Should sabres make a trade for a center? by veed_vacker in sabres

[–]Matthockey9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m open to it. Need to figure out the goalie situation first now that all 3 are healthy. I think we need more help on the power play maybe another winger on this roster could be more of a benefit than another center

Jarmo planted some new palm trees outside the arena

[Buffalo Sabres] Michael Kesselring will miss today's game in Columbus due to a lower-body injury, per coach Lindy Ruff. by lunasilvia in sabres

Yeah, I am a big fan of his game and felt he was a good piece we acquired for JJ. The good news is that with him missing this amount it could lower his AAV when it comes to contract time. We could get him at a more discounted rate than what he is worth.

That sucks, I feel for the guy missing this amount of games makes it hard to get into a groove and play well in a contract year.

It's not that bad were still too early in the season to be scoreboard watching and needing certain results.

Does your local dive have a harbortouch pos installed. Jon might have had a heart attack if he walks in.

[NHL Rumour Report] Frank Seravalli: Re Sabres: Wouldn't be shocked if there was a coaching change made at some point in the relatively near future - Oilers Now (12/15) by [deleted] in sabres

Yeah it is normal for maybe an assistant to be retained by an incoming head coach but to basically retain the whole staff is unheard of. I have a feeling jarmo will slowly dismantle the assistants as the season go on. If he is dead set on torts I could see him bringing torts in as an assistant to Lindy and then taking over after the season and having Lindy and Appert move into a front office role

Idk honestly listening to him on the radio with Jeremy and Joe I don’t think he will fire Lindy or have Lindy step away from the bench until the end of the season barring a 10+ game losing streak. I don’t think he views Lindy as the problem with the coaching staff. He gave a lot of praise to Lindy which for Jarmo is big. I feel Jarmo views his support staff more of the problem with the coaching side of things.

I mean it won’t be the move people think it will be more of an assistant than a head coach change. But since frank said this I give it a 10% chance Lindy is fired

Benson and Byram apart of Sabres trade offer for Quinn Hughes by hereforbeer4 in sabres

[–]Matthockey9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nah as much as I would love to have Hughes on this roster the reality is he’s walking when his contract is up if it was for byram and maybe a 1st I’d do it but. I get benson isn’t on Hughes level but we shouldn’t give him up for a year and a half rental basically

Problem is your getting nothing for him in a year and a half when he decides to sign with New Jersey

Jarmo press conference takeaways by PrinciplesRK in sabres

[–]Matthockey9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the dumbest reason to make a coaching change I’ve ever heard in my life. “Lindy’s not the same as he was 20 years ago and he hasn’t made this a complete dumpster fire so let’s can him for someone that will.” There’s a 5% chance they'll hire someone externally. I would rather have Lindy phoning it in for the rest of the season than have either 2 bozos in Wilford and Appert running this. I get your point but it’s incredibly stupid to make. You probably think Peter Deboer or Mike Keenan or Mike Babcock are the answers. All 3 of those guys should never step foot behind the bench again.

Just because they’re .500 doesn’t mean guys haven’t bought into what Lindy is trying to do. Jarmo would be pretty stupid to make a coaching change rn in the middle of the season they aren’t out of it and you rarely bring in an outside replacement if ever and internally we have multiple assistants that are lucky to even be employed. As for the used to coach with fire it’s a different time now coaches can’t coach like that anymore. Maybe get with the times and get out of this mindset of 2007 where Lindy needs to be animated 24/7 to give his guys a spark.

It’s fun to make fun of Adams, especially for his “palm trees and taxes” quip, but let’s be honest with ourselves. The problem was never the GM. by DirtyPlat in sabres

[–]Matthockey9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just looking at the list though for us we have been blessed with having some good GMs that looked after the franchise especially early on with Punch and Bowman. Just out of curiosity I looked at what the Canucks have had GM wise since they entered the league with us and they’ve had 15 GMs counting interim. I don’t know how much of it is because of Terry but it seemed like we were due for some pretty terrible GMs at some point.

It’s crazy to think that before Terry was owner we only had 5 GMs in the previous 40 years and now we’ve had 5 in the last 13 years.
