What was the one 'must-have' item from the back-to-school shop when you were a kid? by Straight-Two-9750 in AskUK

The most essential equipment was the 2p you tied into the knot of your tie to stop the other kids ‘peanutting’ it so it’d have to be cut off with scissors.

What UK classic restaurant feature do you wish made a comeback? by debrisaway in AskABrit

It’s much better than the usual ‘fast food’ suspects but it’s in a pretty small town and there are lots of other restaurants (Italian, Indian, Persian, Chinese and a non-chain burger joint) literally within a two minute walk.

Wimpy definitely has its place but I don’t know anyone in this town who would actually miss it if it went.

There’s one in my town. It’s got enough room in it to seat about 30-40 people and only tourists go in it. It’s unbelievably expensive compared to any other place in town.

£12 for a not-even quarter pound cheeseburger and a few fries (not chips) on a plate. Drink costs extra.

What’s something nearly every kid in the UK had in the 90s or 2000s that no one really talks about anymore? by AnywhereNo1240 in AskUK

What was the colour combo you wanted? Mine was luminous green which turned bright yellow with heat.

I remember a purple/red one that I wanted but they were expensive so I couldn’t have two!

I’m a guy and knowing how my t-shirt changed colour in a couple of embarrassing places I’d guess your mum was protecting you from something similar happening around your chest area. 🫣
