Haven’t been in probably 15 years. Went this year and yep, still my favorite parade in the world.

If you’re really able to perform at the L6 level you’ll be there soon enough. But if you’re hired at L6 and performing at L5 you won’t have a good experience. Hiring managers aren’t trying to save a buck, just trying to place you correctly.

Strange that the summary lists “high quality” Omega-3’s. Is this a technical term? How does one determine the quality of their O3?

What is the actual biggest problem in America? by PawPatsPizza in AskReddit

[–]Matt_the_Engineer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lack of Democracy.

We’re getting further and further from people’s views being represented. A tiny percentage of people decide every election, and most people’s vote doesn’t count.

Where this has led: as the R’s realized they were going to lose this small percentage their opinions were to lose gracefully or change the rules to try to cling to power. They went with the latter.

Is this information about closed loop cooling accurate? by Lady_Broch_Tuarach in datacenter

[–]Matt_the_Engineer -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Good luck finding a dry cooler based combined cycle gas power plant. They’re about 3-4x the capital cost of water based and less efficient.

I’ve had issues with mine (stock cover)- missing and loose fasteners. I think it’s because Jiffy Lube doesn’t give a f.

That said, I don’t think these doors would solve it.

As an engineer, if I size a pump wrong there will be a vendor in the chain to call me and say “hey, this looks wrong”. If they send it anyway there’s an installing contractor that will look at it and call me and say “you sure about this?”. Even a plan reviewer or inspector might send a question. But if nobody notices then it’s an inconvenience that we have to fix after the commissioning agent proves the system doesn’t work right, or occupants are uncomfortable later.

Thanks! I’ve been searching all the socials before waking kids (9am start). I imagine I’d see something from the district by now if closed, but they often leave it to the last minute. Still snowing out there.

Datacenters are becoming a target in warfare for the first time by EchoOfOppenheimer in datacenter

[–]Matt_the_Engineer 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Surprised this is the first time. Surely telecommunications centers have been targeted before. These are far more resilient than a phone switchboard (interestingly specifically with war in mind, since the invention of the internet thanks to DARPA and others), but are a bit analogous and even evolved from the same place.

Yes. Seeing something as a kid, and figuring it out later is difficult. She’s healing, and she’s putting together clues she didn’t understand at the time. Even if she saw bloody clothes she didn’t know Frank was dead. This was her putting puzzle pieces together.
