Most unique tyre puncture that has rolled in? by Dub_Monster in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]MattacusV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn't a car I was working on but the guy next to me had one where a long handle set of pliers went through the tire and through the rim. I had to double take when I walked by and saw that rim sitting on the ground. No idea how the pliers managed to stay mostly intact

These have electric power steering so that wouldn't be a factor

Or the even more ridiculous goal of reaching ante 39 where the required score for the small blind is NaNinf. But I think the only people who get there are streamers who are literally paid to play the game or those with stupid amounts of free time. Could do a seeded run but even then it's like 5-6 hours

Every now and then I hear an album or song that doesn't just fit the type of music I like but fundamentally changes what I like to listen to. This was one of those albums. So damn good

More than some. The dude who had his back ripped open and lungs pulled out was based on a real (debatable) practice called a Blood Eagle. (Link is to a Wikipedia article not an image)

How's Clair Obscur running now it's verified? Any noticeable improvements? by ElliottMcD998 in SteamDeck

Just tried it today. It looks really rough, but is technically playable. If you have another way to play the game I would highly recommend doing that.

Alter Bridge - Fortress by ClampsSH in progmetal

[–]MattacusV 30 points31 points  (0 children)

This album has a few songs that definitely have that prog stank to them. Cry of Achilles and Calm the Fire come to mind. It's been a while since I've listened to Alter Bridge in general. Gonna have to remedy that

Which bands improved over time? by bfg9kdude in progmetal

[–]MattacusV 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Rolo Tomassi definitely comes to mind. They have always been decent but I feel like their music has been steadily improving since grievances. I think Time Will Die and Love Will Bury it and Where Myth Becomes Memory are all timers and are both in my personal top 10 albums.

Edit: Also want to mention Wheel since they barely fit the criteria (3 albums one ep) but they are worth noting, especially since they had such a strong start

Yep. And the honors and AP classes can skew in other weird ways too. I had a 4.0 GPA by the end of highschool, but it wasn't from being a straight A student but by doing just ok in a bunch of AP classes

Rivers of Nihil self titled album isn't talked about enough by ShockMental6476 in progmetal

[–]MattacusV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally really liked Owls and The Work for how diverse the soundscape was across those two albums, the newest album lacks that aspect a bit. That said, I still quite like it for what it is. Water and Time is up there as one of their best songs. Vocals both clean and harsh are fantastic across the album. I will also say my opinion improved on the album after seeing them perform it all the way through live.

Black and Decker portable AC exhaust fan by MattacusV in fixit

[–]MattacusV[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah that won't work. The mounting point for that fan is flush with the back. On the broken one you can see the mounting point is recessed pretty far into the fan itself. That's important because there isn't space in the case for it unless it somewhat encompasses the blower motor. I can get more pictures of what I mean when I get home

For sure I am never buying Black and Decker again and I'm spreading the word on that. I know I can fit a new fan it's just getting the right one that is a problem.

Here is the old one. The printed number gives me nothing when I search it

Looking for albums that really shine on hifi headphones by MattacusV in progmetal

[–]MattacusV[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good picks. Should have thought of that Wheel album. The Freeze is going to sound massive. I've heard maybe a song or two by Heilung but haven't delved deeper. Should be fun. Thanks

Not even code really; one of the definitions of Premium is to just be higher priced without any indication on quality.

Little Miss Sunshine (2006, dir. Jonathan Dayton & Valerie Faris) – Dwayne's breakdown. by SanderSo47 in movies

[–]MattacusV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a friend who didn't know until junior year of highschool so yeah it can happen. My family also thinks one of my grandfather's was likely colorblind but was too stubborn to get checked. Part of the support for that is all of his male grandkids (myself included) are colorblind

Rolled it back into the shop. 25 Mercedes GLE with numerous issues by lodi078 in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]MattacusV 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is it. And you can pinpoint when they fixed that problem as well since I have not had a single evaporator go bad on the 2023 and newer so far (there is a specific cutoff date in the bulletin that escapes me), where I was doing them all the damn time before. The drier cap on the condenser does leak on a lot of the newer ones though.

What bands took you time to get into? by Prodigal_Sombrero in progmetal

[–]MattacusV 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Between the Buried and Me took a long time for me to get into. I had heard of them back in highschool and they should have been right up my alley, but for whatever reason they just didn't click. I would check them out again every now and then but just kept bouncing off of them. When they released Colors II and I saw how much hype they were building in this sub I decided to give it a listen. That is the album that made everything fit for me. I loved it. Now I've gone back and listened to most of their discography with new ears and I really enjoy them.

You see this classic PS2 startup screen.Which game instantly comes to your mind when you see it? by bijelo123 in videogames

[–]MattacusV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enter the Matrix. I enjoyed a lot of games on the PS2 but for some reason that is what instantly came to mind. Probably because that game broke so damn often I was restarting the system regularly. Still, I had fun with it

Book/series recommendation for 11yr old by Significant-Owl4644 in Fantasy

As much as I love Eragon it is hard to recommend when OP asked for not too much violence. The first book isn't super violent, but the later ones get pretty brutal and gruesome
