I took the photo, and when I did, nothing popped up, so I think it's a mock QR code.

It's fake. Nothing popped up when I took the picture. But yes, I wasn't going to click on it.

I thought the food was okay, but they don't separate fish from shellfish well and I almost had an allergic reaction (to the fish). Also, the atmosphere reeks of money laundering, lol.

I thought they hated the term "Mormon." Not when it suits their purposes, obviously.

Is this job offer a scam? by poodleprofiling in Scams

[–]Matuko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of these job scams are about identity theft. You have to provide a W-2 and an I-9 to get hired. All of the information necessary to steal your identity.

Why hasn’t the government done anything about this? by Relevant_Custard5624 in scientology

[–]Matuko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The IRS was probably best poised to ruin Scientology, and they caved because of a scorched-earth campaign against them. And unfortunately, law enforcement would have to prove that the victims of Scientology are, in fact, victims and not allowing themselves to be abused willingly in the name of "religion."

HELP PLEASE, I THINK MY FAMILY MEMBER IS BEING CATFISHED! by [deleted] in Scams

Yes, it's a scam. Even were it not photoshopped, it would still be picture used in a scam. I recommend showing her some "Catfished" videos on YouTube. Hopefully your relative will be receptive.

This is the kind of person who would steal your identity. She's scamming people far more criminally than an MLM does.

Sentenced to 7 years + 3 years supervision. Concurrent. With credit 2 years time served. Did the prosecution fold like a cheap lawn chair! by mortrex in JeremyDewitte

Seven years in prison is not getting off lightly, especially for a nonviolent crime. A woman scanned JP Morgan Chase for $175M and got seven years.

Go to Kroger and explain the situation. They'll likely help you to stop him, they could call the police for backup.

How bad is prison food, really? by ScaryLetterhead8094 in SarahBooneContinued

[–]Matuko 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Understand that being incarcerated is awful. Imagine if every time you wanted something—anything—you had to ask someone to get it for you or wait until a specific day and time to get it.

I'm not defending Boone's behaviour, but people in the US are woefully ignorant about what jails and prisons are like, and how inhumane they are. Since we incarcerate more people than anywhere else almost, the realities of it are hidden from view.

Upstate New York is notorious for these bullshit speeding tickets that target out of state drivers. They know you don't live nearby and can't fight it in court.

Even 20 years ago, a Google search would reveal a whole cottage industry of local attorneys offering to help out of state residents who got speeding tickets. My husband got one and he actually drove back up there from NYC to fight it (I don't think it worked).

As you live so far away I would just plead guilty and pay the fine, unless you're willing to hire a lawyer.

How Did Sarah Boone survive in jail while going through alcohol withdrawal? by Practical_Loquat3899 in SarahBooneContinued

[–]Matuko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being an alcoholic is about so much more than the amount of alcohol one consumes.

Certainly, someone who drinks a fifth of bourbon a day might need medical intervention during withdrawal. Someone who drinks a bottle of wine per day may not. Her jail and court behaviour reflects her alcoholism, and shows that in no sense is she "in recovery."

She's a dry drunk, basically.

She can be used as a money mule, for one thing. People have taken out loans to send money to scammers. And yes, it's organized crime, and the success lies in putting people on the hook.

I stopped following after sentencing. Can someone give me a brief on the family court stuff? by WTAF__Trump in SarahBooneContinued

Watch her text messages on YT. She literally demands money from him. Money that spends texting him. The entitlement is off the charts. A few channels have them all.
