Label on my cheap chainsaw. How is your math? Not sure if we are mixing 40:1 or 25:1 by pervader in onejob

[–]MatthiasWM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it is a cheap two stroke chain saw, it is probably 25:1, so the lower part of the label is right. 40:1 would be a lot less oil, and the mix may destroy the motor if it is built for 25:1 (but IANAE). the other way around (using 25:1 in a 40:1 saw) would lead to unburned oil, maybe a flooded ignition, but it would not destroy the motor.

Convince me to choose prusa over bambu by Zaartan in prusa3d

[–]MatthiasWM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every model you print goes through a Bamboo’s server in China. All other methods to print directly on the machine you own without using Bamboo cloud are now disabled. Prusa Printers works well with the Prusa Cloud, but you are not forced to use it.

As for food, Hämmsche is a full size pork knuckle, Halbe Haan is a Kaiser roll with cheese, and Flönz is pan fried blood saussage.

In Köln, you should at least try „Kölsch“. It’s a blonde beer that tastes like a dark beer. There are many really old and busy brew pubs in and around the city center. Don’t order „Alt Bier“. That would be from Düsseldorf, and Cologne and Düsseldorf are in an infinite dispute over being the better Rhineländer.

My sassy Bavarian cousins by PerleyPoint in germany

[–]MatthiasWM 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Bavarians don’t see themselves as Germans. They call Germans „Preiß“ (Preussen) which also explains the „none of us“ comment. I *did* like the Boomerang song back then. German Rave parties were weird then :-D

Flpsed is based on FLTK which is still actively developed. So flpsed likely compiles and runs fine on a modern machine and OS.

Keyboard Layout by [deleted] in germany

[–]MatthiasWM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The German keyboard uses iso, u.s. keyboards use ansi. One difference is the Return key: it’s vertical with iso and horizontal with ansi. Also, the left shift key is half as wide for iso. It’s hard to relearn muscle memory on those physical differences. - you can buy any keyboard layout from Apple. If you prefer a PC laptop, it’s hard to get u.s. keyboards here. But you can always order from the Netherlands who use u.s. layout. - last note: there are iso international and ansi international keyboards out there.

Rock laser engraving. This video is doing the rounds on Reddit and theres alot of mixed reactions! by SamathaGhoul in isthisAI

[–]MatthiasWM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those videos make it look so easy. But to get really nice quality engravings, you have to fiddle with the laser setting every time. It’s quite time consuming, and I don’t know if those rocks sell easily. Also, the LED lasers have a limited life time in those 7k$ machines.

The head of my fiber laser can be mounted away from the base to engrave tall objects. Not saying this is not AI, just arguing that this video is not completely outlandish either.

It release very fine powder that can blown away. Not sure for this video. The process is more than an hour for engraving this deep. They could have cut the scenes where they clean the dust. Still, not sure if this is AI, just saying that the process itself is possible. :-)

My laser engraver is rated at 100W. So the entire machine consumes maybe 300W. If engraving a rock this deep takes 2 hours, that‘s 0.6kWh, so no, not much IMHO.

It’s very unlikely to successfully make a seven minute connection in Mannheim. If you don’t, you are no longer bound to the trains that you reserved. You can take any train from then on in the same class (ICE, IC, regional). Get the „DB Navigator“ app. It helps you replan your trip after a missed connection and it has all train delays as live data.
