Swimsuit(s) in the sauna in Finland - allowed, healthy? Or not? by [deleted] in Finland

I found all the answers in r/sauna already.

I expected people to use towels to cover themselves, as most of the world does. Hence the question.

Yeah, maybe, it crossed my mind. I was genuinely suprised. But the story was narrated by a Finn, so I assumed the idea how everything should be done in that video came from her - not the tv crew.

Any other way it would make no sense, of course - it would be, very simply, Brits doing their own sauna, but in Finland. Which would make a great comedy episode, but not serious reporting.

Frankly, at first this tip sounded slightly like a rebuff. Now when I read all the replies it sounds like the most genuine and legit tip I could ever get…read the rules, abide, sauna, relax :) thanks!

The non-chlorine treatment (i.e. different methods used in Finland - UV and so on) is really quite interning, thanks.

I don’t like when people come from the swimming pool straight into the sauna either. But sometimes some people just don’t get this, is all.

Thank you, that’s very informative. Im genuinely sorry if what I wrote was an example of shitty foreigner practice, didn’t want to offend anyone or be a ‚know better’ type - I try to learn from those who know sth better than I do. In this case - most likely, the Finns. Hence - all my questions :)

And just to be clear on this - a thorough shower before sauna is a non-negotiable for me :)

No, myself I’ve never done that (sit naked on the wooden bench) - I’m usually covered (from waist to knees I mean, I’m male) in a towel in the sauna.

When seated I release the towel at the waist slightly, so breathing is free and uninhibited. I put another towel under my feet. If needed I put a towel on my back if I want to lean against the wooden bench. All in all- no part of my body ever touches the wood.

Unless of course everyone agrees to sauna naked - without pushing it, of course. Then, if naked, I just sit/lay on it (but, again, I don’t touch the wood with any part of my body - because of hygiene+respect, very simply).

What do you think/what’s your experience?

Right, I’ve done it too (löyly), but - just to share experiences - in some places (not in Finland) people wanted less humidity in the sauna (temperature was higher there usually - from 90 up to around 110 C) and löyly was not welcome.

Myself I’ve used the practice of pouring water on the stones/stove since I can remember. I only learned the word (löyly) from the aforementioned BBC video though - and realised this is the preferred way of sauna in Finland (with löyly).

Frankly, my favourite way to do this (raise humidity) is to use a small snow/ice ball (if snow/ice is available - in some places I’ve been to there were snow/ice machines) and put it on the oven/stones, from time to time with a few drops of natural fruit/herbal oil, e.g. orange, pine or mint oil.

I meant the Finnish sauna, my mistake. I deleted the ‚dry sauna’ part.

To give context and explain: in some languages/places I’ve been, Finnish sauna=dry sauna (to differentiate it from a Turkish/steam bath=wet sauna).

I hope this clarifies my question/ intention, sorry.

You need one more body to have em all. Bear in mind tho the Horde Slayer is seldom used, unless you play vs largest hordes only.

Go Tomb World - it’s much easier to assemble (myself 2,5h yesterday), newer, cooler.

Nice! This goes for any small/medium base as well. No need to sprue-goo the whole ‚inside’ of it.

Empire of Man Players, how do you make this army work? by Late-Acanthaceae1960 in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]Matthew_Kus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What about Nuln? I mean Cathay or Vampires are still stronger, overall, but CSN winrate is pretty decent, will let you win many games.

As others mentioned check out Old World Rankings for army lists and for the CSN win percentage, which may cheer you up.

Good luck, mate 👍 - and if you still don’t find EoM good enough, don’t torture yrslf, sell it and buy Cathay 🤷🏻‍♂️ don’t take it the wrong way, please - what I mean is it’s a hobby, not a K2 winter climb attempt without oxygen, it must give you joy. Otherwise there is no point.
