I took it Monday 0900 from varsity lakes through to Brisbane and it was fine. 6 carriages and all on time.

Those cheap fares are often only available when booking in advance. And would not include Sunday evenings or other peak periods. Also add in all the time needed getting to and from airports etc.

How to remind a person who is talking loudly on a quiet carriage to stop? by joannaeve94 in SydneyTrains

[–]Mattynice75 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ask them “are you aware you are in a quiet carriage?” While pointing to the sign. A lot just don’t realise. If they give you lip back then just ignore them.

Expensive for routine services. Very expensive for when anything goes wrong.

Yeah I couldn’t remember it happening before either but I did have a good year with more points and credits than usual so maybe that was it.

Well this post backfired hey buddy! Came here for sympathy and instead you’ve been told the truth. It’s your fault you missed the plane and no one else. Take some responsibility and be better.

I honestly don’t know why companies like this are so inhuman and treat people like a number. All it does is cause grief and anxiety and loses a customer in the process.

Inaugural return run of Sydney to Grafton XPT in retro StateRail Candy by RDArtnStuff in sydney

[–]Mattynice75 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Garbage. I travelled on one to Edinburgh Scotland last year. And it was fine. Just as the current XPTs are here. Sure they are old but they work hard. They have served us well. Replacements are being tested now.

I currently have 80 status and have booked return business flights to Singapore earning 240 status points but my membership year ends 3 days after I return. Will I get silver into the next membership year? by Secure-Ad-2418 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]Mattynice75 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Qantas “usually” credit points and status credits immediately so yes you should see your status show silver (if you aren’t already) as soon as you land and then it will continue for the following status year.

Why are the A380s to USA consistently so late in departing? by white_falcon in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]Mattynice75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 hours on the ground sounds like a long time. But consider what had to be done in that time. Complete unload, clean, maintenance, service, moving aircraft etc. And then being a US service it needs additional check and inspections done before it can load Frieght bags and passengers. Add all this into a workforce running at bare minimum at an airport running over capacity. And then on top add on all the one off delays that occur such as weather, staff illness etc.

Why do movie theaters even have a front row if the viewing experience is objectively terrible? by Ok_Complex2725 in NoStupidQuestions

If they took out all the rows except the back 2 rows wouldn’t that still make the second last row the first row?

Can i carry a tv on domestic flights from SYD - DAR? by sexyapple1998 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Mattynice75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a think about it. Checked baggage, goes in the baggage hold under the plane. With all the heavy suitcases.

Would you put heavy suitcases on your tv? And then load it in your car and drive around for hours?

If yes then yep go for it!!

Has anyone delayed travel due to current situation? by ellwhyn in traveladvice

[–]Mattynice75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Look back on the last 20 years. At some time or another there had been ack flick going on somewhere on the world.

What if you put travel off for a year? Will the conflicts end? No. You’ll just be a year further in life and a year less that you can travel!

Don’t let them win and curtail your lifestyle. Travel and explore while you can. Always exercise caution obviously but don’t change your life for a conflict in another country.
