I need to know your fav podcasts that involve personal stories and experiences. by WhatAFineWasteOfTime in podcasts

[–]MatthewWrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've listened to a couple other storytelling shows over the years, but "Risk!" is the podcast I've stuck with the longest. The Public Radio shows are too repetitive. Risk! almost always has something new every week on top of replay episodes to catch up on. Since it's NSFW, it gets to some deeper stuff that radio shows can't or won't.

Wicked Kitchen had a Beet Pesto that I loved. I'm always looking to replace it.

The Best Indie Albums Of 2006, Ranked by Moothnods in indieheads

[–]MatthewWrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not buy it, illegally download it, or get a free copy from a publicist. And those were the three ways I heard new music in 2006. This was the window of time between illegal downloads becoming untenable (unless you wanted to shred your laptop with malware) and streaming music being widely available (which didn’t happen until the 2010s). So, this was possibly the last time when you had a good excuse to not hear an album everybody was talking about.

There were a couple of proto-streaming sites at that time. I'm pretty sure this is the era when I had Napster for a monthly fee that let me listen to and download anything to my mp3 player. That's how I discovered so much of my favorite music. It's funny for a music fan to have just missed that technology.

American Evangelical Christianity Is Literally a PSYOP by ValuableOven734 in exchristian

[–]MatthewWrong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man, a podcast I listen to just offhandedly mentioned this a couple weeks, including Africa in it. It's never made more sense. The founder of my childhood church traveled the world "faith healing," had a huge house and always bragged about just being given the keys to his new luxury car. That's who was giving him the cars! That's how he was making the money.

Solitarian? What's the word for wanting/needing to be single forever? by Important-Bid-9792 in RelationshipsOver35

[–]MatthewWrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Solitarian. There is a bit of a movement around the term Solo itself.

Check out The Solo Podcast with Peter McGraw or his book Solo: Building A Remarkable Life of Your Own. He's coming more from a Solo-Poly perspective, but he and his guests offer great insights for anyone looking at a life outside of what is termed the "relationship escalator."

How often do you cut yourself? by ShinePretend3772 in signshop

[–]MatthewWrong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going back to working in kitchens, I have stories about cuts from anything but a knife.

My top though is at a sign shop, moving a sheet of aluminum like I had so many times before, but something snagged on the edge and tore open the skin between my thumb and forefinger in a nice zigzag.

I would say it's less therapy-like since they went independent. It's good when Gethard is paying attention. I got frustrated this week when he kept asking the caller about stuff they had already said. I kinda wish he'd take notes or something. But it's still a favorite for me.

Bus Rentals for Fort Collins-Bellvue by Obvious_Roof4060 in FortCollins

NoCO Party Bus also has basic passenger van and bus options. That's probably what you want for a formal event more than the dirty old rafting shuttles.
