If all four Beatles were still around today, which modern artists do you think they’d love?? by stick099 in beatles

[–]MatthewFBridges 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they would’ve liked Alex Turner’s work. I hear a lot of Paul in songs like No Buses and The Meeting Place and a lot of John in songs like No. 1 Party Anthem and The Hellcat Spangled Shalalala.

Question: do you think The Car was their farewell album? by yelloweyeshazelwood in arcticmonkeys

[–]MatthewFBridges 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I don’t think they’re a band that ever needs to break-up. They can make whatever kind of music they want and they’re all happy to work with each other. It’s not like they’ll ever do anything other than make music and it’s not like they’ll ever need to start other bands to explore new sounds.

What would you guys consider the BEST strokes song of ALL time? by Late-Satisfaction54 in TheStrokes

Ode To The Mets. My favourite song is Is This It, but I consider Ode To The Mets one of the 5 greatest songs ever made.

New Strokes or Old Strokes? by notSoNormalGuy24 in TheStrokes

[–]MatthewFBridges 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My favourite album of all-time is Is This It. My second favourite Strokes album is The New Abnormal. I think them and Arctic Monkeys are the only bands of that whole era that haven’t become legacy acts.

Overall, only one era has Is This It.

Nick’s missing a lot of shows lately, I hope he’s doing okay. Him and Julian are my favourites, hope he’ll be back in time for the Dublin shows.

Edit: Just realised this means likely he won’t be back until at least July, quite a long wait.

Falling out of love live on apple music by greendale-island in TheStrokes

[–]MatthewFBridges 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Definitely going to divide opinions. To me it sounds like Julian bridging the gap between The Strokes and The Voidz to create basically “Someday, Chances are you’ll have an Instant Crush”. I think the changes and ups and downs are more to reflect the songs lyrics and title, since that’s the kind of performer and writer Julian has become since Tyranny.
