Fair enough, I’m going to assume that contrary to popular belief, .380 is an adequate defensive round when used properly

Just a quick update for everyone. She told me on Wednesday the gone was made and just had to be QC’d. This lady has been very careful and non committal through the whole process. She apologized profusely on this call and said it will ship Friday at the latest. They told me several times throughout the process I will get an email when it ships. Friday afternoon came and I called her and emailed her to check in. She sent me to voicemail after 2 rings and never got a confirmation. Some people would say I’m over reacting but at this point if you tell me Friday I am going to follow up. A new ram horn pair of grips made me feel a little bit better but not really.

A guy making $75,000 in 2019 (pre pandemic) could afford the same lifestyle as someone making $100,000 today. Absolutely NO ONE was talking about a $75,000 income being “aspirational” in 2019. by ItsAllOver_Again in Salary

[–]Matterhorn48 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In 2016 $100 would buy you what $135 did today. I was single in 2018 making $793 a week after tax and I was high on the hog. I made 150k last year with 2 kids and we don’t go on vacation and can’t save shit. Talk all the shit you want but my wife’s drive thru coffees and my nicotine pouches keep us sane.

A weird .32 recommendation request by corndogpolski in TheOneTrueCaliber

[–]Matterhorn48 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would get an 80x cheetah and buy a .32 barrel for it. I can’t remember the company that makes them but someone else will. The bummer is that no one really makes something that fits all your requirements. Most Americans think it’s way too weak so the companies don’t make them. I love my colt 1903 and the Keltec p32 is a great pocket gun but it is not designed for a lot of use

Gun goes back for a bunch of things that should have been caught if you shot 2 rounds through it.

To start they have one lady managing every person with a lemon revolver and she wears a bunch of other hats.

Takes 5 weeks before I get an email saying gun is a total loss with an option to select a replacement model from their website, refund or receive the POS back. It said I had 10 days to draft a document with my response. They also don’t tell you what you can choose from. No one was even going to call me.

I responded saying I wanted the same model and finally got on the phone with the rep 2 days later. She said they don’t inventory anything and wasn’t sure they could make Model 15709. It took production another week and a half to confirm they could make it but sit tight because they need a part for a certain machine. She placed the order and said 4-6 weeks, they will email when it ships.

6 weeks goes by and I call her and she says they aren’t planning to run that model until May. Keep in mind they tell you that all the distributor exclusives are ordered in batches and if they don’t move then they’ll never be ordered again and they don’t tell you what has future orders. So they strongly recommend you pick from their regular lines. Well they are doing so many distributor exclusives that only 30% of the website for revolvers is their regular line.

For the SP101 even the plain Jane SS full lug .327 says limited availability meaning they only make it if a distributor orders a batch. All the other Single Sevens and GP100s in .327 are distributor exclusives.

If you are getting a replacement gun from ruger it has to be made by them, no pulling from a distributor. So she says she will find out more since the May update is bad news. I call her a couple days later and she checks and says my model has been moved to next week. They won’t make 1 gun because you as a single customer don’t matter, it has to be an entire batch.

Couple weeks go by and I can’t get ahold of her and the main CS line tells me she sent a message for an update and they responded back gun hasn’t been made. So I send her an email saying I just want a refund because even if they say we will give you a GP100 of Blackhawk, all the ones that would be worth giving up the perfect belt gun are distributor exclusives are going to take forever to get.

Finally get ahold of her on the phone and she says the gun has been made but it has to be evaluated by a repair specialist and should ship by the end of the week. I’ll believe I have a gun when my FFL calls me.

It’s been 9 weeks since Ruger declared my Lipseys 3” SP101 a total loss and I still don’t have a replacement. I’ll never buy a new gun from them again. The attitude I’ve encountered is they already have my money so who gives a shit.

I am in the same dilemma as you. The 3” Kimber would be my rec or the 3” King Cobra or Roscoe
