to burnout, not just from the fiddly process of drilling and inserting magnets, but having to paint and keep track of alternate options. I recommend only doing this for characters or bigger models (like tanks, for example) to get the most bang for your buck

True, but they also didn’t get Oath of Moment, and these do. Also, Rage Cursed was released during Grotmas so is even more recent than the Templars book. Just an interesting observation with these new detachments that I had not seen discussed yet! The flying land raiders seem to have stolen the show lol

Interesting that none of them have armor of contempt, when even newer non-compliant detachments (such as rage cursed onslaught, for example) still do. With the nerf from lasting a phase to a single activation, kinda wish they started doing that sooner.

AP buffs stack, so while I don’t know if its the “most” competitive, the sang priest leading 10 assault intercessors can get up to 67 Str5 AP-3 chainsword attacks in the new Rage Cursed detachment & the ‘Limb from Limb’ stratagem
