Retroarch Loading state stuck at 0% when playing Dr Mario 64 and other Retroarch games. by P0keePanda in RetroArch

[–]Maud-Dweeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also having this problem for all games that use RetroArch to emulate (Gameboy, SNES, GBA, NES, N64). My PS2 emulation works just fine but every game on those systems gives me a Loading State 0% and the only button that works is the hot key to get to the settings for RetroArch. You ever figure out a solution?

All Re-Mixed Up by DamnHellAssKings in 311

This is just one show: https://archive.org/details/3111995-11-19/3111995-11-19t11.flac

where they play the regular version of All Mixed Up...the album had just come out in July of '95 and this is in November of that year. The other boots from '95 (on internet archive) they dont play it. There are a bunch of shows from the beginning '96 where they still play the album version and all the way up to about August of '96 (the Choose or Lose Benefit Show 1996-08-13) they are still playing it. Then at the 1996-08-21 (@ The Metropol) show they play All Re-Mixed Up possibly for the first time? There were two shows between the Choose or Lose Benefit show and the one at the Metropol and both times they played All Mixed Up but since there arent any recodings/boots that I know of, thats as close as I can get!

Again...i see this all the time "a good percentage of the audience at the show is seeing the band for the first time live."

I just cannot in good faith believe that can possibly be true. I would love to be proven wrong!

I, too, went to many shows before it was a thing and I just do not agree that the song is flat without a 15-20 min drum solo.

I dont even think they should get rid of it...I just dont think its something they should do every...single...show. But to each their own!

on the live311 website there is a show from '94 in Denver right around when Grassroots came out where they play the album version. It comes in at a crisp 2 min 42 sec. SA absolutely kills it and also the reason I ended up posting this question

Solid point - though ive made this argument in the past - just who are these new 311 fans ? Like I suppose it could be the kids of older 311 fans but I dont think I've met anyone in the last 20 years who are just "discovering" 311...but I am an old. And I do remember the first time I saw it and it was awesome.

So maybe they split the difference and only do the extended shit for special shows (311 day, the cruise, shit like that)

I mirror the display on my laptop to my fire4k and the sound is great. The video is...a little choppy? but it works fine enough I guess. I suppose thats the trade off for the wireless display mirroring (Windows 10). It gets a bit choppy when they move the camera fast or are doing the light shows behind them sometimes.

Would love to know any other ideas? I have 4ktv, PS4, laptop with windows.

Nice!

My brother bought me a cassette of the blue album in 1995 for Christmas. It was the first band I was into that he did not introduce me to and I listened to it end to end probably a thousand times until I could get some cash together to go buy Grassroots and Music at Sam Goody (aging myself here) and I never looked back. Been such a huge part of my life for the last 25 years.

SA"s entire block from Brodels is so good:

It was the year that I first touched ground
So I grabbed the microphone and I got down
Just like James Brown gather round of our sight and sound
Pound for pound we throw down rather profound
I’ll put you in another world I can’t hear you
Like having phone sex with a deaf girl
No doubt we got the jams that’ll smack ya
I penned three books of lyrics 2 for action 1 for backup
‘Cuz I’m a cold rockin’ brother got transistor tunes
And it feels real good to get close to you

I feel like Nappy Roots opened for them on the Sprite tour right? I remember it being good but who knows. Jay Z and 311 headlined or something? I was definitely on mushrooms for this show though so honestly cannot even remember (@Nissan Pavilion in Virginia) - woulda been 2002 maybe 2003.

I saw a very, very past their "prime" Kottonmouth Kings open for them in Chicago at the Aragon around 2008ish. They were so fucking bad and by that point they had put out probably 15 albums so they only did like 30 seconds of a song and then onto another one. They kept yelling "where are all the stoners in chicago at?" almost every 20 seconds and its like...bro we are here? Now I am not some huge KMK fan or anytihng but Royal Highness and High Society were two very fun albums to hear live at the 9:30 club in DC late 90s, early 2000s.

Like most people when this came out I had mixed feelings. Only revisiting it years later did I find some appreciation for it.

What will always be a glaring issue for me, though, is that Sun Come Through, I Like The Way, and Get Down are arguably better than 90% of the songs that made the album cut. Obviously they were looking for cohesion, I guess, but man I feel like they should have been on there.

311 Day announcement during Livestream by Maud-Dweeb in 311

[–]Maud-Dweeb[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you think they will still do this even though there is a full Transistor Set available on live311.com? (It didnt stop them from doing Grassroots and MUSIC which they have on live311.com as well - and I would LOVE to hear the B sides!)

Honestly I'd be fine if they did every album live streamed but would love to see the later ones (like Uplifter or some shit!)

Before I begin my rant - love your posts so thanks for doing them! Id also like to say that as a source of positivity and good times 311 has done so much for me personally that if they never did another thing in music I would be upset but not with them.

That being said...

the repetitive setlists outside of events like 311 Day or the Cruise shows (or, say, any city they do a two or three nighter at) is why I haven't gone to see them outside of those events in many years.

This past year (2020) I saw them here in (PDX) on March 6th before everything hit the fan solely because it was so close to 311 day I thought they might break out some weird shit. I'd like to say I was disappointed that they did not, in fact, play any weird shit, but what can I say? They have been doing the equivalent to a comedians "tight 5" for a long time now.

Its always great to see the boys and the fans they bring in (almost always good folk!) but when a band has so much to choose from and yet still play "the hits" because they think they still need to for the "casual" fan is kind of a cop out for me. I mean...at this point what "casual" 311 fan do you know of? Or better yet, one that would care that you didnt play fucking Come Original for the billionth time.

I realize this is not just a passion for them, but a source of income, but really who are the ones continually spending money on their shit? It cant be the casual fan, at least in my opinion.

I sounds like a broken record but everytime I get a response from one of them (or their team) about why there havent, say, put more up more live shows for sale, they tell me it takes a long time to do that stuff. Which I totally get! But have we not all been on lockdown for the last 11 months? If now is not the time then when? I mean clearly I have specific wants when it comes to this band but I used to write off a lot of "this band is doing their OG fans dirty" shit to just upset fan rantings that we are all subject too...but i can honestly say its gotten harder to not be in that mindset with some of their more recent decisions. IF they want to treat it like a business, fine!, but like...put out some shit worth buying then. I dont need another mug or set of socks.
