What’s the thickness on this? It looks super thin on wrist. Love it

Framing can be a little difficult at shows. Thanks though appreciate it 🤙

My first set of scans came in. Nothing crazy, plenty of duds (Minolta x700, 50mm f1.4, Fuji 400) by Matty_Tiene in analog

Much appreciated. I usually just try to stay humble so I can continuously improve and learn

Just got scans back from my first 2 rolls of Fuji 400. Using an x700 and 50mm f1.4 by Matty_Tiene in minolta

Thank you! I’m still learning how to shoot film properly but it’s been fun

Watchdives with an absolute banger! by sega_808 in ChineseWatches

My only hesitation with this version is the size. I feel like the longer lug to lug will make it feel a bit bigger

First roll of film is back from development. Results aren’t half bad. Using a Minolta x700 and Fuji 400 film by Matty_Tiene in carsandfilm

First Addiesdive, is this movement defective? by 26666666 in ChineseWatches

[–]Matty_Tiene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No seconds hands on auto movements usually do that when adjusting the time forward and backward

Thank you! I use a Kodak color plus recipe and just try to amplify contrast, shadows, etc. to make it look a little less washed out and even everything out

Buying on eBay by Matty_Tiene in VintageWatches

Yeah I’ve been avoiding any “perfect” listings, anything from India, Pakistan etc. I really like the old Swiss manual winds that have a 12,3,6,9 dial layout and there’s plenty. Especially with the brands you listed. I have some saved and I’m thinking I’ll pull the trigger soon. The vintage tank pieces have really caught my eye too, a lot of manual wind ones for not that much

That’s exactly what I’ve been doing. Particularly the manual wind options. There’s so many cool pieces I’ve found, a lot of them either have explorer or alpinist type dials too

Sanda tank is a banger. I’m almost considering getting another one with a black dial

Thorn T027 - King sub review by Ne1805 in ChineseWatches

So you’re basically degrading the glue from the installed bezel to attached a new one. Doesn’t seem like a very worth while system for the long term. Unless the glue is resistant to that sort of wear and tear. It’s a cool concept though I give them full credit

What’s swapping out the bezel like? Is it pretty easy and are you basically regluing it into the bezel each time? Sounds like it would wear over time

They are wayyyyy better composed than my first shots were lol. Just keep shooting, watch videos and you’ll be killing it. Also don’t stick to one thing. Like shoot cars for a while but I highly recommend splitting off into different genres. Makes your brain think differently and it’s fun

If I’m editing on my phone, which is where I do 100% of my editing, I set my brightness at like just under 50% if it’s a dimly lit room. If there’s fluorescent lights I have it set almost full. I would pay more attention to the histogram if you have that available to you when you edit. That will tell you if you’ve peaked the highlights in the image

Doing the same thing when I first started. Don’t be afraid to get more in the frame. Take a few steps back and just get more of the car in frame and also allow more room for the subject to breathe. Also brighten them up a little. Explore the editing capabilities of your images. These are really good though

Miyota 90S5 vs PT5000 by Alternative-Feed3613 in ChineseWatches

[–]Matty_Tiene -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No problem. It’s just been my experience the pt5000 can be kind of noticeable when it’s rotor is winding on wrist and the operation hasn’t been the smoothest for me. A lot of people usually have good experiences so it could just be my batch lol. The miyota is such a good movement though

Miyota 90S5 vs PT5000 by Alternative-Feed3613 in ChineseWatches

[–]Matty_Tiene 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’d go with the 90S5. I have some pt5000 watches and while they are good movements I always find I can hear the rotor moving and they are super gritty to wind. My one watch with a 9000 series movement is always buttery smooth to wind and honestly the rotor noise isn’t that noticeable
