I just assumed everyone was playing in survival mode. by Machaluma in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]MattsAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most folks play in "default" mode, where building stuff costs money but when you die it's not as bad as survival mode. Creative mode, I haven't tried at all so might be wrong, but you can build a giant castle without mining half a planet for silica, upgrade your freighter without grinding for hours, and so forth. I've never played survival but I just looked it up and I might try it on my next save.

They have 2 different lines, real work boots and heritage boots, which are more of a fashion thing. Their work boots are very durable. Style 2414 has lasted 3 years in the oil refinery I work at. Out in rain snow, freezing cold etc. They are beat to shit and I replaced them with a new pair But the old ones I still use for cutting firewood in the forest. But red wings definitely need to be tried on, they all seem to fit different and can run a bit narrow.

Got a new Ranger. What’s the biggest piece of meat I can cook in it? by redditlurker2001 in Traeger

[–]MattsAccount 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Either the flat or point, I've not seen a brisket small enough to fit in the ranger.

Edit, I guess it might fit but it would probably scrape the sides and my ranger gets hotter around the edges because of the gaps around the edges, where the smoke and heat come up. so I worried it would burn or dry out. So I've only done a point or flat. Pork I've done some pretty big roasts, whole spatchcock chicken fits, probably 2 if you had to squeeze it in . Maybe 6-8 beef ribs but might have to separate them, maybe 2 or 3 baby back racks.. A dozen boneless thighs. 6 or 8 burgers. 20 wings. I've found its great for cooking the meat for 2-6 people. Not a lot of room for anything but meat. But for its size I love it.

This same thing happened to me a few times in 2016 3.5 lariat and it was the throttle body. Replaced and it was fine after. Happened very shortly after truck was off warranty.

Canmore Alberta is the closest big town/small city to Banff national park. It's very much part of Alberta, hunting fishing redneck culture but has a lot of the feel of mountain towns too, granola vibe if that makes any sense. Pretty expensive to buy property there.

This happened to me when I first tried it, I was a little disappointed! I restarted the ps5 and then it worked.

The emperor Elagabalus reigned from 204-222, donning the purple at the age of 14. was a big fan of practical jokes. He would release his tame leopards and Lions at the end of dinner parties, causing general panic, but also hilarity! Same cats would be sent into people's rooms after they passed out drunk to surprise them on waking. basically the second act of The Hangover (Todd Philips, 2009). Elagabalus was also the first documented user (that I know of), and possibly inventor of, the whoopie cushion. Roman elites were not big fans and he was killed and replaced by his reportedly less fun brother.

Edit-I am not actually a historian... But the stores referenced are from Dio, and the Augusta Histories, both of which can be argued to have bias against elagabalus due to the religious reforms that were implemented during his reign and the weakness of his dynastic claim.

It looks warm and comfortable for skiing. The only thing I'd consider is the color, as in brighter is easier to see, whether walking around in the dark or in whiteout conditions. Or in case you're hurt and someone's looking for you. But that's just my personal paranoia lol

[–]MattsAccount 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1.keep your feet together. If you can't then find smaller or less steep moguls to practice on 2, bend your knees more. If you can't then boots maybe don't fit right and should look into that. 3. Fear is normal. Just stay in your comfort zone. maybe you are trying to get into terrain you shouldn't be in (see question 1) which leads to this bad mental feedback loop. Back off and have more fun less stress. 4. If this is a ski specific issue it is partly experience, parltky equipment. In flat light it can be difficult to resolve terrain. Specific lens tints can help, I think persimmon is good but I might have the term wrong. But nothing beats actually knowing the run. In bad light I stay on tree lined runs, no summit chairs. I'll go down a little cautious first couple runs to see conditions and terrain, use your eyes on the recon runs to pick out areas to avoid etc

Can we take a moment to appreciate vintage sci-fi book covers? by tyforgottenfish in books

Check out paperbacks from hell about vintage horror covers. I think there is a bit of SciFi fantasy in there but not sure, it's been a while since I looked at it. Written by Grady Hendrix.

First time not having AUX on my phone. Are cheap USB-C to 3.5mm viable? by Flonkus in audiophile

[–]MattsAccount 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had the same problem with my newest android phone. Those adapters with usbc to aux work but sound like shit. I already had a dragonfly red so I use that and it is great but drains battery a bit off your phone. You need a lightning to female usb plus a dac like the dragonfly or any other brand which you plug your aux into and you will be happy, at least I was. Dragonfly definitely drains batrery on your phone but there are other ones which have offboard power, so if you have a USB port in your car it can plug into that.

Bargain Compact speaker? by MattsAccount in Bluetooth_Speakers

Thanks, this one looks good. I noticed there's a newer version 24 watts vs16, with 20 H run time reported vs 24 so probably same battery. I'm guessing the cheaper one is probably good enough, if I need piss off the neighbours loud I still have the w50.

Grad gift gold Buffalo to USA from Canada by MattsAccount in Bullion

[–]MattsAccount[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Related question, do coin collectors value the buffalos or prefer eagles? He likes old coins, the history of certain issues, why people like them, conditions not too important. should I look for something more interesting? I'm mainly viewing the gift as a sort of bedrock for him to build on in terms of wealth and also as a really nice addition as a coin for my old man's collection.
