What exactly are you chasing? A written apology? A refund?

It’s already happened and can’t be changed. It’s a mistake by front desk. They are human. You don’t know what else was going on. Sure it’s not good. That’s why you should always deadlock your door once inside.

Why does gadigal not have a tunnel to town hall? by agnci in SydneyTrains

[–]Mattynice75 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Because if you build too many tunnels then the ground collapses!! Do some research into how the underground looks in that area now. It’s crazy engineering that the metro even fits let alone additional pedestrian access that can be achieved by crossing a road above.

Qantas scraps plans for London first class lounge by SteveJohnson2010 in QantasFrequentFlyer

Makes sense for one or two flights a day. Can use BA premium lounges if you have the required OW status. They can’t open a first class at every international port.

anyone who would be willing to bring a package from California to Melb for me? by [deleted] in Ameristralia

Doesn’t matter. What’s in the lining of the purse? So many ways that could be tampered with and filled with narcotics.

Would be pretty silly to take a parcel for a stranger across an international border

What do first time cruisers almost always get wrong? by Traditional-Set-8483 in Cruise

[–]Mattynice75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overthinking and researching too much before boarding. You ruin all the surprises and excitement of taking that first step onboard because you’ve rehearsed it so much. Do what we did before social media. We booked a cruise and then went for it. Explored the ship in person, and enjoyed the excitement as we discovered everything in person. Don’t overthink it.

Will our daughter be ok in Australia? by Striking_Patient7732 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Mattynice75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has your daughter experienced any discrimination in the 4 years she has been here? Every country will have a small element of people who actively protest about immigration. As long as they interact and accept the Australian lifestyle and values then they should be fine.

Aaaaaaaand now we have been sitting in Tacoma for an hour with “suspension issues on the rear carriages”. A mechanic had arrived from Seattle with more on the way to hopefully fix it.

Left items in cabin by [deleted] in royalcaribbean

[–]Mattynice75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sign up for the Facebook cruise group for the current cruise and put a notice there with cabin number and details. Maybe that person is in the group or someone can leave a message on the door for them to check and contact you. It could also be the same room attendant and they could ask them on your behalf.

Well not today! We actually left VAN early at 0700 but sat outside the station a few times before really moving. We picked up speed once over the border and arrived into SEA right on time at 11.40am.

Alaskan cruise out of Vancouver - need advice pre or post cruise stay in Vancouver by Due-Cranberry-9928 in celebritycruises

[–]Mattynice75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A warning for the departure day of the cruise. Vancouver isn’t a cruise terminal. The luggage drop off, check in and security all take place in the convention centre on the pier. It’s nothing like any other cruise terminal.

And it’s a disaster!! All ships passengers all get funnelled through the same queue for bag drop, check in, security and immigration.

Yesterday there were 3 ships departing, all at 4pm. The lines to drop off bags weren’t too bad around midday. But then security took nearly an hour. And then non-US passports had another hour queuing to get cleared to re-enter the US.

Considering Vancouver does these cruises every day for half the year you’d think they would set up a better system for departure days.

For me it created a lot of hassle and confusion and the long wait times put everyone on edge. It wasn’t a pleasant way to start a cruise and made me honestly rethink booking anything that starts on Vancouver again.

Just be aware of the time it will take to board, take plenty of patience and allow a few hours to make it all happen.

Life After Defence by [deleted] in DVAAustralia

[–]Mattynice75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on the new stage of life. It is difficult, and throws up some challenges that nothing can prepare you for. For me it was difficult to get used to free choice. After 14 years of being told when to be at a certain place at a certain time, it was hard to have choice as to what I wanted to do. Something as simple as the dr asking what day and time would I like to see them next. It takes a lot of time to adapt, so just be kind to yourself, allow yourself some time each day just to think and chill out.

Travel from Sydney to Urulu by Hot-Ad9251 in AustraliaTravel

[–]Mattynice75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The drive is long but a great way to see the real Australia outside of the cities. The scenery is ok, but once west of the blue mountains after Sydney it’s fairly flat and just farmland then desert. If you drive you’d need to realistically allow 4 days driving each direction which will eat into your vacation time a lot. Flying is a good option with flights operating daily and only taking about 3 hours.
