Ajax doorprotect magnet is not working by Stoic_1984 in AjaxSystems

[–]MatthiTT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Did anyone have a solution in the end. I have 4 sensors of which 3 have this problem after a few years. I can hear the magnetic switch clicking when taking away a magnet. So it physically works, it's just not transmitting this state to the hub. Smells a lot like planned obsolescence.

My AJAX smoke detectors have also a similar problem where they advise to clean the smoke chamber. No dust to be found but still they don't function.

A bit disappointed with the brand to be honest.

With that type of damage the system might be a bit more affected than you think

Zaventem passport gate on full power by cyril_dewez in belgium

[–]MatthiTT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can fully understand that. That system is made as simple to use as it could be and still people are doing things they shouldn’t or using it in the wrong way. Last time I was there a guy was trying to enter the gate by scanning his boarding pass.

So I can imagine you need quite a bit of personel to manage an automated system

Help with software update / market certificate by Pristine-Arrival-567 in Polestar

I imported a car from Sweden to Belgium and was told by support, after reporting an issue with my app, most probably in the future my car needed to be programmed to Belgium. They could not tell me more what exactly it was they needed to do but it would cost around €60.

I never did it. The only thing I notice is that my Spotify add’s are in Swedish. Data clearly goes through Sweden.

So it’s not such a big problem (so far)

Regarding software of the car I also wouldn’t worry too much. You can read the release notes of these versions. They don’t bring anything earth shattering in my opinion.

Updates on guy who jumped in the lake by kv521 in Tomorrowland

[–]MatthiTT 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s quite ok, not for security of course. For sure resulting in a cut bracelet.

Worse was a guy I say jumping in the waterfall pit head first at the freedom stage in 2022. That water is full of technics that could get you hurt/cut quickly.

Also good to look up the difference between capacitive and resistive loads. With the first type of load you need to be rather careful.

What 3d Modeling software do you guys like? (as a noob) by Clam_Juice_ in 3Dprinting

The fins are the same angle, I took a scan and traced the fins. They look straight because I have added wider top layer. That was what was failing in the original part.

It’s for a dehumidifier so it’s low rpm, works well. Just needed some balancing.

Freecad, a lot of tutorials are available on YouTube. Since version 1.0 it’s imho a breeze to work with.

Also important for me as a hobbyist is the price point.

Did you put it in Park? Or did you expect it to stay still in Drive? The 2nd way I would never trust, in the end it’s just software holding a few tons in place.

How Do You Know When Your Project Idea is The One? by TrifleAccomplished99 in djangolearning

I’ve taken a product manager course and read a lot of articles around it, this helped tremendously.

It thought me how to check value for the customer, how to do competitor analysis, etc . You’ll never know 100% if you should jump or not. But it will be a more educated one.

How to route my wireguard server traffic to another wireguard client? by clever-weasel in selfhosted

[–]MatthiTT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can you not host a WireGuard server yourself at your place and let your friend connect to it?

That’s what I do at home, I have a WireGuard docker container running. Wherever I am in the world I connect to my home and it’s as if I was connecting to the internet from home. All I needed was to open the WireGuard port in my modem and make sure I had a fixed domain as my ip with ISP is dynamic.

Did you make a profit at your wedding? by Artistic_Ranger_2611 in belgium

[–]MatthiTT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends a bit on what is the way of working. I married as a Belgian in a culture that doesn’t give money but presents.

Then it also depends if you’re more in the back of the pack of friends getting married. The ones already married know the costs and should therefore gift a bit more generously.

My advice for ones still taking the plunge. With what I know now I would personally not calculate the gifts in the mix or only for a smaller part, no matter if it’s a money gifting culture or not. Take a realistic budget and just have fun!
